So far Powershop have far exceeded…

So far Powershop have far exceeded other supplies (AGL & Origin) in their customer service. After moving from Origin and all their estimated bills Powershop staff have actually done bothered to try and figure out the issue with my meter to see as to why I had so many estimated reads with Origin. I regularly send photos of my meter and the staff there record the reads while they try and figure out the issue. I love being able to buy top up packs so we do not get such a shock when our bill comes. 10/10 so far.

Discount powerpacks stopped without warning

I was a PowerShop customer for two years and really valued the pre‑paid discount Powerpacks as they made a noticeable difference to my monthly bill. However, these were quietly cancelled in December with no notification. Despite contacting PowerShop several times, I still haven’t been given a clear answer on whether the packs will return. I moved to another provider in January and have found it to be cheaper overall.

The lack of communication was disappointing, and retaining website reviews that highlight the discounted packs feels misleading now that they are no longer available

Joining the queue of unhappy PowerShop customers... sigh

hate having to join the queue of negative reviews for a service provider but Powershop seem to be a serial offender. Sold our property, the new buyer transferred our Powershop account to a new provider. Powershop does an "estimate" of the last meter read and subsequently bills us for $1000 for 2 weeks power for a 2 bed apartment! I contact them and they say will check it out but will delay auto payment for 2 weeks (NEVER ever agree to auto payment for a utility provider) while they investigate.

Payment date rolls around, they take the money anyway. I call them and am told that because the buyer incorrectly "transferred" rather than opened a new account (or some other nonsense) they only estimated the usage and charged regardless. Because of that, I would now have to contact the agent and buyer to get them to help…. My problem

I said that I was amazed and appalled that even though we did nothing wrong, they thought it best that I contact the buyer and sort it out while they hold on to our money – asked then to consider the ethics and morality of what they said.

Bottom line, asked for a written response to that affect to consider next action said would have it that business day.

My tips; - Don’t use Powershop as clearly their behaviour when things go wrong is questionable - Check ProductReview before committing to a power company, others seem to have much better ratings - Never agree to automatic debit or payment.

Follow up day after - received a full credit and a virtual apology along with formal account close notice.

Updated 01/26 - for the record, things seemed to have changed from when we joined in 2019 - were wholly acquired by Shell Energy in 2022

Don't choose Powershop

please do yourself a favour and go with any other electricity company, Powershop seems to be more expensive than any other company, ( they're trying to charge me over 2 thousand dollars for 2 months, how can 2 people use over the annual average in 2 months?) this is the scam they try and run. the customer service doesn't investigate, they just agree with the initial decision, I just switched to another company, however it should not have happened in the first place, they are a total scam!!!

DO NO BUSINESS WITH @POWERSHOPAUS

DO NO BUSINESS WITH @POWERSHOPAUS. I've written to EWON, the industry regulator, because it is ripping us off. We have one account for home, one account for office, yet it has invented a third, phantom account to scam us, even writing to us, using it as reference.

They do NOT deserve even a 1 star, this is a SCAM they overcharge you and the excuses are always the same. Terrible company. Every Year i got random bills for 500/700 AUD even when the house was empty for a good part of the billing cycle.

Powershop Bill Shock

Powershop underestimated my usage from April - October of 2024 and then hit me with a massive $922.00 bill shock! They said I didn't send them actual meter readings. Didn't know that was my responsibility as I've never had to do that before. Thought I was paying them to do that. I don't want invoices based on estimates, I want invoices based on actual usage and I don't want to have to do all the work to make that happen.

This practice seems questionable and requires too much attention for busy people. I switched providers because of this.

Good app but price hike insane

They have a great app, gives you great detail and options to keep your bills payed with them.
The price hike by 35% ish to the beginning of the year was insane and electricity (a necessity!) is now the second highest expense per week in my budget.
It went from 22c/kwh to 32c/kwh. I wish my salary would increase like that.

Unbelievable incompetence

Unbelievable incompetence. They couldn’t even get the address for the power meter right and expected me to provide photos etc. when I was nowhere near the premises. After 8 years of dealing with them the early days were good but lately they must be avoided. I couldn’t stand another moment of their total and utter disrespect and dysfunction.

A bunch of crooks!

I changed power retailers so I needed a final bill from Powershop. We usually use 200kw a month, so Powershop estimated our final bill. They decided to add a zero and estimated a 2007kw usage for a month! This equated to a $791 bill. They told me to send photos of the correct meter read and they would change the bill. The next day they decided to renig on this and are saying I have to chase my current retailer for the correct meter read or pay the bill. Stay away from these crooks!!!

Very Expensive...don't use

Was relevantly good but in June they suddenly hiked prices through the roof. Reduced Feed in tariffs, daily supply charge at over a $1.20 and charges at 39c...
A normL home would now be looking at $300 a month, that's crazy. Would find someone else.

Avoid, unethical company

I signed up to powershop solar plan, they state you get 13ckw back.

I was on this plan for almost 1 year and was kicked off, they said I had more then 10kw of solar. I tried to explain that I had 2 x Tesla batteries and our house has been designed to use little power with energy efficient devices.
Our bills over summer got down to about $80 a month, in one month we had a credit of $30, other months we averaged paying around $250. We were still paying about $3'000 a year in bills. They simply said we are producing too much solar, this was due to longer days and the batteries doing their job.

These people also charge you monthly to pick up extra $$$ in all their other hidden fees.

I find companies like this quite disgusting, they go on with their BS about caring for the environment and doing the right thing, but its just a load of BS, the only thing Powershop cares about is their massive profits.

You wont get 13kw feedback or anywhere a near this if your system has batteries or anywhere near 10kw of solar.

Sadly for the consumer we cannot do much about it, these power providers have our politicians in their pockets and EWON is paid by energy providers, fact, things will get worse before it gets better.

There is just no incentive to do the right thing while this is allowed to happen, its just not worth installing solar, we are simply building their grid and they keep all the profits and give nothing back, and if you do produce some back they throw you off, its disgraceful .....

Honestly, don't wast you time with this mob...

Don't use Powershop!

I was with Powershop in Victoria, my first months bill was higher than any others. I didn't think too much of it. Moved to South Australia, got Powershop again and again their first months bill was $200 more than it should have been, complained that their initial meter readings were wrong. They failed to provide any evidence of their meter readings and hit me for a further $100. I now use Alinta Engergy. NEVER EVER use Power Shop.

Reduce your power emissions - and your bills!

Just had an excellent experience transferring to Powershop.
I want to make sure that I'm using the lowest emissions power provider, while being sure I could still afford it, so I had several questions about Powershop's pricing and also how they achieve a carbon neutral offer.
They asked me to email my questions and only a few days later I got a call from their team member, Simon, who thoroughly went through the answers to my questions including telling me how much I would save with Powershop.
This review is NOT paid - I just care about protecting humans and the earth from harmful carbon emissions, and think more people should know that you can cut your emissions without having to pay more.
