Dodgy and dishonest practices

Avoid this dishonest company.

On their website they advertise “no hidden costs”, “all inclusive prices” and “fully comprehensive insurance”- all misleading advertising, in reality they look for any excuse to charge you afterwards.

They sell you a “fully protected” service, then they will twist the situation, blaming the customer…the oldest trick in the book of rental car companies…
Today 21/01/2026 they attempted to take 873 GBP from my credit card WITHOUT my authorisation or approval…my bank immediately blocked the transaction as suspected fraud. This should tell you everything about their business practices.

Either they are very incompetent, or they think customers are stupid.
In any case, this is dodgy behavior. Do not trust them.

I advise against

I advise against, matchstick, they took a deposit from the credit card 300 Euro and after passing the car they said that everything is OK, they returned only 20 Euro. They took 280 Euro for damage to the car that was already when we received them from them. After my emails asking for a refund and sending our photos with damages that were already when receiving the car stopped answering my emails. 280 euros are gone. I intend to take legal action.

Best Car Hire Company in The Canaries

I have used Pluscar on several occasions when hiring a car and I have to say out of all the available operators on La Gomera they are without doubt the best. The online booking process could not be easier, no payment is taken until arrival and there are no hidden extras. The price quoted is what you pay with no pressure to take the hidden extras. I have just booked a car with Pluscar for 10 days in January and as usual the price was very competitive and the process was easy. When hiring anywhere in The Canaries I have no hesitation in recommending Pluscar.
