Best course I've tried

I have tried quite a few approaches to piano and while I already had a fairly strong musical foundation, I didn't have the freedom in improv and playing by ear that I wished I had. I purchased the Ultimate course and have experienced breakthrough in my playing. The teacher led approach helps me know exactly what skill to practice next without having to jump around and figure things out on my own (like so many other courses that feel more like library of self learning videos instead of a course with a very specific start and finish planned out. Jacques is a great teacher and makes complicated things seem simple. I am so thankful for this course and I would highly recommend the ultimate package including the additional courses on how to play jazz etc. If piano felt impossible or clunky to you in the past, I would give Jacques course a try...

Thank you, Jacqueline! I'm so glad Ultimate helped you get the freedom you were looking for at the piano. Knowing what to practice next makes such a difference, especially when you've already tried a bunch of other approaches. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and recommending the course!

My review thus far.

Whilst I haven't finished yet (day15) the structurer and the exercises with backing tracks are great for me. I found the explanations and detail easy to follow. I need to be more disciplined with practice though as life got in my way but the structure is easy to go back to earlier lessons to get back.

Thanks, Mike! Great to hear you're on day 15 and enjoying the backing tracks. Don't beat yourself up about the interruptions. Going back to an earlier lesson is a good way to get moving again. Keep working at your own pace, and thanks for sharing how it's going so far!

Jacques' fun and easy way to learn the piano

Jacques has a very unique way of teaching piano. He makes it very easy, fun and exciting all at the same time. He goes over each lesson very clearly and explains very well what he expects you should be able to do. There are timess when he will tell you that a particular lesson is going to be somewhat difficult and hard to learn. But it's just a matter of each individual ability to make his/her fingers do what they need to do. I really enjoyed it and was into it every day for many hours. But then as it would be, things happen in life that interupts your schedule. I've yet to get back but when I do start up again, I plan on starting from the beginning again. It was fast and simple so it won't take me that long to get back to where I left off. Another good thing with Jacques is that you can send him a video of your progress and he can let you know how you ar doing. I think he has developed a really neat method of learning the piano when compared to normal piano lessons. He even talks about that as well. You won't be sorry if you decide to sign up for his classes. I sincerely believe that you will have the best time of your life while learning how to play the piano. I can't wait till the day that I will finally be able to play the keyboard at my church. I know with Jacques help and my determination it will happen. So what are you waiting for, go sign up and start playing the piano in 21 days!

Allen, thank you for such a thoughtful review! I'm glad you've had so much fun with the lessons. When you get back to the keyboard, take the refresher lessons at whatever pace feels right. Playing at your church is a great goal to work toward, and I'm cheering you on!

I thoroughly enjoyed Jacques Piano in…

I thoroughly enjoyed Jacques Piano in 21 Days course. I went from not knowing where to find the notes on a keyboard to being able to play songs. I’ve always wanted to try to learn the piano but I could never wrap my head around how to do it. My wife even got me a keyboard for our 10th anniversary. It sat dormant for 20 years until she offered to buy me lessons. I did some research and stumbled across PI21 days. I took a chance and signed up for his course.
I was surprised how well I was able to pick up the material and make progress. Each day is specific to a certain lesson and includes exercises at the end to practice with.
Now it took me around a year to complete the course. But that was based on my particular schedule and pace. I did have some downtime as I was frustrated with one day in the course, which by the way Jacques says might happen as you hit a plateau and get stumped, but after some time off I got back at it and finished. Some folks have actually completed it in less than 21 days.
I am not interested in reading music or heavy music theory right now, maybe down the road and if that’s your thing then this course is probably not for you. But if you’re just looking to learn how to play popular songs with chords then I would highly recommend this course. I am proud of what I have learned since I started this journey and look forward to becoming a more complete player in the future.

I love that the keyboard your wife gave you finally got its turn! Congratulations on finishing the course and getting past that frustrating lesson. Taking a year doesn't take anything away from what you've learned. You went from not knowing the notes to playing songs, and that's something to be proud of. Thanks for sharing your story!

