ReTurntables is a one-person restoration workshop based in Porto, Portugal, specialising in vintage Pioneer turntables — including the PL-12D, PL-530, PL-550, PL-570, PL-50LII, and the XL-A700. Every deck that comes through the workshop is fully disassembled, cleaned, and serviced by hand, with no shortcuts taken. The restoration process goes well beyond a basic clean-up. Electronic boards are fully recapped with premium Nichicon and Panasonic components, safety-critical parts are upgraded to modern X2-rated film capacitors, motors are stripped and re-oiled, and the notoriously failure-prone auto-return timing circuits are rebuilt and calibrated on an oscilloscope. Cabinets are re-veneered in real hardwood — Wenge, Walnut, Oak, and other finishes are available — and finished by hand with a beeswax and linseed oil coating. Each unit gets a custom gold-plated RCA output panel and a brand new dust cover. Before anything ships, every turntable is play-tested across multiple sessions with a test record and wow & flutter meter, and checked against factory specification on several mechanical tolerances.
