Not worth the cost
My wife treated me to dinner for my birthday.
The positives - the interior of the restaurant is very nice. The food was good.
The not so good for our visit - I think the restaurant was under staffed on the night we visited as there appeared to be quite a bit of stress with the staff who were there. We arrived and the hostess was very cold. No smile, no welcome, no offer to take my wife's jacket and put it in the jacket closet. She pointed out our table and we walked there on our own and seated ourselves. There was a drinks menu on the table but no wine list - after waiting for over 10 minutes for anybody to come and chat to us about the dinner etc, we waved down a waitress and asked for a wine list. The wine list only has the bottles available and not mention of by the glass - we waived down the waitress and asked about wine by the glass. She informed us the chef would come and let us know - which he did - 10 minutes later. He rattled off 3 white wines - so we asked about the red - and he rattled off 3 red wines - no prices mentioned - which were euro 15.50/glass - very expensive for a VERY small glass of red. The chef brought the bottle, did not show us the label - and proceeded to pour the glass of wine. My wife asked if she could see the label and he rudely informed her he would show her once he had poured the wine. No small taste first etc. He is no sommelier. His energy was very frenetic and he was not at all friendly. Anyway, they only offer a 4 or 5 course menu on weekends. My wife informed them 3 weeks before our booking that she does not eat meat. The first 2 courses were fish which is fine as she eats fish - my main course was a meat dish which was good - she was served a 3rd fish dish - they could have been a little more creative than just serving a larger portion of the 2 dish of the night. The service only improved towards the end of the evening when the staff appeared to have relaxed a little. The food was 3.5/5 stars - it was nice but not great for the price. Service was 1/5.
Will I go back - no.