You can learn that on YouTube in about 3 hours.
Totally overpriced. This should be maybe $20-30.

Hi Steve,

I take criticism and student feedback seriously, and I'd like to look into your experience further. However, I haven't been able to find an enrollment under your name.

In reviewing your public profile, I also noticed that you posted negative reviews of several other piano-learning services on the same day. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but combined with being unable to locate your enrollment, this raises questions that I'll also bring to Trustpilot.

Please email me directly at jacques@pianoin21days.com with the email address you used to purchase or your order number. Please don't post those details publicly.

I would genuinely like to establish what happened and address your concerns.

Not the Songs You Want to Play

After retiring last year, I finally pursued my longtime dream of learning piano and chose Piano In 21 Days because it promised a modern, no-fluff approach — and I hoped it would help me play the songs I loved in a way that sounded musical and true to the original. I spent about 2 hours a day, six days a week, working through the full course over four months — except for a couple of weeks I missed due to illness and a family emergency.

Jacques does a good job teaching chords, progressions, inversions, and the basics of music theory. I now understand how to build and move between chords, which is valuable. But the course falls short on one major promise: learning to improvise songs so they sound musical and recognizable.

By Day 17, I realized that real improvisation — creating a melody that fits a chord progression, has rhythm, and sounds like a song — is far more complex than the course prepares you for. It felt like being handed a few ingredients and told to cook a gourmet meal with no recipe. I learned improvisation techniques, but they are not enough to help me play the songs I want to play. And that’s a big letdown.

Also worth noting: Many of the 5-star reviews online are from people who never finished the course, and most of the YouTube testimonials are several years old.

The course gives you a decent foundation in chords, but if your goal is to actually sound like you're playing songs, you will end up disappointed. I came away with useful skills — but not the musical result I was truly aiming for.

Reply from Piano In 21 Days

Hi John,

Thank you for such a thoughtful and honest review. First off, I really admire the dedication you put into the course — two hours a day, six days a week is no small commitment, and I appreciate you giving it your full effort.

I’m glad you found value in the foundational skills like chords, progressions, and music theory. That’s exactly what Piano In 21 Days is designed to deliver — a fast, practical path into playing real music without years of traditional lessons.

That said, I completely understand your frustration around improvisation and making your playing sound more like actual songs. For many students, the main course is enough to feel confident and musical at the piano. But for those who want to take it further — especially into melody, improvisation, and more expressive playing — that’s where the Melody & Ear Training In 21 Days course comes in. It’s designed to build on the core program and help with exactly the kind of playing you’re after.

I genuinely appreciate your feedback. While the main course gives you the tools, I agree that learning to “cook the gourmet meal,” as you put it, sometimes takes more guidance — and that’s what the next step is there for.

Thanks again, and I wish you the best on your continued piano journey.

Easy and Fun Piano Lessons

Easy and Fun Piano Lessons
After much contemplation, I enrolled in Jacques Hopkins' "Piano in 21 Days". I am so happy that I made that decision! I am thoroughly enjoying the lessons at my own pace and have already seen a big difference in my learning and understanding of the piano. I took conventional lessons in 3rd grade (70 years old now) and this is so much better! I am excited for my lessons and look forward to getting at my piano! Jacques is a patient, thorough teacher. Thanks to Jacques, my Mama's piano will "sing" again!

I have never played a musical…

I have never played a musical instrument in my life but as I've gotten older I've decided I wanted to try. I got a keyboard for my 60th birthday and quickly realized I had no idea what to do next. I found Piano in 21 Days on line and thought I would give it a shot. I have loved every minute of it so far and am happy to say I am advancing at my own pace and am learning something new every day. I love the fact that you can go at your own pace and Jacques provides lots of resources to help you along the way. As I stated earlier, I'm advancing slowly but am looking forward to playing a full song in the near future!!

