Received a faulty Seaboard 2

Received a faulty Seaboard 2 Christmas of 2024. Just like 2025, support was absolute chaos and it was obvious from many reports that QC was lacking for all products.

Upon asking if a replacement would be fault free, they simply replied that they can’t guarantee that, but that a firmware update would be released instead.

This confirms at least one thing. QC is indeed lacking. They deliberately choose to skip on proper testing to save on cash and prefer dealing with after sales support instead, otherwise manufacturing and shipping is delayed even more…

They also lie about resolving issues through updates. Nothing was released, nothing is being worked on…likely nothing will be released ever.

Great products and presentation. And the team is nice. Trusty company

The products are great and the team quite responsive although (understandable in some situations) it took sometimes a few days to answer. The known issues with the delivery terms may be an inconvenient but I guess they will solve that in the future. I can't complain so far about the products though. And the software is also working as intended until now. I have a few months of using the Roli M keyboards with no issues and enjoying making music a lot, and now I finally received the Airwave these days and just installed it. It took a while with the settings of the Airwave but after that all is working well and I already used it in some piece of music I was working on.
So from my part the company deserves 5 stars for their products, both hardware and software, for being trustworthy, and also for the team being nice and helpful. And I suppose that the long waiting for the Airwave was worth it in spite of the 3 delayed dates for delivery. As a friend of mine said watching me playing with it I look now like a wizard of sound making.

The product itself is amazing...delivery and customer service have some issues.

The product itself is amazing. I had a long wait time for delivery placed my order in January and received order in December. A year is just too long. I understand things come up but a $100 app credit is not a justifiable compensation for a product this expensive that took a year to deliver. When I submitted tickets to customer service it is generally 2-3 weeks before I hear a response. I have not recieved all my items and the keyboard and airwave do not always function as intended. Lots of times I have to restart the app as it won't track the keys I play and won't progress the lessons. Overall I would buy again as the product is great but there are definitely areas for improvement.

Marvelous expressiveness

There were some delivery problems, but the company was very generous in compensating with an incredible soundbundle. The product (Seaboard Rise 2) after it arrived is marvelous. It is truly a game changer in expressiveness when playing, although getting the hang of playing it requires some pratice.

Roli is amazing

Roli is an amazing company. The hardware is robust, durable and of quality. I bought a Piano M and the experience was amazing so I bought a second one to attach magnetically to the first and be able to play more comfortably with 2 hands.
The app is also great and is frequently improved and updated with new songs. My kids also love to play.

Faulty ROLI Piano out of the box

I ordered a piano and Airwave bundle in October. I was really excited to receive it just before Christmas.

The piano came with minor scratches on the top probably from shipping in a poorly designed packaging but that isn't a big concern for me.

The main issue is that the piano came with a dead battery out of the box, so I filed a support ticket (#235738) on December 20th. I got an automated response on December 24th apologizing for the delay and telling me that they were "working through a large backlog of support tickets".

It has now been 4 weeks and still no news from the support team meaning I am probably not the only one having hardware problems...

Since then, I came across another issue. A black key became faulty and only registers a stroke when you press it really hard. I should consider myself lucky because after a quick search I found out other customers got pianos with several defective keys out of the box.
I didn't even bother filing another ticket regarding this key problem (pun intended) as my first ticket hasn't been processed after 4 weeks.

I would like to point out that I also paid for a 1 year subscription to the ROLI learn app that I can't fully use because of the aforementioned problems.

While this product looks great on paper, as of now I think it is an overpriced MIDI keyboard with lacking quality control and nonexistent customer support so in my opinion you should look for a better quality alternative that might even come cheaper.

Nothing would make me happier than to update this review if ROLI support can finally replace or fix my piano. Until then, my advice to you is to avoid giving your hard earned money to this untrustworthy company.

Absolutely top of the line innovating…

Absolutely top of the line innovating in piano making with lights, sounds etc.

The app could be a bit less expensive overall (monthly subscription , at least for customers with more than one product.

I love to support of course - that’s why I still have a subscription without being to active. But please keep this in mind for beginners who doesn’t have the money for a 15-20dollars subscription a month.

Besides that - the instruments are phenomenal!

Extremely pathetic brand.

