The worst insurer, horrible customer service and claims process
The worst insurer with a horrible customer service and claims process I have ever dealt with. Agents are rude and disrespectful. Claims not paid out in spite of providing the quotes they had requested. They just make a desktop assessment and pay 25% of the claim hoping you would go away. DO NOT INSURER WITH THESE MUPPETS. Issue is now with AFCA.

Systems and processes are all broken
Systems and processes are all broken. Only process that seems to work efficiently is the monthly collection of the fees.
1. You can't see your own claims online
2. They close claims randomly based on unclear instructions
3. They also close claims when they themselves merge policies, not realising an existing policy was stored under the policy that was closed
4. They take weeks to follow up with repairers
5. They ask the same question everytime i call, when i say something like "for the third time... this", they get all whiny and say they've never spoken to me personally before, they must forget that they all work for the one company and this information needs to be stored and utilised by future customer service reps.
Helpful & professional service for car insurance
Sabrina at PD Insurance was very helpful in reviewing and renewing my car insurance. Thank you.
Don’t trust this company
Don’t trust this company, all they do is to rip off the customers regardless of their duties and responsibilities, very bad experience to deal with this company, I will not renew my insurance policy next year, no reputation, no assistance and unprofessional!
Our Ambiguous Policies, Systematic Rejection — A Deeply Flawed Insurer
Our experience with PD Insurance reflects a pattern of denial rooted in vague, discretionary policy language that obstructs responsible veterinary care.
Despite advertising coverage for retained deciduous teeth, claims are routinely denied due to a 180-day dental waiting period — effectively nullifying access to this benefit during the medically necessary timeframe (typically 5–7 months). The policy wording omits this clinical reality, rendering the benefit functionally unusable.
Premiums were increased without substantiated justification — in our case, a 50% rise attributed to general market forces, later walked back following dispute. This suggests the increase was neither necessary nor defensible.
Essential ear drops prescribed by our veterinarian to conservatively treat a fungal infection were rejected on the grounds that they fell under the catch-all exclusion for “ointments and other applications.” The wording is overbroad, encompassing nearly any topical product irrespective of substance classification or medical purpose.
The most concerning incident involved our senior dog’s eye consultation, neurological exam, and blood test. Despite being medically appropriate and undertaken to rule out treatable conditions, the claim was denied based on the insurer’s “inconclusive diagnosis” clause (Page 12). This clause appears designed to invalidate legitimate claims during the critical diagnostic phase of care — even in cases where no definitive treatment exists.
These examples show a troubling reliance on strategically ambiguous exclusions that allow the insurer to override clinical judgment. We strongly encourage any potential customer to scrutinise their policy wording, particularly the exclusions section, which is extensive, subjective, and in our view, written in bad faith.
We have terminated our policies and returned to a reputable provider. Based on our experience, PD Insurance functions more as a denial mechanism than a safety net.

AVOID !
AVOID !! AVOID this scam company, i can not believe this like gang company can operate in Australia. My claim denial, due to a 5 years old a very mall scratch on the other side of the car has been deal with pre-existing damage without state..... . the damage does not affect any operation and passed through pink slip never has problem. being a customer 10+years since Progressive then they changed name to PD. price looks cheap??? but it will be crap service, once you have claim you end up to pay huge more. if you do not claim. they are nice people and take your money , thankfully. but once claim, they firstly do not care you as a customer, they will treat you like criminal people. checking you and all your listed drivers history. if any one has a bad driving history, any one has claim if if you did not stated. they will deny your claim. and be careful when they asked you took photos around your car which involved in accident, if they found one tiny scratch if you did not stated when you bought your policy or renewal, they will deny your claim , saying you failed to disclose the "pre-existing damage".
this company has no direct phone line but a 1300.. number, every time you called them it needs to wait for half an hour. and they have no office in Australia, only post box number. and the call centre people are overseas.
anyone read this please avoid this company and share this with your friends. it will save your huge money and stress. go for other companies with good reputation even you pay a few hundred more.

PD did the right thing for our dog
We got PD pet insurance for our dogs. One of our dogs got a ruptured disc in her spine. We found out she has Intervertebral Disc Degeneration (IVDD). The surgery was thousands but PD paid it out no fuss. Two years later it happened again. PD paid out again. Now its happened a third time and PD have paid out again.
It is stressful enough for your dog to have this horrible injury without needing to worry about money as well. In our experience PD have integrity and they have done the right thing even though it will cut into their profits. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Slow and inconvenient
Claims process slow, cash payment through me to repairer is strange double handling despite the repairer being one of their “preferred repairers”
Communication via email is difficult and generally goes unanswered.
All policies are set to auto-renew so beware at renewal time
Patricia was an absolute delight to…
Patricia was an absolute delight to talk to. She was very friendly, cheerful and very helpful. She made my day, and i will continue with my policy. Thankyou Patricia
I was about to buy full comprehensive…
I was about to buy full comprehensive insurance with these guys but after hearing these comments I'll stay far away thank you.
PD what a mare
What a mare, constant harassment from them if you choose to elsewhere. Threatening language in emails and texts trying to scare people.
Stay clear peeps
After a reply from the Chief Operating Officer, thought I’d share context of emails sent.
For the record I’ve had:
7 text messages
2-3 voice messages
4 emails
2-3 phone calls
Email correspondence from them reads like so.
“This email is to inform you that your Insurance Policy is currently in debt with us due to non-payment”
In bold:
“YOUR POLICY HAS EXPIRED FINAL NOTICE OF POLICY CANCELLATION”
“YOUR POLICY IS OVERDUE YOUR POLICY RENEWAL IS OVERDUE”
I’m not in debt to you, complete lies.
The tone of your emails is woeful bordering on harassment. Some older people would be scared about these and pay up. I suggest you change how you approach people for custom.
I pay YOUI more because their customer service is better.
Life advice - be kind.

