Poor
Lack of support. Offered help and support during a meeting but no attended! Joke!!!! Waste of money and time!!!! Avoid!!!!
Weak union
Weak union unwilling to take on employer. Communication severely lacking as well.
Absolute joke of a union
Absolute joke of a union. Just have been told all my details have been stolen in a data breach 4 months ago and they just told me now. They don't want to accept responsibility. When ever you call the help line the advisors are always busy and told to call back. Better off giving your money to a donkey sanctuary. I'll be cancelling my direct debit and go somewhere else.
Data breach complancy
Just heard my personal data was breached 4 months ago and the Union kept it quiet. ( Didn't bother to write but announced it on the website)
Yet the announcement that membership fees are rising seems to be worthy of writing ( using a wrong name!)
After 20+ years membership you'd think they could be a little more engaged Or could it be a example of the Union priorities ?
I think a cancelling of my direct debit needs considering
Total disaster not worth the membership fee
I jeeded help twice from them during my membership, l needed representation to put pressure on my employer which does big lay off events as well as individual layoffs constantly.
I told this union l only need someone's half hour to come to a meeting with me. No help at all. Different excuses and no one ever joined the meetings with me.
They only keep senidng discount codes and they believe it's the way of helping workers.
Let down by Prospects union
I've been a member for many years , after a serious health condition occured my employer started to discriminate against me due to my disability. Turned to the union for support and received very little, only excuses and misinformation from local reps .Asked to speak to the outside area convenor and was told they were too busy. This is a self serving organisation who will only waste your hard earned money. Don't join. If you need help it's better to speak to citizens advice or members of the legal establishment.
As a result of my experience with this appalling union I have now left my employer.
Soft on pay, weak on personal support
- Soft on department pay negotiation (salaries have fallen way behind even other civil service depts)
- Lack of support HQ pensions officer (no replies to a basic question to understand an important detail)
- Unethical behaviour re. subs (refused to refund an overpayment after going part-time, and applied the retirement reduction a month late)
Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling. My brother was knocked off his motorcycle by a reckless car driver and suffered traumatic brain injury in July 2023. He has been in hospital for over a year, and it looks like he will never be able to return to work due to brain injuries sustained. His employer decided to end his salary within a few months citing previous sick leave, but have never ever been able to produce any evidence of sick leave taken. An OH assessment should have been undertaken before ceasing his pay, but their OH people assessed via a phone call and shockingly said: "he's not capable of completing a questionnaire" rather than saying, he's clearly not capable of completing a questionnaire and therefore not capable of returning to work.
The union then advised us to ask for an employee handbook (turns out there is no such thing) and they have since failed to respond to folow up calls and emails. But guess what, they continue to take money out of his bank account, despite doing absolutely nothing to help or provide relevant or helpful advi

Disgrace!!!
Disgrace!!!
Money stealers.
They send some useless emails and don't care about people at all.
Avoid at all costs.
Rude and dismissive
I'm shocked by how bad the support is here. I understood after speaking to someone on the helpline that I couldn't receive representation or legal advice for my grievance as the incident I was complaining about (which was longstanding and ongoing) started before I signed up. Although I had been a member for well over a year so it's not like I signed up yesterday expecting full legal representation. However I was told that I could still phone in for general advice on work related matters as I am a paying member. That was a lie as when I last phoned in Rachel picked up and before I even finished my sentence in the rudest tone answered 'I remember you I TOLD YOU ALREADY WE'RE NOT HELPING YOU'. She wouldn't even let me get a word in to explain that I was not phoning about the same issue. I gave up trying to explain and cancelled my membership on the spot. Signed up to a new Union and I am already recieving support. Don't bother with these people they just want your money.
A complete waste of money
A complete waste of money. I have been paying in for years and when I need them to help with disability discrimination, they won't help at all. I have been completely deadlocked and am going to lose my job.
Was a member for 10 years
Was a member for 10 years. The only time I asked them for help following obvious bullying by Senior Management, they refused. Totally useless Union which is happy to take your money without doing anything for it. Save your money is my advice. Can't believe this organisation still exists.
Not helpful or professional
Prospect were expensive and seemed unwilling to help when I needed them. It took 2 weeks for them to come back to me after multiple chases. I got absolutely nothing from the membership, even though I attended some of the groups. I would not recommend them. It's a shame, as the solidarity of a Union could have brought a sense of community.
Everything
Awful experience
Earlier this year I sought help from Protect with a situation at work where I wanted an adjustment for my disability. My line manager misled me so that I didn't know about the right form to fill in, and he covertly misstated my condition on an occupation health referral to make it sound less like a disability and changed what I had asked for significantly. He began pretending I had interpersonal issues to bully me out of the job. So I went to prospect for help. Prospect continually dragged out the process for getting advice from them, did most things weeks after they had told me they had, and didn't pay attention to anything I was saying. They got my disability wrong several times, and it seemed deliberate that they didn't want to acknowledge any details which established it as a disability to avoid having any responsibility to help. In the end I got an outcome report from them which again misstated my disability, took my employers word over mine on everything, and even made out that I had legitimate interpersonal issues based on my disability, which was not evidenced by anything contemporaneous they had seen and completely ignored my account that my employer was making that up. I had a recording taken by my employer of a meeting where I didn't do anything wrong and an accompanying written account from them that made up issues from that meeting - therefore showing outright that they were lying. Prospect didn't want me to send it for them to review it even. It was so frustrating to have my trade union be the ones to try and twist the evidence against me. They misstated my disability in exactly the same way I was complaining my employer had done, so they had to have understood that they were pushing the knife in. I lost my job at the same time and cancelled my direct debit with Prospect so I could set it back up at the unemployed rate, but even though I was paid ahead for another month they suspended my membership and refused to give me any more advice. They were taking advantage. In the end I complained and asked for my money back, but they ignored me for weeks and kept missing their deadlines to respond. And then they would only respond to me in a without prejudice context to stop me from being able to share anything with a court. They didn't engage with the subject matter of my compliant at all, all their responses were written in response to some issue I hadn't even raised. Really shady tactics. I really don't recommend this organisation at all.
They are brilliant .I was in unite they…
They are brilliant .I was in unite they were crap . They prospect came in and we’re unbelievable fantastic. 99%of the time or there for advice or they get back to u next day . I am really really impressed with them . Thank u prospect staff for always being there and for yr support.
Corruption is indeed the correct…
Corruption is indeed the correct terminology for what Propect is. After three *attempts* to vote a (reject or approve) pay deal the unionised work force voted in favour for 51% rejection. The union however decided this was too close and accepted the offer against 51% of the work force.
The first vote statement was for the working man in their utter Jargon of a statement to us but then they changed their view after an additional 1% was added to the pay review. They said for us to vote yes to a deal 5.5% below the rate of inflation, urging us the company always wins. One smells a back handed deal the crafty cats. Steer wide of these profiteering buffoons.
Dreadful union
Dreadful union. An absolute waste of money. Union employees have no backbone or will to help.
They demonstrate clear collusion with the employer sorting deals before hearings.
So bad at their job, it nearly killed me. Didn't represent properly and abandoned a good case against an employer.
Don't waste your money on these charlatans.
Useless.
Going through a disciplinary, my representative was terrible. Didn't say a word during the interview, disconnected, and no other follow-up post-interview.
Will be joining another union ASAP.
