SIM Never Delivered; R387 Refund Still Unresolved
We paid R387 for OpenWeb’s MTN Mobile Uncapped 2Mbps SIM-only service. As of 17 October 2026, we had not received the SIM, so we never inserted it into a router or used the internet service.
We repeatedly followed up about the missing SIM and confirmed our delivery address. On 12 October, OpenWeb said the debit-order mandate was awaiting DebiCheck approval. We repeatedly checked our banking app, but no request appeared. On 15 October, we formally asked OpenWeb to cancel the service and SIM order, stop future debit instructions, make no further charges, and refund the R387. OpenWeb referred us to its one-calendar-month cancellation policy without confirming the refund.
On 16 October, OpenWeb confirmed receiving the payment and said it was still waiting for the mandate to be completed. On 17 October, it said the account was already active, would close at the end of November, and the SIM was being sent. That needs a clear explanation, especially after we had cancelled.
OpenWeb’s Terms of Service describe a pro-rata refund after the tenth working day for delayed SIM delivery, while its separate Refund Policy says there are no refunds for non-use or monthly services. We want OpenWeb to reconcile those statements, confirm cancellation and no further charges, and refund the R387.
The repeated follow-ups and contradictory updates caused unnecessary stress. We cannot recommend OpenWeb based on this experience. We will update this review if the matter is fairly resolved.
