Avoid Promovendum and DAS

Avoid Promovendum and their legal partner DAS.

A straightforward third-party damage claim was mishandled through delays and inaction until recovery was no longer possible. What followed was worse: DAS refused legal assistance, shifting between policy clauses and never taking a consistent position. Communication was slow, unclear, and unhelpful.

I was initially also forced to pay part of the repair costs based on vague claims of “probable” pre-existing damage, despite evidence to the contrary.

After threatening with making a case with Kifid, Promovendum eventually made an offer to repay all cost on the condition that I would not seek legal advice — which says everything about how confident they were in their own handling of the case and how little they know about consumer protection.

Frankly, I received clearer and more consistent guidance using AI tools than from DAS’s so-called legal advisors.

After this experience, I moved all my insurance elsewhere.

Do yourself a favor read the Kifid judgments and reviews of these two companies and stay far away.

No claim discount policy that makes no sense at all

I moved to holland and want to buy a car, so I asked promovendum for a quote. I explained that when working abroad logically I drive a foreign car in a foreing country, and a dutch car in holland. I could get discount proving to have had no claims in previous years, so I did, I got a certificate from the insurer abroad certifying a number of years without claims. Promovendum acknowledged the certificates, but was not going to respect the no-claim as I keep driving a car abroad too. That makes no sense at all. I have hundreds of dutch clients with second home abroad who have also a second car in those countries and are not increase their premium in holland because of that. Try to deal with Promovendum has proven a waste of time and reading the reviews I am now glad I have not contracted with them. The remark that "the current situation with your lease car is not resolved yet"is yet another proof of how senseless this discussion is. There is no "situation with a lease car". What are they suggesting, I stop hiring cars when I am abroad to be able to contract with Promovendum?

I didn't find Promovendum by my side

While sitting home, someone crashed into my parked car and totalled it on 23 January 2022. After a couple of phone calls, I managed to have them send an independent expert for the valuation of my car. Three-four days later an expert came to my car and I am informed that the process may take 5 to 14 days. After a week or so, the valuation expert called me and told me the value of my car, which was under the current market value of similar cars. I told him that I won't accept it. I also called and informed the Promovendum that I won't accept this value. They told me that they will let me know once they receive the Valuation Report. A couple of weeks passed no one called/emailed. Around four weeks after the damage, I called them to ask if they received the report. On the phone, I am informed that they haven't received the report yet. I requested immediate action from them to get in touch with the evaluator to ask about the report. They called me back and told me that they contacted the evaluator and he is re-sending them the report, which had been sent beforehand but anyhow lost in their inbox. In this call, once again I let them know that I won't accept the current valuation. Then nobody called. On 23 February and called them to ask if they received the report. They told me that they received and sent the valuation report to the other insurance company without letting me know. I wrote down a complaint to Promovendum on 23 Feb. On 3 March called them to learn about the latest they told me that they didn't read my complaint letter yet.

Do you expect such an insurance company to solve your problems and be on your side when you have a problem? Once I told them that I will not accept this valuation they told me that I need to find a new valuation expert, pay for it and bring them a new valuation report. All need to be done by myself. Even though the other party accepted all the responsibility, I am paying the costs for this damage. My insurance company, Promovendum, is not taking any responsibility to help me in the process. Even though it says on their website, I will be given a rental car in case of damage (WA+Beperkt Casco), they evaded the responsibility and told me that I need to pay the %20 and the rest will be paid by the other insurance company.

In short: I lost my car, lost a lot of time, lost money, still didn't receive anything, and the money that I will receive at the end of the story will not buy me a similar car that I lost.

Insurance suddenly canceled by email

After 5 months they suddenly terminate 1 of the 2 car insurance by email with reason that they were already aware of because was discussed by telephone when I register the insurance. 🤔
The also give to little time to find other insurance because you have to wait at least couple of days before other insurance company will confirm car insurance is valid because they need to check why previous insurance company ended the insurance.
Although friendly call center employee she could not help me with extending insurance for couple more days to be able to find other insurance because managers who need to approve already went home.
So after midnight the car is now not insured anymore. 😡

Edit: Takes them more than a month to reply to an e-mail (this has happened more than once), takes them less than 30 minutes to respond to a bad review. That should tell you a lot about how the company is setup…

Unresponsive, slow service desk

Unresponsive, slow service desk. Even simple inquiries take them days, in some cases weeks to reply. I shudder to think how they deal with a real situation. That's why I moved over to a reputable insurer.

Poor overall customer experience

No app, you can never know the status of as claim, not even the staff can answer questions about when a claim will be dealt with...Going back to Zilveren Kruis. At least they are int he 21st century
