Our self build completed 5 years ago…

Our self build completed 5 years ago uses Rationel windows and doors. We have two pairs of ‘French windows’ both started to leak resulting in pools of water on the steps inside the rooms, this a couple of months after the warrantee expired. I had posted a critical review of their customer service but have now deleted it as Rationel/Dovista have now sent fitters from installers MLO who have rectified the problem snd even improved the original installation without charge. As self builders with heat pump, heavy insulation and airtightness we chose rationel because the timber frame gives superior thermal efficiency and the exterior aluminium powder coating reduced need for maintenance.

Aftersales terrible

We required a repair to a Rationel window door.
Rationel refuse to accept any responsibility for their contracted servicing company.
The company only accepts full bank transfer payment up front.
We have been charged £800 + vat to fit a complete new door.
The 1hr of fitting has damaged the door and the company doesn't return to fix or proactively engage.
If I had known the aftersales issues I would never have spent so much on specialist doors.

Outstanding customer service.…

So much nicer to work with nice people

So much nicer to work with nice people! Miles has been great to deal with throughout the process of getting my Rationel glass replaced. Prompt response to emails, turned up when he said he would, solved the problem, and even cleaned the glass after installation. Thank you!

We bought a house with Rationel alu…

We bought a house with Rationel alu clad windows which were 18 years old . One would think if you read their advertising stating 86 years life expectancy that at 18 year old they would be fine. Think again folks. The more I dig the more I find these windows have built in obsolescence . Thin paint on wood , cheap screws holding on alu cladding that have rusted as not stainless, Chinese hardware all in all hopeless and Rationel won’t sell us spare parts. Now faced with 50 k bill to replace with a decent quality. Rationel so unhelpful.

Update 5 Jan 26 Thank you very much for your update and reply by the way… it’s taking you two months to even reply. Chris newtons mobile has been provided before .. the number never gets answered and left message never any return call. Probably a mobile in the guys sock drawer . You lot talk the talk in your brochures and I’ve even tried talking to a guy at an exhibition who promised me he would “ personally sort it out “ but absolutely no back up. Rationel used to be a good product and good company but would never go near your product again. The more I dig into reading other peoples reviews on forums so many people have had the same experience you avoid warranty claims like the plague and you just don’t want to know. The fact it has taken you since the 5th of November to the 5th of January over 2 months to even reply just says it all. We have found a suitable company now who provide proper skandinavian windows rather than the poor quality polish and Latvian made products that you sell. It’s about as Danish as Bolton . Very misleading marketing don’t touch them Folks

Dangerous issue and no response

While opening one of our Rationel windows the track on the side hinge went beyond the extension limit stopper and the window effectively fell out only being stopped by the hinge arms. Had one of our small children opened the window on this occasion they could have been badly hurt.
My husband tried to get these sliding tracks back into their track but could not do it himself.
The only way to make the window safe and secure was to remove the hinge and push the window into a closed position and lock it. This meant that throughout the summer while waiting for rationale to come and see to the window we couldn’t open it.
We asked Rationel to please come out and fix urgently and over a month later we still have not received a reply despite multiple follow ups. Not good enough.

Needed a spare key for a lock that is…

Needed a spare key for a lock that is 20+ years old. Local locksmith couldn't source a blank but Dovista/ Rationel sent me 2 blanks straight away - and they fit the old lock! Very pleased with their aftersales service.

Replacing Trickle Vent

I have very smart Rationel windows in my holiday cottage. Recently one of the guests broke the Trickle Vent cover off. I didn't quite know where to start so I decided to ring the office not expecting to be helped in such an amazing way by 'Lesley'. I was so relieved to have her help in deciding which vent it was, how to fit it, deciding at the last minute where to send the replacement PLUS free of charge. I cannot praise Lesley enough. If only replacing a small thing was always made so easy. Everyone needs a 'Lesley'!

Installation of new Rationel windows - MLO installers

We got Rationel Windows and recently one of them was broken by some vandalism act.
When I contacted MLO installers about the replacement, they were very professional and responsive in terms of the type of work and timelines.
Once agreed on the installation day, the work was executed perfectly. These were heavy 114kg windows for a 1st floor so not at all easy.
Thanks to Miles and the team, now we perfect windows again.
Highly recommended

Very impressed with Joe from MLO…

Very impressed with Joe from MLO Installations, a company working on behalf of Rationel Windows. He replaced our broken handle and adjusted the window to make it smoother, then asked if any other windows needed adjustment and got our big sliding window working much more smoothly.

Rationel doors and windows Service visit.

Rationel doors and windows were fitted to my house in Norfolk by the house-builder six years ago. The products are very good and provide the necessary draught and thermal insulation to compliment our air source heat-pump underfloor heating. A couple of niggles developed with two of the external doors over the last couple of years and I requested a service visit to resolve these minor problems and to check and service all four external doors. This was done by a pair of very competent, capable and affable service technicians who also conducted a quick check on all 12 Rationel windows in the house. You are never sure what level of competence you will get when technicians come to your house, I just wish they could all be as good as these two were.

Avoid. Time wasters and dishonest.

Biggest time wasting, dishonest company I've ever dealt with. Don't take my word alone for it. Check out their Google reviews. There are alternative companies that offer the same product from the parent company that will treat you professionally.
