Very Expensive
my cat became very poorly over the weekend and spent 2 nights there, had IV fluids, intravenous antibiotics and other medications and also blood tests and ultra sound, the cost £3300 which has swallowed up half my insurance, my cat is still not back to baseline, I’ve had the worry of not been able to pay for their scandalous fees, I’ve immediately registered all my pets now with Animal Shelter, had my cat been with them in the first place the cost would of been £719, I will never be going there again, I think that Pet-medics focus is profit over care.

I booked my dog into be spayed with pet medics in Worsley after a referral from our own vets a couple of months ago. I’ve been told by more than one vet that the timing of the operation is very important. As I have two dogs I decided to book some time off to be with her after her operation for a couple of weeks while she recovered. Today I received an email from someone at pet medics called Jessica Beckett to say they had cancelled the operation and was it okay to do it a week later. When I replied to Jessica Becketts email I received an auto reply to say she was on holiday. Don’t use these vets they are dangerous and have no idea what they are doing.
Leaving 2* purely down to the vets
Leaving 2* purely down to the vets, my cat following surgery was admitted. On arrival i was advised it was £500 for overnight stay plus meds. After 8 hours was advised another £500. Once they have you pet you are screwed. This is a money making machine. I asked what the blood pressure was of my pet and they took this and charged £56 for doing it. Whilst great care was given they have a total disregard for your financial situation. I told the vet explicitly twice that i could not pay anymore after £1k in 36 hours and would pick up my pet the next day. I called at 9am to to advise i would pick up that morning to get a phone call back within 10 mins from a vet advising a further bill for £356. So over 36 hours for meds and stay my bill was £1400. They have a target to charge £2100 which they mentioned on every call even though i advised that was not possible for me. No doubt the vets want the best for your pet but they have a complete disregard for your financial position no one listens to you when you say no more i am picking up my pet. Feels very uncomfortable and scam like behaviour no consultation with owners. This is why more regulation of this industry is needed. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE SHOP ARROUND FOR EMERGENCY CARE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR THEIR UNETHICAL PRACTICE OF HOW THEY TREAT OWNERS.

Just incredible. Unfortunately i had to have my beautiful baby boy Beans put to sleep on Monday. The hardest and saddest day of my life. The team here who were working Monday night (24th Nov) especially Sim, the most amazing vet, are all unbelievably special people. The care, kindness and understanding was just so above and beyond. I'm still too upset to deal with things but they have liaised with my chosen funeral provider to collect Beans for me. You are all exceptional and as a company, Pet Medics are truly blessed to have you working for them. From the bottom of my heart i thank you for your incredible support ❤️
Don't be steamrollered into irreversible decisions
Whilst abroad we received a message from our daughter that our dog was off colour and had been taken to petmedics. Later we spoke to a vet, who recommended, after just a pre-assessment, that, given that the dog (a poodle) was 15, he be put to sleep.
We refused and requested an assessment, while we made arrangements to return to the UK.
Later, a second vet informed my daughter that the dog had had fluids and was doing better, and would be kept overnight.
On arrival in the UK the following day our daughter told us petmedics said we could pick him up that afternoon. When we did, a 3rd vet, Sally, outlined a long term plan, involving checking the ratio of good to bad days, to inform what the next steps should be. Since, he has had 58 good days and zero bad ones.
The point of this review is to demonstrate the complete difference of opinion between the 2 vets in the same practice. We could have made a terribly, fatally wrong decision if we had agreed with initial recommendation, which appears at best premature, at worst dismissive.
I feel strongly that if this had occurred on a week day, our regular vet would have given him medication and advised us to keep an eye on him, rather than swiftly suggesting euthanasia.
The outrageous expense of what are, first and foremost, commercial businesses, is rightly being investigated by the CMA. But that is another issue.
⭐ 1 Star
⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disappointed With PetMedics Walkden
I recently took my two pet rats, Maris and Piper, to PetMedics Walkden on Thursday 23/11/25 to see Vetician Sim Baykal. Both were prescribed Baytril and I requested Metacam for pain and inflammation relief, explaining that I’ve owned over a dozen rats and it’s always been safe and effective for them.
I was told Metacam wasn’t in stock but I’d get a call the next day when it arrived. By Friday afternoon, still no call. I couldn’t get through to the Walkden branch at all, so another PetMedics location kindly chased it up and confirmed it was ready for collection.
When my brother went to pick it up, he was handed Mipet Meloxaid instead of Metacam — a generic version that I hadn’t been told would be substituted. I didn’t think much of it at first since the active ingredient was the same, but as soon as I tried to give it to my rats, both completely rejected it. They dribbled it out, rubbed their faces in distress, and refused to touch any food it was mixed with.
