Avoid Pulse Power like the plague!

Stay away from this company at all costs.

This has been the worst experience of my life and is now a massive headache.

The first headache I had with Pulse Power was when they redid their website, and said I had to re-sign up to the website in order to use it to pay my bill.

So I tried to sign up, it didn’t work. I called support, they tried to help me through the sign up process. It didn’t work. Their system was broken. I’m very busy and working all the time etc. so it’s easy to forget about stuff.

4 months later I racked up nearly $1000 in past due payments, so I try to sign up again and this time it worked, and I started paying my current bills, on time, every time, full amounts.. I meant to pay down the past due balance when I could (I was under SEVERE financial distress at the time).

After a while they sent me a disconnect notice and said unless I pay the $1000 in full they would turn off my service BEFORE I got my next paycheck.

No amount of pleading with them would work. I had to take a loan out to pay the amount they wanted to set me up on a deferred payment plan.

This caused my finances to be a wreck for half a year.

The next problem that comes is they promise you super low rates, then you join, and your contract is up, then the price goes up.

The final problem I am still dealing with.. It seems that they have gone the way of 3rd world country subcontracting for telephone support.

They also removed their address from their website and do not have an address anymore on their site, which should be illegal.

Anyway while packing and moving and also managing to do all my work and other responsibilities I missed an email from them about my last bill.

Thing is, I never realized I owed them any money because I moved out March 31, and the bill was for March.

Around the same time I got an email from another power company saying that my services were being transferred there. I went to login to my account at Pulse Power and it said I owe $0, and the Make Payment button is greyed out.

So I assumed I owe them nothing..

So I saw the new power company said I owe them X amount of money.

I called them up, they confirmed, Pulse Power moved me over to them and what I see that I owe is for the final month of service, that my account is already cancelled. So I put that amount in my budget to set aside money to pay them.

I did this for everything including the final gas bill. I WENT BACK TO PULSE POWER’S WEBSITE to triple check and make absolute sure I don’t owe them anything.

The dashboard still said I owe $0 and Make Payment button is greyed out.

Come May 12 I get an email from a collection agency saying that Pulse Power sent my debt to collections.

Now realize:

Pulse Power NEVER attempted to contact me through ANY MEANS AT ALL since the initial automated invoice in March. They didn’t email me saying I had a past due balance, they didn’t call me, they didn’t send me any letters, AND … THEIR OWN WEBSITE said I owe $0.

After getting the email from the collection agency I dug deeper and saw indeed the invoice from March but it was buried in the past bills section.

I called Pulse Power which led me to a call center where it sounds like they’re having a super loud party with people laughing and talking and it sounds like a bar.

Then the 3rd world country rep tells me that I can’t pay them because it’s been sent to collections and they can’t pull it back from collections.

This is a lie because my property manager tried to charge me bogus charges, and I disputed them and during the dispute process their computer automatically sent my debt to the SAME collection agency, and when I contacted the property manager about it HE PULLED THE DEBT OUT OF COLLECTIONS and then we subsequently settled the dispute and I set up a payment arrangement.

So I am stuck with this situation where my credit history is at risk over a matter of $80 that the company will not let me pay, and the account should have never been sent to collections in the first place.

THEY NEVER TRIED TO CALL OR EMAIL OR ANYTHING TELLING ME I HAD A PAST DUE BALANCE.

I absolutely hate this company. And this company and others have made me regret my choice to move to Texas.

AVOID. LIKE. THE. PLAGUE.

Very competitive electric rates and customer service

When shopping for electric rates in Texas be sure to check Pulse Power website. I have a been a customer for several years and continue to renew contract because their rates are the lowest I have found. Use autopay for add'l discount and have experienced no problems with billing.
