Satisfying aspects of our experience: Great price. Love supporting family owned / small businesses. We chose group shipping as we did not have anywhere near a whole container of belongings.

While 99% of our belongings arrived intact - for which we are grateful - there were some disappointing aspects of our experience:

1. I packed most of our belongings and the packers said they could not have done a better job. Of what they did pack, some big items were only bubble wrapped and not boxed and were damaged during transit. The company took no responsibility for cost of damage.

2. We paid over $500 for insurance. Minimum premium was advised as $100 in original email quote, it was not until issuance of the insurance certificate (i.e. paying for it) that it stated a minimum premium of $500 (possibly due to insured value - $15k - of our items. This wasn't clearly communicated prior to certificate issuance. I wouldn't waste money on insurance next time - unless I thought the ship would sink and lose ALL of our stuff.

3. Service was friendly, but only seemed organised and on top of things through quoting process. After this time I had to follow up to finalise and confirm our booking, and proactively follow up for updates.

Ok overall - did the job soundly, and imperfect service I can live with (we are human), but would reconsider insurance expense and prepack EVERYTHING myself.

As a first time, it can be quite stressful researching businesses which help shipping household personal effects from Brisbane, Australia to the Midlands, UK. We shortlisted down to a couple of companies who were willing to help however we were not entirely convinced. Through recommendations we found Jo Ikin of Overseas Packers & Shippers (OPS). We received a very personalised service and assurances for the speed they can collect and organise the delivery to UK address. The service provided by Jo was amazing, we felt comfortable with Jo's personalised approach and no question was too much trouble. On the day of collection, the crew arrived earlier than expected (they even called ahead to let us know they were en route). They packed all items with meticulous care and the attention to detail for a couple of young lads in their early-ish 30's was outstanding. I explained my concerns and they reassured me it was quite common as moving possessions half way round the world is a big deal. They were polite, good to speak with and highly reassuring. Amazingly upon receipt in the UK, everything arrived earlier than expected and not a single item was damaged or broken! This is the outstanding degree of service OPS provided for us. It was a pleasure to have received this very competitive service and I couldn't thank Jo and her colleagues enough. I would definitely recommend the company, Jo and their service. Thank you OPS

Dreadful experience. Rough handling. e.g. literally watched one of our items fall off the back of the truck. False records of what was packed and the condition it was in when packed. Appalling documentation overall - illegible, paper-based which we were expected to sign off on. Were slow, sloppy and not very communicative but when they did speak, spoke very disparagingly of the receiving company, which was not very reassuring. Worry now that our property will get lost and/or not arrive intact.

So sorry we used these guys.
They were not the cheapest either! Would not recommend.
Would never use again.

PS: Our household goods arrived today. Most was intact but very difficult to sign off on because as before, descriptions did not match the contents. The poor documentation attracted the attention of NZ customs and had to pay extra ($795) for their inspection. We were also sent a letter of warning from them about the poor documentation. AND, rather than "scratched and scuffed", the term they used fraudulently to describe items that were in perfect condition, were infact, smashed.
We now face the tedious task of pursuing insurance for the damaged items, some one-offs and irreplaceable.

Tonally, the companies response to our reviews has been bullying but also tokenistic and adversarial. After a weak expression of fault that things did not go as we were lead to believe they would, they merely persisted with their deceptive and misleading practices e.g. by stating that we exaggerated the damage because we made so few insurance claims. Needless to say, many items were not claimed for because their value was less than that of the insurance excess. Further, the antique clock that had fallen off the back of the truck, was broken and we fixed this ourselves.

As before.
Would not recommend.
Would never use again.

Have used them several times, and each time the service gets a little worse. The most recent occasion has taken 4 months and still not resolved. The have misplaced my items and took weeks to find them. Were no upfront about their charging, at each stage hitting me with another bill, and now they have misplaced my deposit and payment, which was done in Aug 22.
Poor or no response to questions and concerns. Will never use them again or PSS removals (UK Overseeas Packers).