I called the practice to explain and asked to exchange it for Metacam or Loxicom, as both are palatable and suitable for small animals. After the receptionist spoke with the vets, I was told there were no alternatives available and that I wouldn’t get a refund because the bottle had been opened.
That’s completely unacceptable. I was prescribed one brand and given another without consent, and now I’m left with a medication my pets can’t take. Their welfare has been compromised because of poor communication and a lack of care.
It feels like profit was prioritised over proper treatment. For such a costly visit, I expected professionalism and compassion, not to be dismissed when raising genuine concerns. I will not be returning to PetMedics Walkden and strongly advise others to double-check what they’re being dispensed before leaving the clinic.
thank you for looking after my loki and…
thank you for looking after my loki and everything you did before he was put to sleep
Would definately not recommend
We were referred to Pet Medics by our regular vet, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. From the start, the staff showed very little empathy, and the first topic of conversation seemed to be about money rather than our pet’s wellbeing.
Communication between staff members was inconsistent while our cat was under their care, leaving us confused and frustrated. When we raised our concerns with Ben Dixon, who we understand is a senior vet, his response was defensive and dismissive rather than understanding. If this attitude comes from senior staff, it’s sadly unsurprising that it filters down through the team.
What concerned us most was the lack of proper documentation — no scan images were taken, and we were simply told to take their word for the diagnosis. This level of incompetence is unacceptable, especially in a place trusted with the care of beloved pets.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend Pet Medics.
I have to say I have very mixed…
I have to say I have very mixed feelings about Petmedics. The 1 star review is not reflective of the work by the vets and reception staff who I rate very highly. This is more a reflection on how, as a business Petmedics are more interested in making money over any reflection of loyalty to their customers. This now extends to a 2 minute follow on session to get a prescription organised at the cost of £35. I’m sure if they could, they would charge for use of oxygen in their surgeries.
I’d be quite happy to use their veterinary staff, but really begrudge dealing with their management team…
Disappointing
Disappointing. Rude and disrespectful admin staff. I was begging them to send my cat’s referral to another vet provider and all they did was to send some clinical history. They deliberately didn’t sent the referral because I disagreed with the price I was given at first, as they changed their mind last minute and I was given different total price .
That delayed the surgery of my cat in the other place.
All they were after was money!!!
Extremely disappointed with this place.
Don’t waist time to take your pet there, find better place where they care more for the pets instead of the money.
AVOID - Lies and manipulation
Only have 1 star because I had to! This is not even worth 0 stars. First time I visited few years ago I didn’t have a good experience and now again I’m having a bad experience so I says everything really. I seen a post online stating a cat had been found and brought into the clinic fitting my lost cat’s description and found deceased on a street my cat always plays on (next to my house) on the day he went missing. I rang to go view and identify this cat so I could bring him home if it was him. I was told the cat had already been identified and claimed. I left it at this and continued to post and search for my boy. Until I was getting messages from the person who found this cat saying it was definitely my cat he found and took to the vets after seeing our pictures online. I then rang the vets back to explain this situation and was then told no ginger cat was brought into the clinic that day. Very confusing as I spoke to someone the day before regarding it!! I was then asked to send pictures, which I did but nobody took my concern seriously and I was fobbed me off each time with just the statement ‘cat has already been claimed’. I then asked if we could have pictures so we so identify and put our minds at rest. I was then told no pictures could be sent as the body had already been cremated. I then got in contact with the lady who claimed and identified this cat as hers. We compared pictures and she was unsure and gave us permission to go view the cat as he’s only being created Monday (4 days away). Confused as I was already told he had been cremated I rang the vets and asked if I could view the body to be told again he has been cremated already. I then relayed the information to the lady who claimed him and she was upset because she did not make any cremation decisions yet (individual or communal) !! She then rang the vets herself and they told her the cat had NOT been cremated so then I rang again to say if he’s not been cremated then can we come see him to be told AGAIN for the 3rd time that he’s definitely been cremated and they checked his file and denied ever speaking to someone else telling them he’s not cremated. The lady who claimed the cat then rang to find out what was going on and told the vets to let us see the cat, they then apologised to her and said it was a mistake and they confirmed the cat has NOT been cremated and that we can’t see the cat because they are emergency vets and case is closed. I then found out the lady who claimed the cat lives a good distance away from where the cat was found and her cat had a collar on (cat found had no collar) and went missing a while ago. Our cat went missing the day that cat was found, had no collar on(like the cat found) and lives next to the street he was found. The man who found him took a picture of the tail and back legs of the cat when he found him and it is identical to our cat when comparing pictures. I sent face pictures of our cat and the other ladies cat to the man who found him and both him and his wife 100% confirmed it was our cat and no doubt about it. The man who found him was shocked that the vets identified the cat as the other person’s and contacted them to tell them a mistake had been made but again the vets didn’t care. They wouldn’t send us pictures, wouldn’t let us view him and kept lying to us. They had no compassion or care. If the lying couldn’t get any worse they also told us the cat had already been collected but when speaking to the other lady she confirmed she was on holiday and did not collect the cat yet and that he would be at the vets at least another few days. AVOID unless you want to be fed lies and manipulation regarding your babies.

