They have become a money grab
They have become a money grab. I always try to schedule an early morning apt. Even doing this they are constantly late due to double booking. Today’s apt was 30 minutes after they open. He is an hour late. You figure it out. No matter what you come in for - they want a urine test. I am in for high blood pressure. Done need a urine test. Every test puts $150 in their pocket. Obviously the patients time has no meaning to them. This is an ongoing issue and today is definitely not the first time
Absolute horrible treatment from your…
Absolute horrible treatment from your level funded plan's claim department! Even from your managers! They are completely avoiding addressing issues.
Optum Health
Optum Health, formerly Caremount, is the worst now. Most of the good doctors are either not accepting new patients or have retired because they couldn't stand working for Optum. Since my doctor retired in January 2024, I have been trying to find a new doctor at Optum with good reviews and who wasn't just out of school or nearing retirement. It has been difficult, to say the least. On three separate occasions, I found a doctor with great reviews who met all my other requirements, and I booked an appointment only to get a call within 1-3 days from staff members, informing me the doctor isn't accepting new patients, which wasn't indicated on their portal.
It happened again today, only this time one of the staff members I spoke to on the phone was very rude about it, and I lost my patience, prompting me to write this review. If you can avoid it, stay away from Optum; go to Northern Westchester or someplace else if you can. And if you can't avoid it, best of luck.
I'm giving one star because that's the least I can give.
Extremely Helpful in getting Rx Setup
I needed to get a new script setup for delivery. Cindy did a great job in getting my co-pay card information attached to the order and connecting a Pharmacist, Will to assist with setting up the script timing for first dose. Both Cindy and Will answered all my questions and were extremely helpful in taking care of all of my concerns. Optum Specialty Pharmacy does an outstanding job of taking care of their clients in my experience.
Definitely cares about money ONLY
Definitely cares about money ONLY. My prescription doubled because it's branded and not generic. Their only response was "too bad."
I gave it a 1 star
I gave it a 1 star, because I could not leave it blank. Ever since my Dr changed to Optum care, I can never reach my dr office. To speak to a clinic press 1, then dead silence and hangs up. I called Optum for assistance and report it. All I get is the run around and putting blame on my dr. No it's your phone system, is is horrible. Kept giving me the run around and not trying to address it. This group is completely worthless! I wish my Dr never joined this company that does not have it together. Reps are poor trained and it shows with the money they out into it and tbe worthless phone system. I should not have to go into the office every time, unless that is the goal. Get us to come in so that you can Bill the health care provider. If that's the case, watch out!
Optum Rx puts profits over people
Optum Rx, owned by United Healthcare, puts profits before people.
I am a type-2 diabetic and my doctor has found a great combination of drugs that have kept my A1C well under 7 for two years, including Rybelsus (the pill version of Ozempic). Before I started Rybelsus, my A1C generally came in between 7.2 and 9.0.
In the past three months, Optum denied one of the prescriptions that have been helpful, Jardiance. And this month, they are denying benefits for a second, Saxlogliptin/Metformin.
If I stop taking Rybelsus, they said they would reinstate both Jardiance and Saxogliptin, but that brings me right back to my well-above target of 7.0. If I give up both those drugs but keep Rybelsus, I am similarly doomed.
I guess they'd rather I go on insulin and later pay for my dialysis than keep a good thing going.
Once very helpful, Optum/UHC have become brutal.
I hope Luigi is found innocent!
Absolutely terrible company
Absolutely terrible company. We kept getting bills for $25 even though they were automatically taken payment from our account. When I called to straighten things out, they agreed it was their mistake and would be fixed. It was never fixed. Kept getting bills for $25. When I called back again with all information on when they had taken payment out of my account and to ask why I am still getting bills for $25, I was told you owe it, end of story, not discussing any more. How can I owe money if my payments are automatically taken out?? I think the 1.2 star rating says it all.
Send in the Bulldozers and start over
I have struggled for years trying to get Optum RX Pharmacy to deliver my precriptions on time, in the proper quanity or deliver at them all. My best advise to everyone considering using this service is to run like hell from this terrible outfit. United Healthcare needs to send in the bulldozers, level this place and start over.
Poor Customer Service and Resolution. The man was Great.
Did not resolve that they sent damaged medication in blister packs. Was told I had to go back to my mother's and open all of them and count instead of just sending the 33% of crushed order.
Not good for the well being of my mother.
Formal Complaint Regarding Unreliable and Unacceptable Service Related to Diabetic Test Strips
I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction and frustration with the ongoing and unacceptable service I have received from Optum regarding my diabetic test strips. As a diabetic patient who relies on regular glucose monitoring for my health and safety, the repeated issues and lack of accountability on your end have had serious and negative impacts on my well-being.
Despite my primary care physician prescribing three boxes of diabetic test strips per month to support my daily testing routine (I test at least 10 times per day), Optum has consistently changed my prescription without notifying me. Each month, I only find out about the changes when I receive a delayed notification that my order has been modified—not in accordance with my doctor’s orders or my medical needs.
Furthermore, there have been numerous occasions where my credit card has been charged without my consent or receipt of the prescription, and when I requested to be billed instead of auto-charged, my request was denied. I find this practice unacceptable and unethical.
To resolve even the simplest issue, I have often had to spend nearly two hours on hold with customer service. The representatives are difficult to understand and often pass the blame to my insurance company or my doctor—despite my doctor having sent all proper documentation and a letter of medical necessity for the required quantity of strips.
