Orla Clancy is a visual artist and writer who lives in County Limerick with her husband Dolf Patijn, a native of Groningen in the Netherlands. Orla sells original artworks and some limited edition print-on-demand art prints through her website, and some art prints of her human figure studies on Saatchi Online Gallery. No NFTs. Orla Clancy's artworks are deceptively simple. Strong composition, distinctive lines and carefully considered colours make up artworks that are visually very appealing, and each one has a story to it. Some of her works are very small, and others quite large - large enough to require a van for delivery. Orla Clancy's art is heavily influenced by storytelling, history, songs, and the lives of non-famous people, working from photography and sketches taken on location. Her 'Peoplescape' works focus on social interactions and dynamics, and allow the viewer to 'finish' the story. Her landscapes,mainly of Ireland, are influenced by and connected to the many songs she learned from her father Patrick Clancy as a child, as well as the novels of Walter Macken, Benedict Kiely, and the poetry of WB Yeats, and of course myths and legends of ancient Ireland.
