Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. Sizing guidance is terrible. Claimed returned item did not meet their standards. Instead of a partial refund would only offer a gift card. I regret doing business with them and do not recommend.

Hi William, Chris here, the founder.

We work hard to provide the best sizing advice and improve our recommendations based upon customers's feedback. To compensate for that, our exchanges are free.

In your case, we indeed declined your return. This is not something we enjoy doing as it results in a bad experience for everyone (including us). Our return policy requires that the items must be returned in a like-new condition. In your case, you made no effort to return the items clean which mean we are not able to restock them and sell them to someone else. To be fair, we returned the item to you as you requested. Find below the pictures showing the condition in which you returned the harness:

Finally, a secure harness for my escape artist!

The
Saker Bomber harness
in colour of the trails colourway has truly exceeded my expectations. It strikes a perfect balance between rugged engineering and a refined, earthy aesthetic. The construction is clearly built for long-term durability and safety.
The highlight for me is the security. My Australian Shepherd–Collie cross is a notorious escape artist, but she hasn’t been able to wriggle out of this one—the ergonomic structure is that good. I also love its versatility; it moves seamlessly from car safety to trail use, making it an incredibly practical piece of gear. It’s a high-quality investment that feels justified every single time you clip it on.

AI Sizing Bot is Inaccurate

I wanted to love this harness, but the buying process and customer service were a major headache.

I used the Saker AI bot for sizing guidance. The bot specifically instructed me not to measure my dog’s girth and recommended a Medium.

Following the "active fit test" videos provided by Saker, I took the harness to my vehicle. I had to remove the white security tag because it was getting caught in the seatbelt mechanism during the test.

The harness (a Medium) was too small for my German Shepherd. When I reached out to return it, I was told that because the white seal was removed—even though it was removed to perform their recommended fit test—the return was void.

It is incredibly disappointing that the company will not stand behind a sizing error caused by their own AI tools.

While they do have a measurement chart on the site, the bot specifically told me to ignore it. As a result, I was steered away from the correct data that would have shown a Medium was too small for my 96 lb GSD. If you are buying for a barrel-chested breed like a GSD, do not trust the bot. Measure everything yourself and be aware that snipping a tag to test the "safety" of the harness in your car will leave you stuck with a $150+ product that may not fit.

I’ll be donating this brand-new harness to a rescue, as the company refused to offer a fair compromise for their software's mistake.

Hi Yvonne, Chris here, the founder. We were discussing together via email a few days ago. I find very sad that you modify the truth in your review. The reality is that we allowed you to return the harness without providing pictures of the fit. As the Bomber is a safety product, we have a safety seal that allows you to test the fit of the harness on your dog, but will not let you buckle it in the car. That seal is crucial because we wouldn't want a Bomber that has received an impact to be given to another customer.

For this reason, we clearly indicate on the tag that "WARNING: Remove ONLY after sizing is confirmed. Once label is removed, harness cannot be returned."

As you removed this tag, we cannot take back the harness you purchased. Had the tag be still on the harness, you could have returned the harness for a full refund as our sizing agent Kova did not recommend the right size.

Best and most secure harness if you care for your pups safety

Our husky pulls really hard and has escaped many times out of his old harness and this made me so nervous every time we went out for a walk. That's when I upgraded to the Lander harness. All the stress and anxiety was gone. I could finally take a long hike and even run with our boy. He has never escaped after this and he seems to be more comfortable as well.

Product 10/10 - best pet product with quality materials. Metal buckles feel like a tank. Mud, rain, snow washes off easily and looks like new every time.

Value 10/10 - yes its expensive but well worth the money and peace of mind especially if safety for your pets is a priority

Support 10/10 - they honored the warranty on my old Canyon light. Got full refund and bought the Lander. Will probably upgrade to the Bomber.

Using Paw balm stick. This year the winter started too early…

This year the winter started too early and it’s really cold Our Pom is not a big walker at first place but now with the cold he stands up in his back paws waiting for us to pick him up cuz his paw hurts. We bought the Paw balm stick and from the first time he didn’t react to the cold at all. So no more pain and he can walk longer. We didn’t test it on the salty sidewalk but we wouldn’t go in n it anyway. Very happy so far!

