I had high hopes of Settld; however, after entering all the necessary details regarding my father, the majority of responses I received were generic:
“We have notified Bank of XXX on your behalf. Due to their internal processes, once they process our notification, they will contact you directly with the next steps and information.”
“XXX Insurance need you to call them directly at 0343 XXXXXX for verification purposes, as per their new user security policy.”
Having spoken to Settld, they are struggling against monolithic financial institutions. Each with a different protocol. My expectation was that Settld would work like "Tell us once" which efficiently informed local and central government agencies.
Having spoken to Settld it is clear that financial institutions have not developed a common protocol for being informed about customer deaths. This is certainly are area that the financial services industry could improve.
On the positives. Settld is a free service and helped pull together a checklist of financial institutions that needed to be contacted. But it did not meet my expectation that it would be a one-stop shop for informing financial institutions.

Sometimes about how you deal with issues rather than create them as a result changed from a 1 Star to a 4 Star - Sorry cannot give a 5 as still cost me a lot of my own personal time after the death of my mother.

Just trying to close gas and electric of a deceased relative.. no contact for days of any solution. like we don't have enough to do

First class service. All admin dealt with very quickly. lines of communication were excellent via the messaging service. Any queries were addressed within a couple of hours of me posting a question. the staff demonstrate empathy, compassion and kindness during a very difficult time for families. Highly recommend.

Rewrite 20/09/24: This was originally a negative review. I've turned it around because Settld's founder has personally shown me how they'll improve the service in response to my negative feedback. So my positive rating is on trust, based on what Settld will be like after those improvements.
Like other similar services, Settld can fully manage some providers, can only notify others, and doesn't work at all with others. They're now going to make it clearer which category each listed provider is in, so the user will know upfront which work they'll have to do for themselves.
They'll continue to invite users to "please lobby this company to start working with Settld". That may irritate some users. Their business model is "provider pays" so they need providers to sign up to that.
For the providers that Settld does work with, my experience is positive.
Very easy to deal with quick and efficient and very respectful
Settld was an excellent platform to start the process of informing non-Government companies of my father’s passing.
Where a company we’re not signed up to Settld, the process prompted that company to contact me directly. This removed the need for me to research contact numbers and try to find the right department. This all helped lessen the burden on me.
Great service and I would definitely recommend.
Really helpful to have it all in one place and settld take the pain away from having to contact different companies yourself at such a horrible time. Really recommend