Third Party Property Damage
THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY IN AUSTRALIAThese guys have the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. I have tried speaking to them in regards to an accident that occured, Yet they do not consider the third parties concerns in an appropriate manner, rather a very demeaning and incredibly poor tone of voice, the way they speak to you is appalling!
Not to mention, it took them 2 months to get the damage assessed, and now there are things on the assessment report that weren't even in the incident! And this raises a major concern because to me it feels as though either their client did more damage to the vehicle in the two months or they just decided to add all of it on to try and wrought me for money!
These guys have an incredibly bad reputation already, simply look at all the other reviews! I highly recommend everyone to get the ombudsman involved in this company and so this company is closed and no longer allowed to operate in Australia.
They also discriminate against your financial situation! Which is incredibly disgusting and these people deserve to be sacked for the way they treat you!
This company is full of manipulation and a team that doesn't care about the people they interact with, Do NOT go to this company! I also suggest everyone who reads this takes these guys to the ombudsman and request a very detailed look into their operation. Something isn't right and it doesn't sit right with me at all, yet alone other people!!
I will make sure I never deal with this company after this problem they've caused is over.
Pride comes before destruction, So be very expectant on a company crash & a lot of court dates!!!
I sincerely state that the above statement is true and my experience with this company. Let God Almighty deal with you henceforth! I shake the dust off my feet against you as a Testimony!!

TERRIBLE COMPANY!!
TERRIBLE COMPANY!!! AVOID!!
I am a General Practitioner, usually driving with 2 kids and a baby in the car, and have had quite simply the WORST experience with PD insurance
A tradesman's ute reversed/“T-boned” into the side of my car, and the driver of which politely apologised and gave me PD’s details.
Firstly, they are almost IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with. Everything about their business model seems to be designed to avoid the customer, so they just give up. The wait time on the phone is ridiculous (often >30mins), and when you do finally speak with an advisor they are either abrupt and discourteous (“Allanah” - settlements officer), or simply pass the buck (“Alix” - Senior sales and service consultant) or they just drop out the phone call and don’t call you back (“Terry” the mumbling call handler). For further confirmation of such behaviour, please see other customer google reviews which report similar instances.
Their email correspondence also takes longer than traditional postal mail, so if you are thinking of taking out insurance with PD, make sure you have time on your hands. Honestly, in a time of expected digital efficiency I am absolutely BEWILDERED how this company is still going. The staff must be having an absolute laugh.
During this saga, PD then audaciously tried to partially blame me for the crash, accusing me of “failing to keep a safe lookout and driving in a manner that prevented me from taking evasive action”.
Furthermore, “it is reasonable to expect a responsible driver to be aware of vehicles moving in and out of spaces and to drive accordingly” and “had I been driving in a manner appropriate to the conditions, I would have been able to take evasive action or sound the horn”.
Let me assure you that I am a very responsible family doctor, who is usually driving with 2 kids and a baby in the car. I am honestly about as responsible as a member of society gets, believe me.
When a flat bed/trundle tray Ute piled with building materials rapidly reverses about a metre out of his space into the side of your car, there are several reasons why I could not take their proposed evasive action.
1. The time it took for him to reverse into me was probably less than a second.
2. He T-boned me from the side, so I would have been relying on peripheral vision.
3. There is no chance I had enough reaction time to have evaded or sound my horn.
I was 100% not at fault, and I have felt that over the last 3-4hours of correspondence with PD that they have tried to repeatedly fob me off through various tactics. It has been a tremendous waste of my time, and of course, needlessly stressful.
The company seems deliberately tuned up to be evasive, slow and obstructive - I can only assume in the hope that customers just give up. The staff are lackadaisical, don’t seem to care, and are unenthusiastic. The ridiculous thing is that this is only over about a thousand dollars, which is testament to this.
If you need insurance, please look elsewhere. Just go with someone that you have at least heard of. And one that doesn’t just advertise cars AND pets. Random mix, which probably accounts for the randomness of my experience with them.

had small accident on 17th july
had small accident on 17th july, only had my side approved finally today. third party keeps getting mucked around told to ring PD and they tell her to send quote, however when she tries to get quote the repairers say they need a quote number from insurer and cant do quote. PD wont give her a claim/quote number she is going around in circles. Would have to be the worst service and the longest time i have ever taken to get cars fixed, considering the are literally both just scratched nothing big. they so uncontactable as hours are 9-5 mon-fri which most people work and they take forever to answer the phone. I cannot wait to get these cars fixed and move to a new insurer. Dont want to go through this again.
Not sure what stars to give
Not sure what stars to give, I have been trying to get in touch regarding my claim through their phone, but after hours of wait, the phone line disconnects. Very pathetic non existent customer service
I have been with pd insurance for over…
I have been with pd insurance for over 2 years… someone ran into the back of me completely not my fault and they refused my claim
I am of course no longer with them
Disgusting!!
