We've had a real mixed experience with…
We've had a real mixed experience with SCS, the good, the bad and the downright ugly.
Let's start with the bad:
We ordered two sofas from Bristol Cribbs Causeway which was simple enough. We were given a lead time of 5-6 weeks which was grand. When week 6 rolled round I called the store to be told the sofa would be arriving within a week and they'd given me a call when it was in their warehouse to arrange delivery. Week 8 rolled round with no word, called the store to be told it wouldn't be in the warehouse for another two weeks. SCS have written their terms and conditions well to ensure you have no leg to stand on when it comes to delivery times - you just have to accept it and expect to wait.
Week 9 we get a call from the delivery centre to arrange delivery which was great. I took a day off work to be here as delivery is 7am - 7pm with no shorter windows. 48 hours before delivery we have a phone call to say the lorry had broken down, delivery would have to be re-arranged. Which is where we get to the ugly....
The phone call came from the delivery centre in Coventry. We expressed we were a bit miffed, we were the customers here and surely it is their job to deliver on time as promised. They suggested we ring the store in question, which we did.
From the moment the manager at Cribbs Causeway picked up the phone it was clear he lacked a basic understanding of customer service and general good manners. His tone was patronising beyond belief and it was really disappointing that he was not better trained for his chosen career. First he denied that delivery had ever been booked for the original date, saying delivery would never be booked before the sofa was in the warehouse. He wanted to know the exact date of the phone call from the delivery team, making me go back through all my phone records to find the correct number. He then attempted to re-book the delivery, despite the fact that he'd just told me delivery cannot be booked until the sofa is in the warehouse and our sofa was currently not yet in the warehouse. Whilst attempting to rebook the delivery he suggested a few dates, ignoring the fact we had already re-arranged our work calendars for the original date. When I said this he went straight into "oh, so you're refusing delivery," as though any of this was in any way our fault. He apologised incredibly insincerely, offered no kind of remedy or compensation. I suggested he give us a ring when the sofa was in the warehouse as clearly there was not much else he could do.
After putting down the phone I called the delivery centre again in an attempt to find a representative to express my concerns to. I was eventually put through to someone who actually apologised, refunded the cost of the delivery and arranged a shorter delivery window of 4 hours instead of the full 12. Not that difficult to do, but a little bit of customer care goes a long way.
The sofa arrived today and it's looking good so far. No way would I ever buy from SCS again based purely on our experiences at SCS Cribbs Causeway. I would recommend going in to store to try the sofas out, and then just buying online to avoid the incompetent store manager.
WOEFUL EXPERIENCE with SCS
WOEFUL EXPERIENCE with SCS.
Went into Gloucester store to price up sofas, carpets and laminate (a considerable sum we were willing to spend with the company.)
Here is a brief overview of our experience:
> store manager was on his phone, sat on sofas on two separate occasions not offering help
> a sales staff was obnoxious - and despite us clearly asking for only a price, he continued with a full quote and then became irate when we reiterated that we only wanted prices ("I wouldn't have bothered writing this up if you had said").
> despite the above, the sale staff continued to quote for insurance and became even more hostile when I refused to sign a document. ""if you want commitment from us, we need commitment from you, so we need you to sign here".)
> pressure to sign/ pseudo blackmail to sign something for a quote would be unethical, maybe?
To highlight a breach of Data protection that occurred:
After refusing to sign, we were then told that my personal information that the sales staff collected (whilst filling out what we thought was a pricing up, was then) would be left "somewhere here until we decided to commit". Please see below information from Article 5 from the new GDPR 2018 legislation breached by SCS:
"[data should be...] (b) collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes; further processing for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes shall not be considered to be incompatible with the initial purposes; (c) adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed;"
When I emailed SCS complaints to ask if we could be directed to a store that will help us have a better experience they refused to help because our 'information was not on the system'. I highlighted the irony to their reply, to which I received another reply: 'I cant do anything with no information.'
So in sum, terrible experience in shop, refusal to help when highlighted to the complaints, no acknowledgement for potential customers, and a frankly laughable dismissal of their own stores breaching GDPR guidelines.
A great customer experience
Ordered a corner sofa, coffee table and rug today at the Basildon branch. Excellent customer experience in store. Great lead time for the goods to be received, only 5 weeks. All the staff who we had contact with could not have done any better. Thankyou!
Never again..
Never again..
Every 2 years I update my sofa and normally buy from DFS this time around I made the mistake of stepping through the doors of ScS.
We bought a corner sofa for £1150 and had the sofa a little over a year now, all of a sudden and we can only use 2 seats. We don’t even sit on the part that broke.
It’s now 2 months I’ve been waiting for it to be repaired under my warranty and it’s still ongoing.
My partner is pregnant and I’m now taking her to the GP to which both her doctor and midwife are suggesting I make a formal complaint due to severe back pain as we’re sat like the leaning tower of Pisa.
Having spent the past 9 weeks being told by the aftercare team to call the store, the store telling me to call head office and head office telling me to call the store I’ve had enough. I’ve spoken to a manager in person twice already.
