Witchcraft! How did I get smoke flavor in chicken and a smoke ring on ribs with no wood? I just got mine and, from a friend who owns one's advice, I started with half chickens. My wife took a bite and... See more

Pit Barrel

This is so easy to use and gives me that little bit of extra smoke my electric couldn't do. Family and friends loved the flavor and juiciness from the ribs (first night I had) to the prime rib (second night) I made. I would recommend this to everyone.

Wouldn't BBQ any other way!

The PBC is easy to use and virtually fool proof. Accompanied with my wireless thermometer, i haven't ever tasted meat this good before. I love it and recommend it to all my friends.

Swing Grate

This grate is just the ticket for Ribs and Beans, or pork shoulder and beans, or any kid of fish and meat.

I can't believe how easy the Pit Barrel Cooker is to use!

I have been watching videos on the Pit Barrel Cooker on YouTube for a while now and I've been going round and round with my wife on getting a smoker. The problem is, I have a limited amount of space on my deck for equipment and I just replaced my older Regal Broil King with a new Weber Genesis II LX S-640. The Weber takes up enough space in the place that I have it and I have only enough room for something much more limited in size than a full size wood smoker.

After reading and watching all the reviews on YouTube and seeing that the PBC is nice and compact, I decided to pull the trigger and get me one. I ordered a few accessories with it and got it in pretty quick. I unpacked it and set it up in the corner of the deck next to my Weber. Both products fit perfectly in my set-up, the wife was happy and life was good. Then, I smoked my first rack of St. Louis Ribs. Now, keep in mind, this was the first time I've ever attempted to do anything like this. I followed many YouTuber's instructions on timing and used the Beef & Game Rub. I set my vent for 849ish ft.sea level altitude (1/4) and started my fire according to specifications.

I hung the ribs and walked away for three hours. I came back and pulled the ribs and foiled them with a mix of brown sugar, butter and apple juice. I placed them back on the grill in the PBC and let them go another 45 minutes. I used pecan and apple wood to smoke. After the last 45 minutes, I brought the ribs inside and let them rest in the foil for around 15 minutes. What happened next was something I can only describe as heavenly.

I cannot believe how tender these ribs were and how delicious they tasted. I am so impressed, first with me actually having such a great result the first time, but also with how easy this PBC was to use. I will be smoking another rack of St. Louis Ribs this weekend and including a full garlic sausage to the cook. I have already sent pictures to family and started the invites to get them over for a BBQ. I stand on the patio now and look at my new Weber sitting next to my PBC in all its glory and wonder, do I really need it... LOL! Well, being honest with you, I have used the Weber already and it's a great grill. However, All, and mean ALL, my smoking will be done on the PBC.

The two things I accomplished with this PBC were, one, I was able to solve my space problem on my deck. Two, I purchased a wonderful product at a fantastic price point and now can produce a phenomenal result with such a deceptive little cooker. I know there are fantastic smokers out there beyond the PBC, but Noah has engineered a wonderful product that solves some problems like I had at such a reasonable price. I pulled the trigger on this never having smoked anything and just taking a blind chance that I could pull off results that had price to value.

I purchased the ash pan and the split grate with my initial order of the PBC. I've already placed a second order for the gloves, 2.5 pound bags of both rubs and a freaking coffee cup. I've never been brand loyal to anything in my life (I'm 53), but I can tell you, I believe I'm a fanboy of the PBC and Noah. All I want to do now is cook on that dang thing. I live in South Texas and love our BBQ down here, but now I will most likely stop frequenting the local joints, and we have some very good ones, and just do this myself on the deck. I would recommend this to anyone that has space issues and is intimidated by full size pits. Trust me, grab one of these and just follow the instructions. After a couple of rounds with this, you will want to cook everything on the PBC.

Simplicity Even for Ameteurs

Everything you could read about the Pit Barrel is true. My only frustration is...I haven't seen it advertised earlier than I did!
All jokes aside, I ordered the Pit Barrel on a Tuesday and the well packaged delivery was waiting for me on Friday after work. 3 racks of ribs came out on Saturday in 3 1/2 hours perfect on a Pennsylvania 45 degree day.
I ordered the ash pan to make clean up a whopping 10 seconds. The hinged grill grate is great. The seasonings are fantastic.
I can't wait to slip the Pit Barrel back in the sturdy packagin it came in in order to take it on the road. I'm a huge fan and now that my thermometers have arrived, I'll be smoking everything.
Great job Pit Barrel team. I've already gotten everyone's interest in the area peaked.
Thanks!
Ed

Worth every penny

The ash holder attachment addresses the one shortcoming if the PBC by having to carry the entire cooker to dump the ashes. I tend to agree with some other reviews that say this piece of hardware should be standard equipment but then the magic $300 threshold would be broken. The all purpose seasoning also comes in a much more practical 2.5# size which will last most of a year for me. By both without reservation.

Best smoker/grill!

This is the best grill/smoker I own! I have never had a bad cook on it. The only thing negative I can say is that I waited to long to buy one!

Believe the Hype

Everything you've heard about the Pit Barrel Cooker is true. It is a fantastic piece of equipment. I received my unit in less than one week and I don't even live in the USA. The shipment arrived in perfect condition, containing everything it was supposed to.

First cook was St. Louis style ribs and even though I managed to only light one side of the coals, resulting in a slow and uneven burn, the ribs were still the best we've ever had. Since then, the weather has gotten very cold with tons of snow, so we are waiting impatiently for the next cook. I'm going to be a rockstar in my neighborhood come spring, mark my words.

Listen, if a Canadian boy like me, who's never been within a country mile of a legit BBQ pit in his life, can make ribs this good, you know these guys are on to something.

Great products and excellent customer service

I've had my Pit Barrell Cooker for almost 2 years now. I've bought some accessories since then as well. I've had two minor issues pop up (lost order and question on charcoal basket) and both were addressed promptly and professionally. Their product is outstanding as well!

Pit Barrel excellence

This was my 2nd Pit Barrel Cooker. I still have the first one I bought when they were first being sold. These are bar none the best cooker/smokers I have owned. I sold a Kamado Joe to make room for the 2nd one. Noah offers a great product and the best customer service ever. I highly recommend this product.

Just As Advertised

I could not be happier with this purchase. I have a owned & loved a WSM for the last 10 years or so but this new smoker takes easy to a whole new level! If you will just follow instructions, you can't go wrong. I have only done ribs so for but they were the best I've ever done. Today will be chicken and I am expecting great results! This is too much fun, and guaranteed to make you the best cook in your neighborhood!