Extremely pathetic brand.
I ordered my Piano expecting to receive it by Christmas but now it is delayed until March. People are getting their pianos scratched and with broken keys.
I received my airwave but I cannot play it or test it until the piano arrives 3 months later.
They figured out the marketing but suck in everything else.

ROLI is my favourite company in the entire world

ROLI is my favourite company in the entire world. They are so innovative, and their products are TOP QUALITY. Their instruments are beautiful to learn & play. They delight you from the moment you turn them on! Their software performs EXQUISITELY and the GUI is simply gorgeous. ROLI sounds are wonderful and infinitely inspiring. Equator2 is pretty much the only software I need to use. THANK YOU ROLI!

My advice: stay away and save your money.

Great concept and a genuinely compelling idea. Unfortunately, like many others here, we never received our products.
I have been waiting for over 12 months in New Zealand, during which time there have been repeated broken promises and false assurances. The pattern of behaviour is deeply concerning.
My advice: stay away and save your money.

The products are good

The products are good, especially the Seaboard Rise, witch is an exceptional instrument. I have mixed feeling for the Airwave that, for now, doesn't work perfectly well on Windows 11. I hope for some updates (from Windows or from Roli). The customer service is fine, they always answer, even if they have been a little overwelmed after the release of the Airwave and took some time, but they don't forget to answer.

Great Products, Great Service, Some Recent Logistical Hiccups

I've been a Roli owner for a while, I have two Piano M's, a Seaboard and some blocks.

I really enjoy these products!

I'm not a professional, just a hobbyist, but I find the Roli ecosystem really easy to work with and enjoyable to play.

The Pianos are great as compact portable keyboards. Having two separate small keyboards that can join into one big one is so nice for traveling.

The Learn software with the keyboards feels like a phenomenal way to learn. I do wish you could purchase just the lesson part of the software, though. I understand the need for it to be a subscription service given the library of licensed music, but I'd prefer that being divorced from the learning. Having learning be locked behind a subscription really puts pressure on doing lessons, which is good in a way but also caused me to have to pause for now. I hope to resume the subscription in the future when I have more time to dedicate to lessons.

The Seaboard is kind of a magical instrument. There's nothing else like it that I've tried, and it's really fun to use. The ability to mimic a variety of physical instruments is impressive, and the 5D touch effects combined with the library of synths and effects provided in Roli Studio is super fun to play with.

The blocks are a great addition to the ecosystem. They're not sold anymore, but still supported. They don't really add much that can't be done with the on-screen controls, but for just playing around or live performances they're a cool addon. The touch block is also really hackable, I had some fun turning it into a custom soundboard!

Now I have to say, I got all of my products before last year. I'm still active in the community so I've seen the issues Roli ran into with tariffs, government shutdowns and other logistical nightmare problems that has caused a lot of peoples' orders to be extremely delayed.

I feel for everyone on both sides of this problem, but I worry that Roli's reputation as a company is taking a much bigger hit from this than they deserve.

My experience with the customer service has been exceptional, personally, and I don't really fault them for any of the issues that have happened.

I hope that Roli can turn things around because their product line is truly unique and special and I'd like to see more people get to enjoy these interesting ways to make music!

Over a year of delays resulting in buggy/broken products

Over a year of delays. Finally received everything and it's a buggy mess. Support takes forever to respond, their help site is broken, refund tool says my order number is invalid, and the only recourse is to reach out to them on social media. An absolutely absurd way to run a business for a $800 product. Doing everything I can to get a refund, otherwise I'll be pursuing options with my credit card company. DO NOT buy their products.

Rekindled my love of creating music

I tried Roli because the previous MPE keyboard I had stopped working and the company had gone away. At first I was a bit intimidated by the cost and waited for a sale. I didn't want to drop a wad of cash for a paperweight. When I received my Seaboard M the box it came in was very nice, I still have it. Everything inside was carefully lid out and once I plugged it in and started playing it I was hooked. Getting it to record on a separate DAW was a bit of a challenge, no shade to Roli for that, my DAW at the time was not up to par. I now use Reaper which is pretty seamless with Roli. I was happy with the sounds that came with the initial setup and I purchased a few more packs in the past year. This device has not been idle collecting dust, I use it often and I like the small form factor. I am not a professional musician, I am a hobbyist, but I feel great with the sounds I can get out of the Seaboard M. I highly recommend this MPE keyboard for anyone who wants to explore sounds that you can't get anywhere else.