My dog was instantly calmer after leaving the vets thanks so much didn’t catch the girls name that seen to Ted but Thankyou!!
Could not recommend PetMedics enough
Could not recommend PetMedics enough! They are wonderful! I had to take my 11 year old pug Bella in for an emergency appointment and turned out she needed emergency surgery and an overnight stay, the team were amazing from start to finish! They kept us informed every step of the way and did a fantastic job of looking after Bella whilst she was in their care. A special mention to James, the vet who operated on Bella and has been dealing with her aftercare. Thank you so much to whole team for saving her life, Bella is very grateful as well! ❤️
Exceptional service from start to…
Exceptional service from start to finish. Every member of staff was very professional and caring and attentive.
Absolute 5* service and I would highly recommend to anybody who has a fur baby that needs care. Our girl flick is blind and deaf and needed emergency treatment, we were so worried for flick because she can’t hear or see and was very stressed, but the level of care and compassion for her was next level. Thank you to each and every member of the team. You should all be very proud of the service you all provide.
disgusting company
I am unsure why this money was taken from my wages that I had worked hard to earn with no explanation. I have been harassed by DWF Law for over 12 months now over an invoice vet bill with MVS(cvs) which I was told was settled with money from my wages which had been used to cover this. I am now being told this was not the case and the money was taken from my wages without any communication between myself and CVS for a supposed overpayment which I have never been made aware of.
I just want to grieve for my beloved and dearly missed pet and I have found this entire ordeal quite distressing, I am very disappointed as CVS is supposed to be a great company to work for but after the way I was disgracefully treated as an employee along with this terrible ordeal, I feel that is a misleading statement.
You have not been clear with myself or communicated with DWF which has led to mistakes being made and causing me a great deal of distress and thus impacted my already delicate mental health.
I cannot gather the words to describe how broken hearted and unhappy I am and feel that this matter has not been handled in an empathetic and professional manner, nor has my wellbeing been considered.
STAFF BULLYING also a big issue

I used to work as a veterinary nurse…
I used to work as a veterinary nurse for this company and when returning to work I had maternity discrimination by my lime manager who lied about my contract - got money taken off me for her incompetence when I was covering all the night shifts that she needed. I was used and discarded as nothing. Now refusing me veterinary treatment for my dog after their lack of care in not sending a prescription and making my dog with a heart condition wait nearly 2 weeks after telling me they had sent it. I was refunded the money by animed as they DID NOT send it as requested just took the money for doing it. This caused a lot of stress and I do believe this is due to what my manager did to me while I was trying to return to work after maternity leave. Please be careful. They ruined my career as a veterinary nurse and I decided to take myself off the register due to the lack of trust it gave me in the profession.
Lost my 16 year old cat on New Year’s…
Ignore All these bad reviews clearly made by council heads with no money…. It’s an emergency hospital open 24 hrs 7 days a week… you have no insurance it’s tough!!! I didn’t but new money was no price to make sure my pet was being looked after!! with every staff member trained for different stuff I felt everything she would of needed was there, not a typical small vet with not much emergency measures my 16 year old cat on New Year’s Day, her back legs collapsed and within an hr I was rushed in, reception were amazing they took her straight away, within 15 mins the vet called me in I was clearly upset and heartbroken we had a very heartfelt chat and she helped me realise what was best for bonnie she was in pain, I was allowed to wait in a private room with her for my parents to come say bye and we all held her in a blanket as she fell asleep I Will honestly never forget that day but I couldn’t of asked for a better place to let her go knowing she had been absolutely off her nut on drugs and comfy as she did… THANKYOU to everyone!! was dreading the day.. and THANKYOU to the vet and staff for her last paw print on a lovely card you sent me made me cry! Love all our babies till the very end! RIP Bonnie… !Truly recommend them!! Ignore the benifit scruffs giving them bad reviews lol ppl need to get a grip. Do not have animals if you cannot afford and treat them right….
Invoice just received after 9 months …
Just received a phone call stating there is a debt on my account for putting my dog to sleep on 4th April 24 that they have not invoiced me for as they didn’t send it out
it’s now 23rd December!!! They admitted they didn’t send it but
was told that it will be escalated to debt collection agency!!!
Absolute incompetence!
