If you have over 8 clients watch the fees skyrocket.

I am a self employed carer with about 20 clients/service users. I wanted an app i could keep records of my visits, store care plans etc so this seemed good. However , if you have 8 or more clients you have to pay an additional fee to the monthly fee for each client which made mine around £60 per month roughly which is definately out of my budget. I wish this was advertised prior to purchase.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and for trying the app.

Our standard subscription includes up to 8 service users. For carers supporting more than 8 clients, additional service users can be added for a small extra monthly cost. This is outlined on the pricing page, including in the comparison table that explains what is included with each package.

The system is designed this way because most self-employed carers we speak to typically manage between 5 and 7 clients, so the standard plan covers the majority of users, while still allowing flexibility for those who need to support a larger number of service users.

If you would like to discuss your setup further, please feel free to contact our support team and we’ll be happy to help.

Thanks for your review. PocketCarer was created to make record keeping simple and secure, with everything in one place that can be updated anywhere. It’s an easier way to keep records organised and share updates, with both carers and clients or families able to keep copies through the carer and relatives apps.

If you’d like to share any ideas or feedback, we’d love to hear from you at support@pocketcarer.com.

The perfect app.

This is an absolutely excellent app. I have to remotely manage a care team and I simply couldn't do it without this. It has all the features required to make this situation possible. It's intuitive, simple and thorough. The developers are unbelievably responsive – I submitted a query early on a Sunday morning and 10 minutes later, I had a phone call with them to discuss the issue. Later, I put in another query, asking how to adapt/use what was already there for another purpose. Again, I had a video call with them, explained what I needed and why, and lo and behold: they've only gone and made the changes permanently so I don't have to adapt to what's there, it's exactly what we need! Utterly brilliant service. It's so good, our local authority rep has taken it to their wider team and are starting (so they tell me) to recommend it to others. If you are either a carer, or managing a care team, this app is priceless.

The Rota App Is a Time and Money Sink

Rota is an incredibly frustrating and inefficient tool for creating and managing schedules. The system is flawed and has several key issues:
Creating shifts for 24-hour care is overly complex. Instead of a single, simple entry, I have to manually create three separate shifts (7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., and 12 a.m. to 7 a.m.). This process is a significant time sink.
The system repeatedly fails when adding shifts. Even after this tedious process, I encounter a "time collapse" error when trying to add a day shift, making the feature unusable.
There is no option for recurring shifts. Each week, I have to manually clone the previous week's schedule, which is a major waste of time for a routine task.
The system lacks a critical feature for allocating shifts. I cannot create "time-locked" shifts and assign them to specific team members, which is a core function for a scheduling app.
The subscription model is equally problematic. We initially paid £200 for a yearly subscription. When we attempted to upgrade, we were not charged the £100 difference, but instead were billed an additional £500. Support was unhelpful, stating that we had chosen two plans and were locked into the new, higher cost for the year.
While the client profile feature is user-friendly, the severe limitations and bugs with the core rota functionality make this app completely unsuitable for our needs. I would not recommend it to any manager looking for an effective scheduling and reporting tool.

We’re really sorry to hear about your experience with PocketCarer and the rota. Our software was created first and foremost for self-employed carers and individual employers, which means it doesn’t always have the advanced scheduling features that larger providers might expect. That’s also why we offer a demo and a free trial period, so people can explore the system and decide if it’s the right fit before committing.

In terms of your subscription, you moved from our entry plan to the Pro plan on the same day. This was applied correctly, and no duplicate payment was taken. If you’d like us to go through your billing in more detail, our support team will be happy to help at support@pocketcarer.co.uk.

We do appreciate you giving PocketCarer a try, even though it hasn’t been the right match for your needs, and we’re grateful for your feedback.

Emma at Pocketcarer was extremely helpful :-)

Emma at Pocketcarer helped to sort out a problem for me that had occurred in setting up my account and she was extremely helpful and ensured that I knew what steps to take to get up and running with the correct app. I was very grateful of her help and was pleased to be up and running as this was our first week of care for my father in law and so an important week for us and so thanks again Emma!

5 ***** Excellent product and service

I have been using PocketCarer for all my record keeping for a couple of years now and I have seen it grow and expand offering a great and full range of records that need completing on a daily basis to ensure both client and carer are kept safe and records are kept efficiently. With very few issues in that time Pocket Carer customer service and problem solving is first class. This app saves me not only time as I can record my records as I go and on the go but it has saved me loads of money on no longer having to buy files, paper or printer ink and families can observe all information being recorded and communicate via the Family App. Totally recommend to anyone starting or already working as a self employed carer.

First it is time consuming.

First it is time consuming.
Then, to me it seems that there might be a problem with data protection.
Finally, our daily notes have several purposes:
1. recording what we do
2. inform other health and social care professionals of what has been done as well as other useful information

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that setting up clients can take some time initially, but once everything is in place, PocketCarer is designed to make daily record-keeping much quicker and more efficient.

Data Protection – Keeping your information safe is extremely important to us. All data is securely stored and encrypted, ensuring only you and those you choose to share it with have access.

Daily Notes & Professional Communication – We know that daily notes are essential for both record-keeping and sharing key updates with health and social care professionals. To support this, encrypted emails can be sent directly from the app, making it easy to securely share information when needed.

Thank you for your review. As stated on our website, all new accounts receive a 14-day free trial of the PocketCarer app. This allows you to explore and use all features during the trial period.

At the end of the 14 days, your account automatically reverts to the free version of PocketCarer. If you’d like to continue using any of the additional features from the trial, you have the option to subscribe to a plan that suits your needs. However, there is no obligation to upgrade, and we do not require any card details for either the trial or the free version.

It is a good recorder of information and track of income/outcome.

It helps a lot to have all my invoices, expenses, clients information, notes, medications, etc all in one place.... The only negative is that the mile track is not as good as most other apps so I gave up using, what is a shame. I was wasting too much time with that!
Ps.: it might have improved but I have not tried recently!
I also find amusing when trying to log food left for a later meal that it is impossible to choose nill eaten... I have to put 25% eaten then write down that it is a later meal. When I don't even know if the Client has/will eat any thing at all! 🤔🤔🤔

We appreciate your feedback on the mileage tracker—we’re always looking for ways to improve, so we’ll take this on board for future updates.

Regarding food logging, we completely understand your frustration! We’re happy to let you know that we’ve updated the food logs to allow a ‘none eaten’ option, which will be live next week. Hopefully, this makes things much easier for you!
