We do advise that during our inspections we do not remove any parts from the vehicle during the check which does mean that if components are buried in the engine bay that we may not be able to access and assess.
For this reason we do highly encourage everyone to both check the sample reports on our website, and to read through the exclusions to ensure the service is fit for your purposes.

A lot of details, but nothing that really mattered. What I wanted to know, I didn't get. I would rather get my own mechanic in the future.

Hmmmm...
Overall, not bad. Engine light came on after purchasing the car indicating that the engine was low on oil. RedBook report indicated that engine oil was at a good level and slightly discoloured, but when checked it and topped it up it didn't even register on the dipstick, and what was there was pitch black!
RedBook checks give a basic summary of surface level observations.
** Thank you for your response. As your response is basically saying we don’t care and it’s your problem, I won’t use Redbook again and I cannot recommend the service. Shame.

As the name suggests this is our entry level lite package and is a more cursory check compared to our standard and ultimate packages.

Jason is a full legend! His report was so comprehensive and he followed up with a phone call to see if I needed any clarification. He told me I could contact him whenever for future questions regarding the seller completing various jobs Jason said were essential prior to purchase. He was so friendly and professional and helped me feel confident buying a car.

The inspector who completed our report…
The inspector who completed our report missed some pretty straightforward things.
- The tinting on the Drivers window was bubbled and you can’t see out of it so the car wouldn’t pass rego. This was not included in the report.
- On the vehicle details report the inspector selected the 2026 model of the car, which has different specifications to the 2020 model I purchased.
Pretty basic stuff that shouldn’t have been gotten wrong when you’re paying $300+
I should have just organised an inspection with a local mechanic.
The other detail in the report might have been helpful to someone who didn’t know much about cars.