Still waiting for "priority delivery" order 2 weeks later.

**** UPDATE ***
This does appear to be an issue with the postal service. After reaching back out to Saker, they offered to send another harness right away. When I requested a refund instead due to my dog’s decline in health, they responded quickly and agreed to refund the payment. My initial review doesn’t reflect the great follow up Saker provided. While I can’t comment on the actual harness, customer service turned out to be exceptional.
Original post:
I placed an order for a dog harness, paying for priority shipping. I ordered on August. 14th, I still have not received the item and Saker says it is not their problem, that it is the problem of the postal service. At this rate, I may not receive the item within the return window. This is not acceptable customer service.

I've tried looking around before

I've tried looking around before, but nothing compares to the quality and safety of their hardware. I do downhill mountain bike and always wanted to have my German shepherd run with me. Wouldn't be possible without saker gear!

I’ve been using the Paw Balm stick for over three years.

I’ve been using the Paw Balm stick for over three years on my Shihtzu. He loves it! And so do I. I’ve been ordering from Amazon.ca. I finally noticed a little business card in the package asking to share my experience in a review. So here it is. My pooches paw pads are so soft. We have a gravel driveway, and in the winter the ice is hard and thick. His paws never get sore. I use this every day. He loves licking his paws and it’s kinda like a treat for him, and it is safe. I am choosing to now order from the company even though there is a shipping fee since it is slightly cheaper than Amazon. 🇨🇦

No Australian shipping

Granted the buckle was faulty initially but a replacement was sent out and no issues since.
It is a good product but they now stopped shipping to certain countries and Australia was on the list. They just provide with a link to a place that will be an American postal point and they will ship it to you (subscription based not pay by use).
Agree with some others that they not the most effective with responses.

Poor return service

I purchased both the ascension and canyon harnesses with the slings. Unfortunately before we got the upgraded harness, my dog got diagnosed with bone cancer and had to have her front leg removed. The canyon+upgraded sling we purchased had to be returned after testing it and the system not working on my dog.

They denies the return of the upgraded harness first because they claimed it wasnt delievered in time. I emailed them back showing that they gave me email confirmation the sling was with them but not processed 2 weeks prior. They then denied because it was not in its original bag and because it had a spot of dirt smaller than quarter. They claim they cannot ship this product out to anymore customers despite it still being fully functional and advertising it as easy to wash.

Hi Tessa, we were truly sorry to hear about your dog's diagnosis. Indeed, we have a 30 days return window for you to return the products. After checking your records, you have received a full refund on July 23rd, 2024 and your returns were approved. Thank you for choosing us in the first place and we're sorry that our products did not fit your dog.

Shady business that lied to their original supporters and the public

I have to agree with the other negative reviews. Very, very shady company. Lied to their original backers/supporters and tried to hide the truth from the public. Take a look at the Center for Pet Safety's post explaining part of the situation. Just google "saker center pet safety". They will delete any negative comments or reviews and block you from their Facebook page. Avoid at all costs, their harness is NOT safe.

Hi Kyle, thank you for choosing us in the first place. We are sorry to hear that you think this of us. We do not lie and do not try to conceal information from you. We indeed got revoked from CPS back in May 2023, this is explained on our website: https://sakercanine.com/blogs/safety/why-was-the-saker-ascension-harness-revoked-from-cps

Since then, we have put all of our harnesses through the same tests with Calspan. CPS is not the only organization conducting crash-tests for dog harnesses.

All that we want is to educate more dog owners on the risk of travelling with a dog in the car and keeping more dogs safe with our harnesses.

Unethical Company with No Transparency

This company deleted my low review on their website and also deleted a comment I posted on their Facebook page about their crash test certification. I was also blocked from their Facebook page. All for asking a reasonable, polite question about their product. I now hear from other people that this company regularly deletes negative comments and reviews and then blocks the poster. Unethical and shady business practice. Coupled with their crash test certification being revoked and the news about them knowingly sending out harnesses with faulty buckles - bad news.