Constantly advised they would do their best and come back to me and never do, constantly speaking to people who can’t follow it up until they come back off holiday.
I spoke to Lauren and explained it all and Lauren said that I can refuse the repair and that I’m well within my rights to get a replacement as it’s still under warranty due to needing a quick turnaround with the issues it’s causing.
I was told to come instore as they may have something that’s in stock or not take weeks to be delivered and that she’ll let the manager know I’m coming to see me.
When we arrived we were greeted by the same guy who wasn’t the area manager we were told we’d see and he said he tried to call to save us a trip.
My partners phone was on silent so we didn’t see the missed call, but we were again fobbed off and told he’d do his best but he’s on holiday until the end of the week now too.
I have him 4 days and finally spoke to the head office again and now the area manager.
The area manager I spoke to advised that what I was told was wrong, but I explained I’m sorry however I haven’t pushed for a replacement, this was all advised to me by Lauren.
Wrong advice or not if she’s saying this while at work she’s legally representing the store so you have to honour what’s been advised.
He said he’ll check but conveniently the calls aren’t recorded. (Funny that)
Again after being told to wait while the area manager looks into it I was told I’ll get a call back this Friday (today 8th June 2018) as he was... you guessed it going on holiday.
I didn’t receive a call but I called him 5 minutes before his shift ended.
I was advised that we won’t be getting a replacement even though this week I bought a new sofa elsewhere but got a refund while I waited for his outcome today.
I wasn’t told a time for this to be fixed either, but if the sofa breaks again then they will refund it.
Not the whole amount, it depends on condition and it will be credit to another sofa.
The problem here is I don’t know when it’s going to be fixed, still.
Then I have to complain about this side of the sofa doing the same, then hope that he remembers or honours his word.
The point being my partner is suffering while pregnant and this is the type of service you get at ScS.
So tomorrow I’m going to go and buy a new sofa from DFS, stick to what you know comes to mind.
I’ll still get this fixed but it will be at the other side of my living room tomorrow morning to make way for a delivery which DFS has agreed with me this week to meet due to the seriousness (even shown the store Doctors records and baby scans as they couldn’t believe how I’m being misled) the second my ScS sofa is fixed you’ll find it on a Facebook sale add for 80% off as it’s awful.
All of this and they’ve just lost a customer who spends thousands on new furniture ever two years.
I’ll honestly never walk through the doors at ScS ever again and to anyone who reads this please do yourself a favour and buy elsewhere.
It’s better value for money and MUCH better quality!
Don’t take this as a disgruntled customer, I’m taking the time out of my day to save you a grand or two and have home furniture you’re happy with.
ScS = Shocking customer Service.
We received a phone call the morning of…
We received a phone call the morning of the delivery from Dougie to give us our delivery time slot of between 11-2, at just after 11 he phoned to say he was just coming into the estate. Dougie and Willie brought the cuddle chair in and set it up and showed my mum how to use the recliner on the chair, they took all their packaging away.
The boys were very friendly and helpful and couldn’t highly recommend them enough, they are a credit to the company
Couch
Couch delivered by Stuart, James and Davy, arrived earlier than anticipated time very good service. Would recommend
Be warned!!
Be warned!!
Ordered a corner sofa for right hand side corner but was sent left hand part instead so ended up with the arm in the middle of the sofa!!!! When I ordered it I asked the guy to do a drawing of the positioning to make it easy for the furniture makers!!!! Then had to wait for another 6 weeks nearly for delivery of new sofa which seems to be ok. Both times the delivery guys couldn't have been more helpful and considerate. Considering I rang Watford shop continuously to get the sofa re-ordered and was fobbed off frequently by managers and their so called assistants. I never got an apology or compensation!!!! No customer service what so ever!!!!! Have told all my friends stay clear of SCS and anyone reading this should do the same. Wish I'd read these reviews first.

we had our delivery today gwyn and mark done a great job putting furniture together for me would recommend scs to my friends newport store
Not happy
There was a nice choice of carpets in the shop (Leicester Fosse Park) but the salesman wrote my own measurements wrong, so when he arrived to my house to measure exactely, I finished paying much more. Also he added some unnecessary cleaning kit to the bill, which I was not aware of (my fault in not spotting it). Both the carpet quality and the fitting seem all right, but the fitters left all the mess to clean for me. It had never happend before with any other branch of Scs.

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM SCS AGAIN
I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM SCS AGAIN! Absolutely shocking customer service. Took me 1 whole year for my sofa to be delivered, then 9 months later it wasn’t fit for purposes. Was told that I could pick a new sofa, didn’t see anything I liked so asked for my money back - after logging countless complaints and speaking to umteen managers I couldn’t get my money back, they wanted to knock money off as I’d had use of the sofa!! Eventually I got my money back after battling non stop with SCS for over 7 months. I will never ever buy from SCS again!
Excellent service for our flooring…
Excellent service for our flooring order. Ron at Speke Liverpool store couldn't have been more helpful and informed us of all the details we needed.
