Inconsistent in quality of firmness - may not be firm at all

I bought the rejuvenated Extra Firm mattress after my partner purchased the same model a few months earlier. Their mattress is genuinely very firm and excellent, which is exactly why I decided to buy the same one.

Unfortunately, the mattress I received feels completely different. The two mattresses are positioned side-by-side on identical bases, which makes the comparison very easy. The original mattress is extremely firm as advertised, whereas the one delivered to me allows significant sinking and feels much softer - I sank into this mattress around 40% of the mattress thickness. The difference is obvious the instant of lying on them. Several other people have tried both mattresses and were surprised that they are supposed to be the same model.

I understand that mattresses may vary slightly in feel, but the difference here is not minor. When a product is marketed as an “extra firm (9/10)” mattress and described as “much firmer than standard mattresses”, you would reasonably expect any mattress supplied under that description to be firm, and certainly firmer than your average mattress. In my case, the firmness difference is substantial enough that it raises questions about quality control.

Customer service responded promptly and were polite, but the company’s position was that firmness can vary, refusing to accept or investigate the significant issues we were describing, instead implying that it was me exaggerating the difference in firmness. As such, they would not replace the mattress. The only option offered was to return it under the 30-night trial period for a refund.

It’s disappointing because the original Extra Firm mattress we bought from Otty really is excellent, which is why I ordered another one. However, based on my experience, buyers should be aware that two mattresses sold as the same “extra firm” model may feel very different. I would also question the validity of their advertising claims if Otty genuinely believe that the mattress supplied to me was ‘extra firm’.

We can see that the mattress purchased was a Rejuvenated (refurbished) model, and these can feel softer than a brand new mattress as they have been previously used and reconditioned. Because of this, there can be a noticeable difference in firmness compared to a new version of the same model.
We understand this may not have met your expectations. We did offer the option to return the mattress within the trial period for a refund.

struggling to make the pillow comfortable

The only reason for the less than perfect score is because my husband, who has cervical spondylosis, is struggling to find the right amount of filling for the pillow. Generally, he feels it is not comfortable. We were thinking about returning it but realised we had disposed of the packaging which I think means we can't return is under the guarantee. The reviews for Otty were overwhelmingly good which was why we chose them but I am not sure it is right for us.

Recommended

Accurate description and plenty of info to help with decision making. Prompt and informed delivery. The mattress is firmer than I expected but no regrets. It’s very heavy too, but that isn’t a negative. Very happy with purchase. Would recommend.

Terrible service

Terrible service, ordered a single mattress but given a doulble in a box marked ‘single’
Called customer service who was apologetic and said she would talk to the manufacturers as it was a problem with them.
Arranged for it to be picked up and a single re-delivered.

The new mattress was also a DOUBLE!!! In a box saying single.

Called customer service, asked for the next mattress to be checked it is a single so I don’t receive the wrong size again to be told that wasn’t possible for it to be checked.
Absolutely ridiculous and I was not prepared to have the wrong size sent again.
So told by customer service to disposable of the mattress and wait for a refund.

Shocking service, I had to take time out of work 3 times to be home for the pleasure of being messed about and still without what I ordered in the first place.
Shame on you OTTY

To clarify, your original order was for a topper, not a full mattress. However, we’ve recently identified an issue at our factory where some topper sizes were incorrectly packed into the wrong boxes, which led to situations like this.

We completely understand how frustrating this must have been—especially with multiple deliveries and the inconvenience of waiting in—and we sincerely apologise for the experience you’ve had.

I asked for a swap of mattresses

I asked for a swap of mattresses. Before the 100 days. Paid extra for the best one. They told me the old one would be collected and new one delivered on a Monday. Old one was collected. I was then without one until the following thursday. Even though they knew I had severe back problem. No apologies and even charged for 2 more pillows that were never recieved. Will not be using them again.

If the new mattress is a higher-priced model, an additional payment is taken to cover the difference. However, you were not charged for any additional pillows, and we can confirm no payment was taken for these.

Highly recommended!

Have been thinking about getting an OTTY mattress for a while after reading the glowing Guardian review and my old mattress was past its best but was put off by the delivery issues. Once I saw they were using a new courier (DX - who were fantastic by the way) I ordered the original hybrid, memory foam pillows and a mattress protector and couldn’t be more pleased. The mattress is a little firmer than I am used to so might look for a memory foam mattress topper in future but overall I have had some of the best nights sleep in ages with this mattress - highly recommend!

Divan bed base terrible

Mattress is fine delivery was fine got 2 singles for my kids and one double for myself with the otty divan bed base. The noise bed base makes when you move is unbearable wakes me up constantly..

Terrible build absolutely ridiculous will be getting rid of bed base and buying something that is actually stable.

Never again.

Almost everything was 5 star - but the guys came to take away our old mattress 2 days before the new one was delivered. We decided it was easier to go with this and sleep in the spare room for a couple of nights because we didn't want to end up with both mattresses in the house at the same time!

Returned and no refund …

We ordered an Otty mattress and didn't enjoy the mattress after the first couple of nights. We decided to use the 100 day trial and refund promise.
The communication was slow and long winded. It took about 2 weeks to return and we are still awaiting a refund for the returned mattress after many emails to them.

Your initial return request on 8th March was responded to within 24 hours. There was then a 3-day gap before your next message, after which we again replied promptly within 24 hours and progressed the return immediately. At no point were there delays from our side in responding or moving the process forward.
As explained, mattress collections require coordination with a third-party courier, which can take a few days to arrange. Once the mattress arrived back at our warehouse, the refund process began in line with our clearly stated policy of up to 14 days.
Your refund is due by 2nd April and is currently well within this timeframe.
We always aim to be transparent and fair, and all timelines in this case have been met as outlined in our policy.
