Riverwaterwatch.com was built because we love river cruising. We help river cruise passengers understand river cruise water levels and the risk of disruption across Europe’s major cruise rivers, including Danube water levels, Rhine water levels, Elbe water levels and Seine water levels. If you are checking Rhine river cruise water levels, Danube river cruise conditions, low water on the Danube, low water on the Rhine, high water, flooding, changing river conditions or the likelihood of a river cruise itinerary being disrupted, River Water Watch is designed to make that information much easier to understand. Every morning, we bring together official river gauge readings, rainfall forecasts, current river conditions and historical river data to assess the likelihood of river cruise disruption. Instead of asking passengers to interpret hydrology reports or monitor individual gauges themselves, we turn the information into a simple view of how likely a cruise is to sail as planned. We monitor both low water river cruise conditions and high water river cruise conditions, with particular attention to the stretches of the Rhine and Danube that can affect European river cruise itineraries. Our river cruise water level forecasts are intended to help passengers who are researching a future trip as well as those already booked and watching conditions before departure. Google describes River Water Watch as “a completely legitimate, independent tool used by travelers to track and predict water levels on Europe’s cruise rivers.” That independence matters to us. River Water Watch is not affiliated with any cruise line or waterway authority. We are also huge fans of the river cruise industry and know how hard cruise operators work to keep itineraries running when river conditions are outside their control. Useful info about the likelihood of disruption to the itinerary; and indeed with a 99% chance of disruption, the cruise was cancelled. It was good to have been prepared.

Very Useful Easy to Use Service
This service is so helpful and easy to use. I have a cruise scheduled on the Danube for October and want to know what the chances are that it will be disrupted by low water levels. I don't have time to review rain fall amounts in the Danube River Basin or to monitor the water level gauges on the Danube. The good news is that Riverwaterwatch is doing it for me. And they can do that for you as well. Highly recommend their service.

We are going on a Grand European River Cruise
We are going on a Grand European River Cruise soon and need to keep up to date on the situation on the Rhine and Danube Rivers, so seeing the river levels in real time is very important. The Riverwaterwatch.com site is easy to understand and gives me regular updates.

Rhine River Water Level Watch for Viking River Cruise
For 2026, there has been a record heat wave and drought in Europe. I booked my Viking River Cruise two years ago, so naturally, I was very concerned about the Rhine River levels as the time approaches. I truly appreciate River Water Watch keeping an eye on it and reporting to me so I can anticipate what to expect!

You don't have to: we look every morning and will email you the moment your figure moves, either way. And a low reading is not a cancelled cruise. It’s been nice to get some information…
It’s been nice to get some information and indication of river levels before our trip. River levels seem to change often, so it’s helpful to get updates closer to our trip.
