The WORST travel insurance ever!

During a 3-month trip, I needed an emergency consultation. I called Falck Global Assistance alarm center MANY TIMES with NO success at all!! Then decided to write to claimsATsafeway.dk because it was really painful, but haven't got ANY reply SO FAR!! I've also asked my travel agent to contact them but even so, I haven't got ANY e-mail reply.
Never had such a TERRIBLE and DISAPPOINTING experience with a travel insurance company in my life!!
I will NEVER EVER recommend it to someone!!

07/dec/2018 SafeAway has just replied TODAY! As I cannot make any comment about their reply, and I want my review to be public, I´m writing it here:
First of all, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY PHONE CALL, SMS, or EMAIL (or anything!!) from SafeAway when I needed them most!!! NOT EVEN informing that the coverage of the consultation was not possible!!!. Even my travel agent tried to get in touch with you!!!
AS SafeAway WROTE that you have tried to contact me by mail, sms or phone calls, PLEASE show them to me, with the correct dates!!!!
It´s "EASY" to say that you have "still" been trying to contact me.... my email and phone number are still the same, BUT I HAVE NOT GOTTEN any email or call from you. That´s a lie.
The only contact I´m having with you, is NOW that SafeAway reacted to my bad review on trustpilot!! It should be even worse than one star.

I am sorry to hear about your experience of the proces with your emergency consultation. As far as I can see in the system, you wrote the first e-mail to Falck Global Assistance (our alarm center) on the 15th of August and then again on the 16th of August. Falck responded to your e-mails on the 16th of August but have not heard from you since then. Furthermore the claim you are seeking covered was not covered by your policy, which Falck also wrote to you, since you have not bought the extra cover for dental injuries.

Falck has since then tried to contact you by phone call, e-mail and sms, but you have not responded to any of these.

Not replying to my emails in two weeks!!

Wrote them an email two weeks ago asking for more information on how to file a claim and have not heard from them ever since. Pitty, I have used them a couple of times - it's easy to sign up and buy an insurance - but if you actually NEED their service they are not there..

I am sorry to hear about your feelings regarding safeAway.

When you are traveling abroad and need imidiately asstance, you should always call Falck by the phone. Otherwise safeAway's customer service is open weekdays from 9AM to 3PM and you will always get a respond within 24 hours on weekdays.

When you file a claim to Falck by e-mail there is a standard processing time of about three weeks, which is why I asume that you sent your request to Falck´s e-mail adress and not safeAway's customer service. If so then yes, as I mentioned before, there can be a processing time of about three weeks.

I can see in my system, that your case have been handled and that you have been compensated for your extra expenses covered by safeAway.

Easy to purchase

Easy to purchase, fine print docs were easily available. Didn't need to use the insurance on my travels.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that your flight was cancelled.

I have looked through your case and my guess is that you might have confused Falck Global Assistance with your travel agency in the U.K that you were trying to get a hold of.
Falck Global Assistance has received an e-mail from you and replied two days later as your request was not urgent.

FGA needs some information from you before they can let you know whether your claim is covered or not.
If you did in fact not receive the above mentioned e-mail from FGA, please contact FGA directly at claims@safeaway.dk og by phone 44451717.

Contact could be more friendly

Everything works fine and fast. I wish the rules presented on the website would be more clear. The contact with the company is fast and clear, but I wish it was less formal and more supportive and friendly.

We are always trying to improve our website content so that all customers find the information they are looking for in the quickest way possible. With that said, most of the website content is in Danish, so the place to go for information for English speakers, would be through the English version of our terms and conditions document found through "Downloads".
We're also happy to read that the service you received was fast and clear. Unfortunately in insurance, much of the information we give out has a very formal character due to the nature of the product. We are sorry if you do not feel you got the support you needed.

In general, we are happy to answer all of your questions either through e-mail or over the phone on weekdays between 9am and 3pm.

Expensive, bad reachability, not helpful when my luggage got lost

Insurance is quite expensive for what you get. When I had the situation a few weeks ago that my luggage got lost (I took the plus option that includes baggage) after a recent flight I got no help. Reaching the support line was very difficult outside of 10am-3pm hours (and subcontracted to another company so they did not know contract specifics).

Thank you for your comment.

First of all, we find it important to clarify that the alarm center, administered by Falck Global Assistance is open 24/7. As stated on your policy documents, all claims must be filed to Falck's alarm center. The support center/safeAway customer service is open on all weekdays from 9 am-3 pm.

Regarding your case, we would like to clarify that "baggage delay" claims are covered solely on outbound trips, not on return trips to your home country.
In case your baggage went missing (happens when the airline declares that it has discontinued searching for your suitcase), you would be covered cf. your baggage add-on purchase.
Airline companies usually spend 30 days looking for a delayed suitcase before they "give up" and declare it lost. If your suitcase has been declared lost, you are more than welcome to file a claim.

Excellent service

I hurt my back and could not catch my flight home from India and SafeAway were super helpful and bought my and my girlfriend new flights and paid for the bill at the doctor's office.