Hi Ray, we indeed got revoked from CPS back in May 2023. This was our first try as a small business into the world of crash-tested harnesses. We still stood behind our products and spent more 85k shipping replacement parts for free to all of our backers. We explain the revocation on our website: https://sakercanine.com/blogs/safety/why-was-the-saker-ascension-harness-revoked-from-cps

I personally got a harness…

I personally got a harness post-kickstarter and have found the harness to have no issues. There was an issue with the buckles (I didn’t really experience many problems but knew it was a thing) - they shipped the new buckles and I haven’t had an issue since.
I have a M-L harness with the accession (two parts) which makes it slip-proof which is a major issue with my dog. The bags work a charm and he can now carry his own water/essentials on hikes. The car component just makes me feel more at ease as it’s a lot stronger than other harnesses out there (irrespective of the questions around CPS). The only other option I have is the EZY harness for car safety which rubs under his arms (don’t have this issue with his saker). All round no issues and worth the money to me.

Hi Amy, thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about us.

We are indeed the first company to make a dog harness that can withstand 3567 lbs and also works great as a day-to-day or hiking harness.

We are just getting started and rest assured that we stand behind each unit that we sell.

Thanks,
The Säker team

Be very wary of this company

Be very wary of this company. Firstly there is no direct customer support only an email to reach out to and they get back to you whenever is convenient for them. Second the dimensions for the harness they advertise are not correct I got mine it's really nice but the hole for the neck is way smaller than what is stated on the website. Last but not least these harnesses get dirty very fast and the material makes the dirt stand out. Attempting to refund my order as of 2 days now and still no word back. Looks like I'll have to have the bank contact them.

Hi J, thank you for choosing us in the first place. Based on your reviews, it seems like you are unhappy with most companies that you deal with.

That's right, we do not have a direct line to call us as we are a small business and each of us has a lot of roles. However, if you request a call back, I (Chris, the founder) will be happy to call you in the next business day. It seems that your review is for the Ascension harness which was a great harness, but it has been discontinued for about a year now. As a small startup, we keep improving our products based on our customers' feedback. Most customers found the Ascension easy to clean, but our goal is to make your life easy so we are definitely trying to make the next generation of harnesses almost impossible to get dirty.

DANGEROUS HARNESS & high school project level of maturity

where do i start! Well in May 2022, i fell for the swanky marketing and signed up for the pre launch of the 'premium' all in one dog harness. They stated that you'd not need another dog harness, this one would be repaired it if broke, life time warranty. Crash test and CPS certified. In July 2022 I became a backer on their kick starter.
Skip forward to February 2023 after many delays, the standard size harnesses where starting to be shipped out, On their Fan page people posted videos of faulty buckles, a light touch on a buckles made them come undone which were then deleted by saker admins. Saker sat on this fault and still carried on shipping out the harnesses with faulty buckles. 2 weeks later they finally let backers/customers know with an update, but down played how bad many of the buckles were. They did not pause production or shipping. The prototype buckled had not been replicated when mass producted in China.
They started on re designing the buckle to fix the fault, while still shipping out the buckles on the harnesses. They did not inform the CPS that they had altered the design of the buckles and harness that had passed the original crash testing. CPS were informed of this via a third party not by Saker. The new buckles and harness did not pass. Due to the coverup of the buckles, shipping out faulty buckles and not informing CPS of the redesign, CPS revoked their certification. Please check in with the Centre of Pet Safety to confirm this revoking

Hi Emma, we indeed got revoked from CPS back in May 2023. The harness you got was part of our Kickstarter campaign. By definition, a Kickstarter campaign is an ambitious project that brings a prototype to reality. However, we still stood behind our products and spent more 85k shipping replacement parts for free to all of our backers. Those replacement parts successfully passed the crash-tests with Calspan. We explain the revocation on our website: https://sakercanine.com/blogs/safety/why-was-the-saker-ascension-harness-revoked-from-cps

All that we want is to educate more dog owners on the risk of travelling with a dog in the car and keeping more dogs safe with our harnesses.

If you wish to pick a fight, we recommend you do it with the 15$ seat belts that sell thousands of units each month and pretend to be safe. Not with the company that almost went bankrupt honoring their Kickstarter backers and trying to keep more dogs of the world safe...