Optum has arbitrarily decided that the amount of strips I use is “too much,” even when this usage has been medically justified. Requests for a resolution or clear explanation are routinely met with repeated questions and evasive answers, with no one willing to take responsibility.
Additionally, when I requested to transfer my prescription to a local pharmacy for better service and convenience, I was told this was not possible. This refusal further compounds the frustration and lack of support I experience monthly.
After reviewing hundreds of similar complaints online, it is clear that my experience is not unique. This pattern of poor service, lack of transparency, miscommunication, and disregard for patient needs is disturbing and warrants serious internal review.
I am demanding the following:
Immediate review and correction of my prescription and delivery process.
Clear, written confirmation of any future prescription changes before they occur.
Cessation of all unauthorized charges to my credit card, with the option to be billed by mail or electronically.
Full accountability from a supervisor or department manager who can take responsibility and ensure ongoing compliance with my doctor’s prescription.
The option to transfer my prescription to a pharmacy of my choice.
If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to file formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau, my insurance provider, and relevant state and federal regulatory bodies.
Awful experience!
Be prepared to have every prescription you've had existing and new, to have a Prior authorization needed. So every time you need a prescription even for serious conditions, be prepared to have a lapse in treatment, be prepared to suffer, deal with withdrawals or side effects, or continue to be sick when a doctor provides treatment and then be prepared to complete a Prior Auth on every single prescription you have once every year as their Prior Auth's expire every year too. See a new doc at the same or a difference clinic for the same ailment and a different doctor requests the same prescription, be prepared for another Prior Auth. Be prepared for them to be denied and have to be in constant contact with your health care provider and their team in order to receive your medication. Be prepared to have an illness take longer to to get better, be prepared to deal with side effects of not having access to medication you're on, withdrawals or not taking a med causing health issues. They do not care. Awful experience. I feel for anyone whose emoyer forces this company on them.
Got ripped off half a script they knew someone didn't package it
Worst company ever! They somehow send me half a script, my bottle shows it's supposed to be 60 but when I break the Optimum RX seal there's only 30? I didn't notice this until they started calling and calling and calling me leaving messages that it's extremely important!!! I usually ignore these calls because they usually are just wanting to ask me stupid questions about things they already know just wasting my time. Now I actually speak directly to a Pharmacist "This is Difficult they hate letting you talk to them". And he lies to me! Told me it would be fixed ASAP I will get the missing medication Tuesday Or Wednesday we'll it's Thursday now and they cancelled the order??? I called again and got gaslighted another thing customer service is trained to do! They just got the script from my Dr. They are reviewing it? No they didn't just get it from the Dr it's an Optimum RX mistake or theft! They are dragging out! They had to know or someone saw something or they wouldn't have been calling me 3-4 times a day until they got me to call back! They should have just shipped the missing medication with a Text telling me I was shorted not make me to be the cause of all this internal mess they caused !! I am still getting emails and texts to contact them? with a case Number and ask for a Pharmacist that takes a dozen calls to get a rep to do.
Optum Perks will not send you a…
Optum Perks will only send a prescription directly to the pharmacies they designate in your area. Therefore, I could not get it filled through Amazon Pharmacy.
They do not explain this anywhere before you go through the process and pay.
Dysfunctional and inept
Dysfunctional and inept. Just started AARP UHC Medicare. UHC prompted me for the meds I was currently taking so they could put in a transfer request to CVS. Printed confirmation that OPTUM was processing the request. Get robocalls from OPTUM asking if it's me, I respond "yes", they acknowledge and hang up **repeatedly*. Call UHC, get forwarded to OPTUM, told they have no record of my request. Told to call 800 number and re-request over the phone. OPTUM takes my info, contacts CVS (while I'm on the line) and confirms the transfer. Next day I get an email from OPTUM saying my order was cancelled - I click on the link, to view order info - but no orders are listed. Call again, start all over, they say it wasn't really transferred, they're going to try again. Big step down from Cost Plus drugs.
What a difference one person can make
What a difference one person can make! I have had difficulties with Optum, too, as have other reviewers whose input has been posted. However, the person I got today was friendly, empathetic and helpful -- and got my problem solved quickly. So credit where it's due -- in this case, to a woman named Maria who "got it done." Thank you.
They lost my money and…
They lost my money and can't figure out where they transferred it to. This is not a real bank. I got forced into dealing with them by my employer for an HSA account. Do not willing do business with them!!!
Bad Pharmacy
Optumrx rejected my Rx as not covered by my plan and it was filled by my secondary pharmacy.I found out later I could have saved 40% by using a free Optum Perks card! I was never made aware of this card even though I've been using them for years! Very dissapointed....
OptumRx is a horrible pharmacy
OptumRx is a horrible pharmacy. All they do is delay and deny. The have no communication with the insurer they represent, United Healthcare. Go somewhere else else for your meds.
Trustpilot needs to add a “zero star”…
Trustpilot needs to add a “zero star” option. This is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. They will leave you on hold for hours fumbling around to try to answer a simple question, then return to say that the office was closed and they would call back the next day. Surprise, surprise… no call back. Their website and app design is guided by the “Form over Function” philosophy, believing if they make it pretty it won’t matter if it can do anything useful. Horrible, incompetent and lazy are all too kind to describe this company. Oh yeah, and they manage to be completely worthless at protecting patient private information as well. Could it get worse? That is likely the only challenge this United Healthcare-owned company would accept. Just today, I received an email saying that my order was “on hold”. They included an order number, but I can find no reference to that order anywhere in their app or website. Optum RX is a complete nightmare.
