Coto Language Academy Reviews 4

I have been studying at Coto Academy off and on when I have been in Japan for temporary jobs. I had been trying to study Japanese on my own and practice at work, but I was never able to improve until I started enrolling in the intensive courses at Coto. I felt like I could finally communicate with people after being immersed in the class for a couple of weeks. We spend time working on the textbook material but also have a large section of time for conversation practice. Hearing my classmates speak only improved my own listening and speaking skills. I also enjoy the many activities that are offered through the school, particularly the free Bento Chat hour which gives you the opportunity to practice Japanese with native speakers as well as students at a similar level to your own. My language skills have improved in a way that I never could have done on my own. Although I am unable to continue the intensive course due to my schedule, I continue to learn by attending the events and taking private lessons, still learning the same curriculum I would have studied if I continued in a group setting. I plan to continue studying at Coto each time I come back to Japan!

I have studied Japanese with three different schools, and I think Coto is the best out of them. The most important thing for me is that the groups are small — up to 8 people. The material is well-structured and teachers are good. On the intermediate level a strong focus is given to kanji. I like that as it’s the weakest point for me. On the other hand the conversation practice became a little less, and that’s the reason I give 4 stars out of 5.

I've really enjoyed my classes with Coto. I took Japanese classes back in university and through other private schools in Japan, but I never got enough speaking practice. With Coto, I'm getting the lessons I need to not only improve my Japanese abilities, but I'm getting the speaking practice that I need. The teachers are supportive but offer corrections that allows me speak more confidently. I have recommended Coto to many of my friends, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Studying at Coto has given me the opportunity of learning Japanese in a different and fun way.
