Their site barely functioned when I tried to make a purchase. I emailed them about it and asked how to make an international purchase, and they offered to have me pay directly through stripe. When that got sorted, I waited nearly a month and didn't get a tracking number or hear anything back from them. Finally they told me there was an issue with some sort of tarrif permissions through customs, as they did not have the right paperwork. So when that happens, US Customs just destroys the package apparently (love it here). 400 dollar glasses are now whale food. They were kind enough to offer me a 30% discount and reship a replacement. I waited another month and didn't get a tracking number. Finally got a tracking number and they sent it out. I checked back a week later and the Royal Mail site says they didn't pay for postage. I email them again to let them know, they reply with the usual "we'll look into it." I don't hear anything for another week, then I get impatient & tell them they can pay online and it shouldn't take a week to do that. Still don't hear anything back. Then I get more impatient and decide to just try and pay for the postage myself a couple days later. To my surprise, the package was delivered? From the UK to the US in 2 days? Of course not, it's nowhere to be seen. Nearly 3 months of waiting, I'm 400 dollars in the hole and still stuck with the old frames I've superglued together.

The service was exceptional. I reside in Nashville, Tennessee, within the state, which allows me to receive a reasonable price.

Ordered Zeiss DriveSafe lenses, and they are amazing for night driving—less glare and much clearer vision. However, there was a slight delay in delivery, which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. That said, the quality and customer service were excellent, so I’ll be back when I need new lenses!

Love my Raybans but the cost quoted for reglazing (verifocal, react to light) at my opticians was prohibitive.
It was cheaper to buy 241 but that's not what I wanted.

I wasn't sure what/how to order online but a quick conversation steered me right and definitely worth the two week wait.

Couldn’t be happier! I had my old frames fitted with EverClear Individual Progressives, and they are absolutely fantastic. The clarity is amazing, and the transition between distances is seamless. Customer service was brilliant, very helpful and patient. It took over two weeks, but worth the wait.

Took far too long, sent my frame for reglazing 08/01/20025, did not get back until a month later on 08/02/2025

I’ve been in glasses since I was a kid, and now in my 60s I’ve worn bifocals for years but recently found them difficult to look through. My optician suggested trying invisible bifocals lenses but no way I was paying 500 quid for them. Looked online and saw Principal Optical did them for cheaper. I couldn’t be happier.

I must say the glasses are exceptional and fit perfectly. The only complaint I have is the customer service. I was given a 15% discount code when shopping through the website. Not sure why, but I was unable to apply the discount code because there was no option to input it during checkout.

I placed the order on 8/17/2024 and emailed them regarding this issue. I received an email from Andrew Griffiths saying that, "Regarding the Coupon Code, I am able to perform a partial refund on this order to the value of 15% as I see you were unable to add it on checkout."

I replied to Andrew, tried contacting them through the Shop App, and even messaged them through the website, but was given no updates or responses. It's been over a month and the partial refund has still not yet been processed. So the last thing I could do is make this review and see if I could actually get a response this time.

Sorry I can't give you a good rating. I have been waiting for the ordered glasses for 38 days, since your confirmation that you received the payment and the order (June 10, 2024). I am very disappointed.

This was my second time I used Principle Optical and was very pleased that they delivered on all counts - reasonably prices, very professional and excellent service. Highly recommended A++

Andrew and Thomas did another awesome job, even when there was an issue with my frames when I go them back, they did all they could to get them back, sort the issue and get them back to me promptly.

After getting an obscenely expensive quote from a high street optician for some new varifocal glasses I did some Googling and found Principal Optical.
I already had some frames I liked so went ahead and ordered Varilux Physio lenses to go in them. Ordering was a simple case of emailing my prescription and a photograph of me wearing the glasses I wanted re-glazed. I posted the frame and a couple of weeks later received them back in perfect condition with the new lenses fitted.
The cost and quality of the lenses was so much cheaper and better than what I'd been quoted at my high street optician. The service and communication was excellent and I'd definitely use Principal Optical again.

Very good communication having sent an email re my potential order I received a phone call and subsequently went ahead to re glaze a pair of Gast Mapi Crystal frames with photo fusion X lenses. Informed that it would be 17 working days and there was Easter to consider.
I actually received my glasses back within 12 days and all I can say is exactly what I wanted at a very good price. Yes I may have saved an odd pound going elsewhere but the service was excellent and well within stated times and still cheaper than some other opticians providing exactly the same goods and service.

I took a risk: this was the first time I have ordered prescription lenses online - it paid off magnificently. I am very grateful, the quality of these lenses is so much higher than my previous high-street-made pair of varifocals - and I am able to see so much better now (at a fantastic price) - thank you!
