Very useful!
But I am french, so it is more difficult for me to use Practice Portuguese. And learning a new language at 72 is not easy.
But I love this anyway!

I'm a new customer and have only been using it for a few weeks. But I can say that there is clearly an incredible amount of effort that has gone into creating the course. I really love how it's not just a simple Duolingo type thing. Lessons include written material with explanations of what's going on. All the added features make everything more fun. I really like the audio exercises. The price is fair too. Getting locals involved in saying all the different words and phrases is a great touch. The emphasis on real and applicable pronunciation and explaining how when locals say certain things, they often swallow entire words and sounds is really important to know so it's not such a shock when deviating from the quizzes. There is a lot more to say. I am loving it for sure! Thank you. I am moving to Portugal in August.

Best course for people who want to learn European Portuguese. This is my second year and I wouldn't go elsewhere.

It’s great fun to learn a language this way. I started 5 months ago and couldn’t speak or understand one word besides “obrigada” or “bom dia”. Now, I almost manage to follow some conversations and I am able to express myself for my daily needs. I am happy when people react muito simpático to my attempts falar português. My favorite European Portuguese app. It really is worth the membership fee.

I have been attempting to learn European Portuguese and tried many different apps and websites, and nothing compares with this one. This website is perfectly made and is an absolute dream for someone trying to learn Portuguese from Portugal! I am so happy to be a member (after following the YouTube page and visiting the website numerous times). I will be recommending this website (and app) to everyone!

It is great, it is much, it is big!

Really useful, fun and in just 2 months I've learnt enough to say a lot of things in a basic way which makes me super motivated to learn more. Better than anything else I've used on the internet.

Where do I even start writing this review? Maybe with a huge thank you! Practice Portuguese gave me so much confidence to be able to speak normal, day-to-day Portuguese while living in Mozambique. No weird nonsense sentences, or overly formal language that no one ever uses. Before starting PP, I had been studying Portuguese by myself for a while, and while my understanding was very decent, I felt like I couldn't hold an actual casual conversation. It's all great to learn how to describe yourself, your house, your hobbies and what not, but lacking more colloquial expressions makes talking to natives very exhausting and demotivating. And that's where Practice Portuguese came in for me: it taught me how to speak the language like a normal person and it really showed! Even my husband - who had been quite critical of other apps and methods I used in the past - told me he saw the biggest improvement after I started PP (in combination with my one hour private lesson a week) AND he was extremely happy with the content while eavesdropping on my learning (e.g. no Brazilian Portuguese anywhere, no language or words that are just never used by an actual Portuguese person).

Now, is it also for you? Well, even for learners who are more advanced (I was already at a A2/B1 level) I think there's a lot to like because of the different take to other language learning tools. If you're a complete beginner, it might be quite challenging at first, but there's plenty of help out there on their active forum. In general, I would personally highly recommend using PP as an ADDITION to more traditional language classes (even if only for an hour or so a week), just to get the most out of it.

More good news for me is the flexibility of the subscription, being able to cancel it any time and re-activate it when you want to learn again. I used it now for 6 months, paused it for now, and will reactive it in preparation of my B2 exam next year.

New content in the form of stories is still being added weekly and their Instagram account has also become more active recently. I would love to see the addition of new units (especially at the B2(+) level), as throughout my 6 months membership no new ones were added, but that would be my only point of improvement :)

Videos of native speakers and lessons based around complete conversations. Great learning tool.

This is definitely the best teaching app for European Portuguese. The web site is easy to navigate around. Lessons are available for absolute beginners to more advanced students and are marked A1,A2, B1,B2,C1. This means you can access the level you are at but also go into more advanced levels if you need to. You need to try this app as there is so much information presented really well.

this is for me the best way to practice what I have learned and to keep up with it. You can pick a subject and practice or you follow the lessons provided by practice Portuguese. You can always return to a subject (very helpful in my case). Like the mix of reading/listening/speaking. I am member now for 2 years and still learning!!

Well designed app easy to use

Practice Portuguese is an incredible resource to help learn European Portuguese. They have very helpful tips and explain everything in an easy way to understand. I cannot begin to express how much it has helped me get a good grip on the language. The app is always being updated with new resources to keep you learning too. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I used PP for a crash refresher course to improve my self taught Portuguese from 40+ years ago. The structure of the course allows you to pick and choose the things where you want to focus - or follow a logical progression if you prefer, mixing different topics so you don’t get bored.

It caters well for a mix of learning styles, using everything from quite theoretical “learning notes, through nicely written “shorty” dialogues, to spoken exercises which check your pronunciation. I work in higher education and I was delighted to be able to practise the spaced repetition techniques that I have used so much in teaching. They really work!

Finally, Rui and Joel are the most engaging presenters. Watching their podcasts you really feel that you are getting to know them.

I’ve learned a huge amount. Job done and I’m signing out for now, but I’ll be back when my Portuguese needs another boost

It's great to have an app for European Portuguese and I love that they use different people in videos pronouncing the words and sentences, not just computer voice. It's a little expensive but hopefully when the creators get things going, it will get a little cheaper.