The Pianoin21days is very thoroughly…

The Pianoin21days is very thoroughly and well laid out. It capitalizes on latest video overlaying technology to teach numerous concepts and facilitate the learning experience making tedious, boring and redundant piano practices more fun, informational and approachable. We don’t feel overwhelmed since the practice lessons focus more on practical concepts rather than excessive music theories and we could also commit the training lessons at our on practical pace. We feel that it is a great value since it comes comprehensively bundled with the essentials ‘playing by ears’, ‘finger yoga exercises’ and of course the extra lessons on classical and jazz lessons for continued future advanced learning. We highly recommend the program since it comes included with a 30 days risk free trial of full refund.

A fantastically helpful course

I highly recommend this course. Material was easy to follow and simplified for a new starter to understand. You obviously still need to practice. Being able to play tunes with backing tracks so early on in the course is motivating. I really enjoyed my time on this course and am glad I can revisit exercises. I gave myself 6m to go through the 21days with daily half hour practices and a new Day once a week due to time constraints, but it could definitely be completed sooner. Thanks Jacques.

Very Effective Course

This course is very effective in getting me to the stage where I now have the tools necessary to play my favorite songs without spending weeks and months on site reading from sheet music. I can also now sit at the piano and be creative with chord progressions and improv techniques that, previously looked unattainable to me.

I struggle for personal time

I struggle for personal time. I am Ms Georgia Senior America 2023 and a professional vocal entertainer. I’ve taken piano lessons for years and have never achieved the level and fun I have had in less than 3 weeks. Sheet music frustrates me!!! This class is well written, logical and entertaining. I so look forward to it and I can see myself going over the class several more times just for fun. Super…super…super!!!!

The ease and ability to go back to previous lessons that I thought I had mastered I then recognized that I need more practice

I also think that the name “Piano in 21 days is somewhat misleading. It appears to send the message that playing the piano proficiently can be accomplished in 21days

This kind of online course ideally is for hobby ONLY.  It is NOT for preparing piano exams or careers!!!  If you are thinking about exams or careers as your goals, you MUST look for a piano instructor.

Piano in 21 Days (1st course) taught about playing chords a lot. If you don't mind playing piano and singing at the same time and thinking that you are a very creative piano player,  then this course teaches you a good method.

If you want to play a song exactly look the "same" as that singer's song, you need sheet music knowledge. Take Classical & Sheet Music in 21 Days (2nd course).  Make sure you have to pay in full in order to choose this 2nd course. Using sheet music to play a song might need to take a long time to practice that song and might make you do more work for preparing the practice.  So make sure you choose a song & the sheet music which are suitable for you to play.

Both methods have it own good & bad things.

Is it worth to pay in full to buy Jacques's course?  To be honest, it is hard to say this course is good or bad. I took traditional piano lessons since I was a child. I like to play popular songs exactly the "same", so I have to use sheet music and l cannot sing.

Is Piano in 21 Days course a difficult course?  Is it hard to learn piano in 21 Days?
In my opinion, yes, that will be a little bit difficult for people who have no knowledge and experience when they are taking this course.  You might need more than 21 days to learn the stuff.  You might need to repeat the course.  Even I don't 100% fully master Jacques's stuff and I am not really a creative piano player, that's why I need sheet music to play.

No advice or suggestions for getting a piano or keyboard.  Please look it up yourself.  Don't forget a piano or keyboard also a part of your investment if you don't have one.

I just want to help people to make a better decision before they buy this kind of online course.  If I can see someone who writes a review like this one before I buy Jacques's course, I would like to think about his course again whether I want to buy it or not.

Finally, my final advices are, whether you learn or never learn piano before, just buy Jacques's course or other instructor's piano online course base on your feelings.  And try not to wait until you are retired or too old to learn piano.  That's why 3 to 3.5 stars of 5 stars will be good enough.  Results may vary for everyone. Whether you believe my review or not is up to you, if you don't like my review, you don't have to follow these stuffs.  These are just my suggestions.

Thank you for reading this review and hope this review helps you at least a little bit and save some of your thinking time.  This review supposed to be a 12 pages review but TrustPilot won't let me say so many things, so I have to skip so many details.
