Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 410 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers found the website to be a horrible dating site, especially since it changed owners, and felt it was a waste of time and money due to numerous fake profiles and misleading practices. People frequently encountered issues with the subscription model, describing it as having hidden charges and an inability to cancel automatic renewals. The user experience was often criticized for being buggy, with messages disappearing and a general lack of functionality that made connecting with others difficult. Some people were dissatisfied with the social media aspect, noting that many profiles were inactive or filled with generic, unappealing content, and that the platform did not effectively filter out users who were not genuinely interested in connecting. The pricing was also a common point of contention, with many feeling that the costs were excessive for the poor quality of service and that the site used misleading offers.

About Plenty of Fish Dating

Written by the company

Logo

The Plenty of Fish story begins all the way back in the distant year of 2003 when it laid down its roots as the first free online dating site. POF believes that building a community where people feel free to be themselves, helps create the most meaningful connections. Every day, Plenty of Fish helps people find their blanket thief, Ikea sherpa, personal spider hunter…you get the point.

POF has always been true to itself, allowing members to choose their own path to connection on the app and matching members based on the things that ultimately make for real, long-lasting love. That’s why Plenty of Fish was the first dating app to ditch face filters. People can feel free to just be themselves. No pressure, just real connections.

POF dating site. It's the real deal.

Over the past 5 yrs I've went on POF several times. And each time I found someone interesting. Also hooked up with each one and had a great time together and had great sex with each woman. And still interact with them all time to time. Only legit site I've ever found.

If I could rate a zero I would

If I could rate a zero I would. PoF blocked my account said I violated the terms but when I asked what did I do no one can provide me with an answer. I moved from Ontario to Newfoundland then back to Ontario, not sure if this caused the problem. None the less all my responses from them say I violated the terms of use with no explanation.

Don't waste your money

Don't waste your money. If buy the premium plan all it unlocks are pictures of woman who supposedly likes or showed interest in you. But that's it you cant contact any of them or use boost you have to buy additional pkg for each. If you do waste your money buy the top pkg.
The site from a technology stand point is also a mess. Failure load multiple features, cant sign in and more plus a ton of fake profiles many of them created by POF itself to try to hook you into spending more money.

Unresponsive customer service

God forbid something doesn’t work right on the site, because their customer service stinks. After I registered I had trouble one day logging in. I sent CS a detailed description of the problem with screenshots. They sent back pre-written instructions on how to log in that had nothing to do with the problem I was having, and I never heard from them again. They’ve deleted my account.

I don't understand how the people on this site can be so choosy??

Most seemingly have little to offer and seem to revel in being angry and creating drama..
Having a shopping list of must have demands is a bit rich when they have nothing to offer themselves .

Deluded much?

This site USED to be a place where you could meet people and make friends if nothing else.

This site used to be a place where you could meet someone in your area and make friends if nothing else. Now this company has been invaded, just like our countries and the creeps behind the scenes like to target certain profiles for removal without warning or any reason given. You log in and your profile has been removed without warning. Stop letting these invaders get away with this

I am honestly not surprised you got a low rating. The amount of fake profile profiles on there is concerning and that’s why I don’t wanna give you any money to pay for it. I’ve turned them in and you don’t even give me the option to say why I’m turning them in unless it falls under a certain category and there’s many more categories you need to add. It got so bad that even you won’t block someone off that site when they don’t even pass their biometrics to prove who they are.. You should make it a part of signing in every time.. that’s how bad these fake profiles are getting

This is by far the worst of all dating…

This is by far the worst of all dating sites. I spoke to one lady who told me that she is not being charged to send messages, however, they've been charging me from day one. There is no way to contact anyone in customer service because they don't have a customer service department. They expect us to handle every issue on our own by reading about it on a page from their website. But by far, the worst complaint I have about this site is the amount of fake profiles listed from a small town called Aaron Kentucky. Ironically, each profile I try to connect with says "Online months ago" proving that they are indeed fake. POF if you read these, let it be known, I genuinely hate your website!

POF what a waste of time and money

I joined POF yesterday. Got quite a few likes and kept getting messages to upgrade to see who liked me. Unfortunately I fell for it, paid 39.99 but hen I tried to view who liked me, I got a message saying please try a different device. I tried several different devices, same message. POF ask for proof including screenshots which I sent. I also spent hours trying to self verify and everytime it said sucess, a message appeared saying oops, lets try that over, over and over and over. I paid #9.99 but I am no better off than I was with the free account, in fact the free account worked better. Dont wste your time and money. POF is a joke. Support promised to sort out the problems or issue a refund but neither has happened.

I’m an older gentleman looking for a…

I’m an older gentleman looking for a relationship long term. Seems all the women on POF are nasty bitter or stuck on themselves. I’ve actually met with 4 women on the app and 2 seemed promising had fun on meet up but then the had to find some flaw that they couldn’t live with yet they didn’t really offer anything special. Alot of them claim to be financially independent or have these high paying jobs etc but when you meet the are driving a older Kia or Subaru etc yet they tell you the Mercedes is in the shop etc… I have a pick with me and my Corvette which I really do have and the women all talk about road trips that they go on or all the foreign travel that they’re into but can’t even tell you the basics of the country they claim to have gone to. One was telling me about Tibet and it was such bull crap. She commented on my few extra pounds and she didn’t know how it would work for her yet she walked with a limp had a few extra herself and claimed to own a Mercedes. Ya one you could get at auction go under 10k like it was do expensive put she was in an older Subaru lol. I’ve really lived all over the world and have travelled a lot also 25 years military most of it in Asia and Europe yet the dopey women try to act all sophisticated about their world experiences. Mostly Cancun or Mazatlan etc.. oh wow Mexico you such a traveler. Mostly divorced bitter women with nothing to bring to the table and just looking for a free meal date or someone to support them or sorry but real bow wows. I tried it for a 3 month period and will not continue after that time is up.

Plenty of fish Australia

Plenty of fish Australia. I found was unethical, dishonest, underhanded and fraudulent to their own terms and agreement.

The initial cost is high, though when you renew, the services provided are less than that previously provided, they hook you in. The site is often down, that’s right simply not working, for days at a time. If you ask for your agreement to be extended or refunded, they send you a standard response, that is dishonest and in short, they don’t do anything. Do not use plenty of fish.

Full of scammers

There are so many scammers on this site that it’s hard to meet anyone real. Plenty of fish allows the user to enter where they live so they basically can say anywhere. If you use it be very careful with your information. If the person pushes you to use alternative ways to contact, is vague about where they live, has unusual amount of tragedy in their life, they are very likely scammers! Pof needs to verify their users better!

I have reported so many fake profiles…

I have reported so many fake profiles on here, and I'll get a message from pof saying "We've actioned your report". Saying they have deleted the profile. I have said numerous times, all you need to do is make people verify their profile pics. They just won't do it. So, I think they not only allow the scam profiles, but probably are in cahoots with them. Allowing them and getting a kickback on any successful scams. Because, why not just make people verify their profile pic? If you're legitimately on there, you wouldn't have a problem with it, its not like its difficult, you just use your camera to show its actually you in the profile. Its already a feature in the app, all they gotta do is implement it being mandatory to have a profile

Too many angry weirdos

I've never seen a site with so many messed up members of the opposite sex on.

It's full of single mums, females who are out of shape and those with the social skills of an amoeba. It's utterly horrendous - full of undateables

If that's not bad enough they all want a man who is stunningly good looking and won't settle. Hahahaha
