On a very short visit to Dublin for a funeral, I was staying in a hotel in Leopardstown that didn’t have suitable options for someone who is both **gluten free and vegan**. Thankfully, the staff recommended **Sásta in the City** — and what a gem it turned out to be.
I might easily have walked past it if I hadn’t been looking for it, as it’s on the first floor with just an A-frame sign and an open door. But stepping inside (and upstairs!) was such a lovely surprise. The space is beautiful and calming, with a warm mix of wooden tables, soft lighting, and a relaxed atmosphere. I was lucky enough to sit by the window, which made it even nicer.
The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, and had no problem accommodating my vegan and gluten-free diet. The food was absolutely delicious — so much so that after lunch, I came back again the next morning at 7:30 for breakfast, which somehow managed to be even better.
I’m writing this now from back in the UK, wishing I lived closer so I could visit more often. I hope this review encourages someone not to walk past the sign — go through the door, up the stairs, and enjoy what is a truly wonderful place.
