Forced to use this by my apartment and provide personal information which they sell despite not having a pet.

I don’t really understand what problem this company tries to solve. I was forced by my landlord to use PetScreening before moving in. But honestly, there is really no value added.

Responses were within 24 hours and the problem was immediately solved!

When I registered my new pet on PetScreening, I saw my rental company's logo on the page. I paid $30 for the registration. Later, I found out our rental company no longer uses the PetScreening service. When I contacted PetScreening's customer service, I received multiple replies indicating a misunderstanding of the situation. The last one refused to give me a refund. I feel scammed. PetScreening should remove inactive corporate accounts from potential public use.
10/31/2025 ETA: Yes I did receive a reply and refund, but it was only after using the main webpage's email link to Marketing, when I shared the above review with them. SEVERAL previous emails to their Customer Service staff did NOT work.

Although there is a bit of a wait time, they were so nice and informative. Waiting on my review to be completed for my two emotional support animals. My girls help me with my mental disability to where when I want to give up they keep me going, they don’t allow me to wither away. I hope and pray I don’t have to lose them.
Update: Thanks to Ashely for all of the information and support throughout this process. Everything was finally verified and approved for my ESAs and I won’t have to lose them, thankfully because that would cause great damage to me. If you go through this process make sure you have everything together as the process can take 2-5 business days or more.

I have been required to use PetScreening for different apartments. I signed a lease and found that my account was deactivated. I needed the screening done quickly. I contacted support to reactivate my account and Paola from customer service responded in less than 30 mins. Additionally, she provided details (with pictures) on what to do to transition my account to the new complex. Thanks again Paola!

Questionable practices:
1. When you pay you HAVE to agree to auto-renew to complete payment.
2. You also HAVE to save your credit card details to your account to complete payment. Neither of which are standard practice or ok in my review.
(You can remove both from your profile afterwards completing payment).
3. Within hours of signing up for the service (required by my apartment complex) I started getting spam email that I couldn't opt out of in advance. I wrote and complained and they replied saying " Users provide information directly to PetScreening according to our terms of service and privacy policy. This consent allows PetScreening to offer valuable promotions, such as discounts on pet food, supplies, and pet health insurance. " it went on...."...If you would like to opt out of any promotional emails, the easiest and fastest way is to unsubscribe directly from the promotional email which will remove you from that company's mailing list. "
(All a bit late as my data has already been sold and passed on by that point hasn't it?)

PetScreening is a third-party service used by housing providers to extort additional money from tenants by denying or making it extremely difficult to get "approval" for an assistance animal. If it seems like their actions are non-compliant with the *** or HUD guidelines on assistance animals, it's because they are not and they are not required by law to adhere to these guidelines because they are a third-party organization. If your housing provider uses PetScreening to try to extort additional fees by imposing undue burden in the process of verifying need for an assistance animal, do not walk--RUN away from that housing provider. File a complaint with the Department of HUD and reference PetScreening to get their business shut down.If you work for PetScreening, you are no better than a common phone scammer extorting money from vulnerable people. Shame on you.**** R. ******** III (CEO, ****************************) is a realtor and politician. If you think that someone in the property management business would willfully create a platform that is designed to help people avoid paying more money, think again.***** ****** on PetScreening via LinkedIn:"...Its not just about scaling, its about owning the #rentalhousing pet space. And that means expansion into #militaryhousiing and #affordablehousing, deeper AI-driven #riskassessment, and enhanced #propertymanagement integrations with platforms like Yardi and AppFolio. If youre in proptech and still sleeping on the #peteconomy, you need a shorter leash. This funding isnt just about PetScreening growing, its about a fundamental shift in how the #rentalmarket views #pets. For landlords, pets are no longer a liability, theyre a revenue stream, a retention tool, and a compliance game-changer. For #tenants, its a future where no pets allowed becomes a relic of outdated policy."They are describing our pets as "missed income" or "potential revnue". Sickening.
