BEWARE of FRAUD
If I could write a review with zero stars I would. Salt City Optics is now a fraud. Ive ordered a few pair of sunglasses from them in the past few years and have received excellent customer service so I decided to use them in late 2018 to purchase 2 pair of sunglasses.
It's been 6 months. The lenses never arrived. My FSA has been charged over $500 and nothing has been delivered. No one picks up their phone and no response to several emails. I have been successful in reaching them a handful of times where there have been "it'll ship this week" promises were made but never followed through.
Since it's 2019, my 2018 FSA funds are gone and will not be redistributed. Salt City Optics essentially stole $500 and then shut their doors. Please beware. There are reviews that mention similar activity and sadly, it's accurate.
Same issues as everyone
Same issues as everyone. Used these guys for the last three years and everything was fine, this year when I ordered same thing product didn't arrive, called they said there was a problem with the lab, called again they said they should be shipping the next day, still didn't get them called again owner said would call me back the next day, never heard back, left messages still no call back, then I started calling every few hours every single day for the last 2 weeks.....crickets.... Called my bank and reported the transaction as fraud, they issued me a temporary credit, while they investigate the dispute. NOBODY SHOULD ORDER FROM THESE GUYS PERIOD!
Is Salt City Optics Out for Good?
I’ve gotten two prescription lens inserts into frames I supplied, including a pair of Oakleys two plus years ago, and the service was decent. Three weeks ago I sent the Oakleys in for a new prescription. Last week, they said the glasses would be ready early this week. After leaving phone messages, and seeing that their web page is down, I looked at all the current negative reviews, particularly for Oakley’s. I’m assuming they’ve folded, or are on an extended holiday. Anyone else hanging out there with their frames at Salt City Optics, and money spent for new lens?
Scam
Just like every other negative review. Purchased sunglasses ($600) back in January, called after a few weeks and got the run around, that turned into over 2 months of not being able to get a hold of them.
Opened a dispute in PayPal where they still didn't reply back, so PayPal refunded me and I took my money back to SportRx where my glasses were done and shipped to me within the week.
If you feel like pushing your luck and being scammed by these crooks, atleast use PayPal so you can get your money back.
Crooks, poor customer service
I ordered prescription sunglasses in January for a fishing trip in late February. I got glasses from them 2 years ago, no problems, so ordered again. I called numerous times after 2 weeks, emailed countless times. No responses. The one time I got ahold of a person, they said they would call back about the update in the morning. Of course no call back occurred. These guys charge your credit card when you order. $700. This service happens to many customers, as I read reviews now. I did not get my glasses, calls and emails to cancel order occur, again no response. I canceled the order through my credit card. This company is a nightmare. I was fortunate enough to use the credit card, those using health savings accounts do not have as much protection on this expensive investment. Do not use this company. I ordered the same glasses at SportRx, had my glasses in 6 days.. You will lose your money using this company, and just get frustrated with their service.
I placed my order on 1/5/2019
I placed my order on 1/5/2019. After several weeks I attempted to contact Salt City via email and voice mail, received no response. After 5 attempts by phone I recieved a call back, 4 weeks after order was placed. I was advised that my Oakley clear lenses would ship next week, the sunglasses would ship shortly after. Next week came and went, nothing shipped.
I called back the following week, it took another 2-3 attempts to get someone on the phone, same story as above, items never shipped. After 3-4 promises of shipping my order the phone rep eventually conceded that the clear lenses have not come in, this was March, we agreed that the order should be canceled and refunded ($733+)
I waited until the following week and still had not received a refund. I attempted to reach the vendor again with no luck, as such I opened a Paypal dispute. After not receiving a response from the seller after 8+ days PayPal ruled in my favor and refunded the money. Had I made the purchase with debit card vs PayPal buyer protection I would have been out of luck. It is also worth mentioning I left several voice mails with this vendor during the dispute, no response.....
Not sure what happened to this company, they use to be great. Empty promises and no follow through... I noticed several other bad reviews and there seems to be a theme, Oakley products. If you value your money I do NOT recommend this company. I am all about supporting small businesses, but this company gives them a bad name.
Crooks.
Never got my glasses. Never got a refund. They even sent me a FAKE refund notice!!! Never showed up on my credit card. These guys are CROOKS

I am fighting to get my glasses or money back. Hey Oakley just send them to me.
FUNNY i put my order number in SLCOptics computer and that show everything that on 7-7-18 a label was created for the USPS. Now i put that order number in and the system show i have no orders. Good thing i printed that out, because I am coming after you all. Just wait.
Order #214011 - never arrived
It has been 5 weeks since placing my order, which has been stuck in the "lab processing" stage for quite some time now. Multiple emails to Salt City have gone unanswered, and at this point I am even wondering if I'll ever get what I have ordered.
Stay away!
Smith Optical via Salt City
Smith Optical, $400+ for prescription sunglasses.....lifetime warranty on frames!! Apparantly a lifetime in Utah years is about 9 months, as less than a year later, lenses so cloudy they're unusable AND missing plastic nosepiece isn't covered.....run do not walk away from Smith Optical and Salt City Optics!!
Really horrrible!!
Really horrrible!!
Ordered 2 pair on 4/29 and only got one pain ( after 6 weeks). Cancelled order for second pair and never received a refund despite multiple calls and emails and talking to owner who promised me a refund “today”. That was 3 weeks ago and still no refund.
These guys tookmy order
These guys took my order, said I would have my glasses within two weeks. Been over a month now and I cannot get them to answer the phone, nor call me back from the voicemails I have left. I would suggest going to someone else for your glasses needs!
Felt Like A Bait & Switch
When I was ordering my prescription Oakley replacement lenses, I was told three weeks to delivery. Three weeks later I was told three more weeks. At six weeks I was told there was no ETA, but I could have them processed through their lab, rather than wait for Oakley's lab. I needed my replacements weeks ago, so I relented. In the end, it took six extra weeks, paid Oakley pricing, but turns out they aren't 'Oakley' since not processed at Oakley's lab. Will they perform like Oakley...the jury is out. Not the buying experience I was looking for.
Great Srore
I have had great experience with all my purchases from Salt City Optics. My glasses have been perfect every time. I had some questions before I made my purchase and live chat with Taylor and he was extremely helpful. I look to them for all my eye wear needs.
