They are ghosting me and unable to help with my us tax refund. I hope I see my refund but I feel like it’s pointless at this point. Completely poor customer service. I wish I didn’t stat using their services

I was in the USA under the Work and Travel program and contacted RT Tax to help me obtain my U.S. tax refund. They later told me that the IRS did not issue my refund.

Almost two years later, when I returned to the USA, I contacted the IRS directly. The IRS informed me that my refund had actually been issued and sent about a year earlier, and that I should have received it.

I tried to contact the company that helped me file my taxes to clarify the situation, but they stopped responding to my messages.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company and would strongly advise others to be careful before using their services.

I am waiting for more than 21 months for my refund at this point. I find it very misleading, that they state "refund takes 10-12 months" on their page, and when contacted via e-mail, they respond (on second e-mail, first one did not even get a response) that it may take longer (but they never say how long). At first, they are very communicative, because they ask you to pay extra 90 dolars to pay for their services (which they never mentioned before), but after you pay that, the communication fades very quickly. Now, all I can do is hope that they will refund me at least some day. Would not recommend.

I contacted Reisen Ap in 2025 for a German tax refund. Without my knowledge or consent, they transferred my case to RT Tax.

RT Tax initially calculated a €1277 refund for the 2023 tax year, but later reduced it to €166. On the same day they sent me this new amount (June 30), they submitted my tax return without asking for my approval. After fees, I was told I would receive only €47 — and I haven’t received the money yet.

In comparison, when I was eligible for only €20 for 2024, they asked me several times if I wanted to proceed — and I refused. But for a slightly higher €47 refund in 2023, they made the decision on their own.

They also claimed my employer hadn’t provided a necessary certificate, so I had to obtain it myself. I sent it to them in PDF, and three days later they submitted the declaration. Still, they charged me €20 for that document — which I collected and sent myself.

They ignore emails, do not provide proper explanations, and refuse to send me my tax case number (Aktenzeichen). They clearly act in their own financial interest, not the client’s. I feel misled and disrespected.

I mean they did everything from start to finish with informing me on every step. And, as promised - without any upfront fee. Thanks!

SCAM ALERT! Avoid at all cost. So I applied for my taxes with them, since I worked in the US as a non resident. After providing all documents they told me I should receive 223$, surprisingly low. So I email them about it, hoping they will explain the deductions that were made from the amount I calculated and they gave me the most braindead answer: "you do not get all of your taxes back". Then after that stopped answering for 1 month. Infuriated I did not provide them with my bank details (last step required) and quickly filed my taxes on TURBO tax (I had 1 week before period was over) and guess what, I just got 2 checks worth of 888$ total. So they were literally scamming me for 650$....

I am the only one who applied for a tax refund with RT Tax, and I’m the only one who hasn’t received it yet. It’s been 2 years. This is the worst company, with the worst customer service. They don’t care. I don’t recommend them

I had a pretty bad experience with RTTAX, and after everything that happened, I was left with a lot of concerns. Here’s what went wrong:

1. Refund Amount Changed Without Explanation:

RTTAX changed the amount of my refund without giving me a clear reason. After waiting for 8 months, I received a refund that was much lower (about 800€) than what I was originally told. The lack of explanation really raised some red flags.

2. Lack of Transparency on Fees:

When I emailed them why they changed the refund amount they started talking about how they also got lower commission, but never explained how that would affect my refund. While I understand tax agencies charge fees, they weren’t upfront about the details. I’m left wondering if the fee was accurate or just inflated.

3. Blaming the IRS:

One email I got claimed that the refund came directly from the IRS via Payoneer, and RTTAX seemed to suggest the IRS had reduced the amount. But they didn’t provide any proof to back up that claim. It felt like they were just trying to shift the blame instead of offering a solid explanation.

4. No Official IRS Documentation:

RTTAX promised to send me an official IRS document, but instead, I got a vague screenshot from the IRS website. This wasn’t enough to prove any changes to my refund. An official document should have specific details, but that’s not what they provided.

5. Defensive and Unhelpful Customer Service:

When I reached out for more information, someone named Vaida had a really evasive response. They said the IRS “has the right” to adjust refunds but didn’t give me any concrete evidence or a clear answer about why mine was changed. The defensive tone just made everything feel even more suspicious.

Overall, I was misled and left in the dark. If you're thinking about using RTTAX, don’t. And judging by all of these reviews it just feels like they are simply pocketing the difference of your refund money.

So, me ans My girlfriend applied for tax return from Germany 11 months ago. They missplaced our documents, we had to pay our fee to them, and we still havent seen any real money in our bank accounts. I don't evwn believe that they will return any money to us. It is totally ridiculous.

I had to pay tax to the company I worked with, and they helped me for $29 USD commission. Except they told me the wrong amount even when I specifically messaged them to confirm how much I needed to pay. When I received a letter later stating I had overdue tax and I had to pay interest, I emailed them to find out what happened, and they sent me a rude reply saying if I hadn’t followed their instructions then I would have accrued interest - but I did follow their instructions and paid a lot of money to receive said instructions! Very unhappy with the service, choose another company in the future.

The best tax company! The fastest refund. The agents are nice and friendly and helped me filling all the documents.

I have now been waiting for my taxes for over 8 months, and was just informed that will have to wait for another 13 weeks, because my cheque was send to an old address and that was the HMRC's fault. The explanation, as to why has that happened in the first place from the guy on the phone was an absolute joke and made no sense whatsoever.
In absolutely no circumstance should anyone ever use this company for anything. They provide zero information about their services, the provided details on the site are very misleading or completely false. The operators, bless them its not their fault, but they are as adequate as the company is.
Just don't work with them - Ridiculous is an understatement for the services they provide!

All of my peers have received their tax returns months back and much more than i will be getting (if im going to be getting anything at all) from RTTAX. A big scam imo for J1 students on work and travel programs

Took 5 month to get my refund, i’m very happy and highly reccomended, i was thinking all the time that it may be fake but no, they really do their job. thanks again and will do business again with them

Until you haven't sent your papers to them they are really interested working to get your taxes back - once I did everything what they asked for, didn't hear about them anymore.. For this - later I got an answer that happened because of the holidays - as a customer I got a feeling I got fooled. I decided to cancel my contract with them and had to do it everything by my own with the tax office in Austria, and it was definitely worth it. I ended up getting double amount of the tax back as what they calculated for me. I don't recommend this place to anyone - it's more worth to figure it out by your own that use service of them. And if its because of the language better to ask help from somewhere else, pretty sure thats gonna be cheaper option.

It's also interesting that it's not possible to leave reviews in Google or either on Facebook for them. Looks like there is something to hide - otherwise if your service would be excellent you would give customers an option to leave a review to different channels.
