Appalling! No easy way to contact an actual person! There literally must be one person there answering calls and they get a long lie in everyday and finish at 4pm! No matter what time i call i am told there is no room in the queue! A queue can be infinate! They are joke! Basically they dont want to offer any level of customer service what so ever!

I was given a section 21 from my landlord, I rang the council for help as I'm disabled and scared I would end up on the street, the lady on the phone told me not to leave when the section 21 had passed and to wait for the bailiffs to come and remove me, if I move before this I would not get any help because I had made myself homeless. How pathetic?

I also applied for a DHP as luckily I was accepted for a house and they have said they will help with the rent in advance but they are taking the absolute mick sending it to the agency, which means I'm now living in the house still that i got the section 21 and can't do anything until the payment has been sent over. My section 21 ran out on the 21st of April, and the council just don't seem to care. They are getting annoyed at me when I'm chasing it up... Safe to say. Don't go to PCC for help, they are useless and just make stressful situations feel 10x worse 😔 I am 8 weeks pregnant and don't need this stress right now. The council need to step up their game and support more people, have better attitudes and actually give a crap about the public.

I am writing this to warn others and highlight a severe issue with Plymouth City Council's parking enforcement. I am currently in discussions with legal representatives regarding the Council's adherence to the Equality Act 2010.

I was recently issued a £35 fine (PCN: PL15026657) for not displaying a ticket, despite parking for only two hours in a car park that explicitly allows three hours of free parking.

As someone with Asperger's, I rely on precise, literal instructions. The disabled parking section of the signage at this location is highly ambiguous. It simply states: "A vehicle also displaying a valid blue badge can park for an extra hour on top of their 3 hours." The disabled section itself doesn't explicitly state that a valid ticket must be acquired and displayed alongside the badge to utilise this free period. Simply adding "with a valid ticket" to the end of the disabled section would have been all that was required. Given that my stay was well within the allotted free time, there was clearly no intent to bypass any parking regulations.

When I appealed the fine, the individual handling my case displayed a completely shortsighted and discriminatory mentality. It was glaringly obvious that they couldn't be bothered to actually read the detailed information and context I had provided.

I have now paid this fine simply because leaving it open was causing me extreme duress and anxiety. However, being forced to pay under these circumstances has left me feeling violated, deeply angry, and I'll likely lose sleep over the sheer injustice of the situation.

I strongly urge Plymouth City Council to clarify their disabled parking signage to prevent them from continuing to disproportionately penalise neurodivergent individuals who rely on clear communication.

The refuse collection team where I live is the laziest team going. They empty partially filled bins into others which is ok, but invariably they lose some contents on the footpath and are too lazy to pick it up. If we put any side rubbish out alongside the bins you are quick enough to issue fines for fly tipping. Talk about double standards. Like a lot of things in Plymouth it’s disgusting and you have the gall to raise our council tax by the maximum in April. You’re a joke😡

I have been visiting Plymouth over the last few years as my son is at Plymouth University. I have seen many improvements in particular to the town centre which makes it more appealing and welcoming. There is good landscaping, wide pedestrian areas and general improvements and cleanliness. It was good and reassuring to see the Police patrolling the town centre during my visit in December 2025. Keep up the good work Plymouth!

Awful company to work for abuse there staff especially them with additional needs

Not only did PCC Try to hold fraudulent charge against me but they ALSO sold the alleged Debt to a DEBT COLLECTOR breaching the GDPR Rules. For which I hold them totally responsible.

I’m appalled that Plymouth City Council immediately imposed a 100% council tax charge on second homes without hesitation. This was a discretionary tax, yet they went straight for the maximum rate, prioritizing revenue over fairness. Second homes contribute significantly to the local economy and do not use local services to the same extent as permanent residents, so they should qualify for a reduction. At the very least, there should be an appeal process to ensure fair treatment rather than a blanket charge.

This review is directed at the PCN BUS LANE CAMERA CREW. I recently received a PCN. For being in a bus lane on Exeter Street near the retail park 20-30 mts from the end of the bus lane where you would move over to the left to turn onto the retail park itself. Unbelievable that they charged me £35 for 20mts in a bus lane on a Sunday with no buses in sight. Admittedly I did go into the lane only to join queuing traffic at the lights to turn left into the park itself. I didn’t contest it as I didn’t want to give them the satisfaction of refusal. Very poor decision made here but I guess they need to get their funds from somewhere. Next time I’ll go to Exeter to do my shopping so they won’t get anymore of my cash and neither will the shops so it’ll cost them in the long run.

Should be an option to leave a negative star experience. PCC employ a horrific company to collect debts - Equita - please see the review I left them below. WHEN I GOT IN TOUCH WITH PLYMOUTH CITY COUNCIL TO HELP THEY REFUSED ... TERRIBLE.
Awful company - rude, unprofessional, aggressive, and borderline unethical treatment from Equita. Tried to call the help line but they immediately transferred me back to Mr Mascot - who proceeded to shout at me.... This company should not be allowed to operate and shame on Plymouth City Council for employing them. Terrified - hope they don't turn up tomorrow - have instructed poorly daughter to ring the police if he turns up...

Not fit for purpose. I tried filling out an enquiry form and there wasn't even a button to send the message.

They support foreigners over the families that have struggled and paid tax for generations. Time for a total overhaul of how local and national authorities work. Take back the power somehow!

Absolute shitehole council need to get off their there asses and sort it out if I could I would pressure wash the hole thing I would rather visit the inside of my ass

Recent press reports on the handling of vulnerable disabled service users at Douglass House have exposed the shocking inadequate protection and care that Plymouth City Council and their partners in health and social care have been providing.

Children Social Services in Plymouth are completely useless. Their reports are not correct and when they get things wrong, they cover up for each other. The complaint process is completely corrupt and not fit for purpose.

The Ombudsman who oversee Plymouth City Council complaints is also not fit for purpose. They will not investigate if the courts are involved. This is a complaint service which needs a massive overhaul and gets a totally independent body to oversee it.

Mark my word if Plymouth City Council, Children Social Services does not change, then there will be serious harm coming to children if it is not already happening.

If I had plenty of money, I would have them in court by now for their wrong doings.

The reply I received from my complaint today is a total cover up.

It is of great concern how council contracts are awarded to failing care companies throughout Plymouth, and for Fiona Gordon the commissioner for adult social care, she has a lot to answer for!

Absolutely disgusted with the state of our roads. The repair opposite the railway station is an absolute disgrace. I live on Lowerside and all we had for the last 20 years is patches, which have to be redone every year as new potholes open up beside them. The whole street is in a terrible state at the moment, but nobody cares. We pay enough in road tax. Plymouth has become pothole city. I'm really angry at the money that is wasted on shoddy repairs.

I need to use the libraries a lot these days for various reasons. I now try to avoid using any PCC libraries and take a walk over to saltash and use the Cornwall council library instead, which is ok. PCC libraries are full of horrible and unprofessional staff, and are just basically rubbish. In Plymouth, public toilets and public transport (buses) are rubbish too. I have been put in the regrettable position of making a few complaints - the relevant services did respond promptly, but judging from what they advised me in their email back to me they are clearly not bothered about it, it just doesn't matter to them at all.
