I signed up for PDFSimpli on March 6, paying what appeared to be a simple one-time fee of $0.99 to convert an important scanned PDF into an editable Word document.
The product worked for that one task. But what followed felt less like a service—and more like a trap.
At no point during the purchase journey was it clearly communicated that this was a trial leading to a recurring subscription. There was no explicit warning, no prominent disclosure, and certainly no reminder notification before billing.
On March 21, at 3 AM, I was abruptly woken up by an SMS: my card had been auto-debited $39.95.
Shock. Confusion. Then frustration.
Only after digging through the original email did I discover a buried line in fine print stating that I would be charged every four weeks. That is not transparency—that is concealment.
I immediately reached out to the founder, Jordan Iversen, and their support team requesting a refund. There has been no resolution.
This experience stands in stark contrast to how responsible subscription businesses operate. For example, LinkedIn Premium sends proactive reminders before billing—giving users a fair chance to opt out.
That is what ethical customer practice looks like.
What happened here feels like a classic “gotcha” billing model—designed not around customer value, but around customer oversight.
I have no recurring need for this service, and had I been clearly informed, I would never have subscribed.
Final verdict:
A functional product overshadowed by deeply questionable billing practices.

It made me create an account saying i would be able to download the document for free. Then it didn't let me download the document, it asked for payment. So yeah, disingenuous marketing

Site didn’t transcribe correctly the information on the PDF to a Word or Excel document. I only tried 1 document and since it didn’t worked I thought that I cancelled it, and for my surprise, I noticed a week ago that they have been charging me almost $50 every month (for 5 months) without receiving a formal email receipt.
I requested a refund and they only refunded the recent month and they don’t want to refund the other 4 months because they say it’s part of the subscription rules. I told them that if a charge is being made an email receipt needs to be send to the customer as an evidence of the payment received but they never sent any receipt. I’ve escalated twice. The first time they said that someone will contact me but not one has either sent me an email or has called me. It seems like a fraud page. Not even a case number was sent to my email. It’s just so disappointing to know that there are people out there in the world that doesn’t respect others sacrifices to earn that money and you can’t have it back knowing that you never used that page. Also, the charges were not made on the same day of each month. Not even one day. $200 that I need to pay my car that broke down. $200 that I need to pay my bills. But, yeah, they just don’t care that they were charging me without any receipt being sent. God will take care of this.

Do not use this company..I only ever subscribed for one sheet at £1.95 and then find £49.95 taken out of my account. I complain and ask for a refund and they say they have issued a ticket and will get back, usually within 24hrs and it never happened and now they have taken another £49.95 from my accounting £99.90 in total for converting one sheet.
