The work carried out at no. 27 was arranged through a third party contractor, who offered the job at an agreed rate of £182 per hour plus materials, which was accepted by Miss Akram before any work commenced. My standard call out charge is £60.

Upon attending the property, I carried out a tightness test and identified a small gas leak at the hob caused by a 15mm copper pipe being pulled at an angle. I corrected this issue using new copper pipe at no additional charge.

The original job was to extend the gas pipework approximately 1.5 metres for a new kitchen oven installation. The bayonet fitting was installed at the standard height of 750mm from the floor in the new position. In order to complete the work safely, I also had to remove kitchen drawer units, end panels and secure the worktop so the hob could be safely used again.

Following completion, the customer’s mother confirmed she was happy with the work and additionally requested that I replace and relocate an outside water tap which was dripping and difficult to access. The agreed charges were £182 labour plus £118 for materials for the gas work and water tap. It should also be noted that half of the labour payment went directly to the third party contractor who arranged the work.

I believe a large part of the customer’s frustration is actually related to the involvement of the third party contractor, as they also took their own financial commission from the job. Unfortunately, this is completely outside of my control. Had the customer contacted me directly rather than through an intermediary company, the overall cost would have been significantly lower as there would have been no additional contractor commission or referral fees involved.

The following day, when I returned to carry out the outside tap work, the customer’s mother advised that she wanted the gas bayonet positioned higher. Although the original installation was completed correctly, I repositioned the gas pipework again exactly where she marked on the wall, without charging any additional labour. Due to concerns regarding the conduct and attitude towards me at this stage, I took a video recording confirming that the customer was satisfied with the revised position.

I later attended again to install a vertical radiator after agreeing a price of £200 with the customer’s son. This included relocating the radiator, installing new pipework beneath the floor and fitting the new vertical black radiator. However, I was only paid £150 and the remaining agreed balance has still not been paid despite attempts to contact the customer.

The allegations that the work was not completed correctly are entirely rejected. The reality is that the customer later changed the kitchen layout and are now attempting to blame me for decisions made after the installation was completed.

At no stage was I given a reasonable opportunity to inspect or rectify any alleged issues before these accusations were made publicly.

I believe I have acted professionally and fairly throughout. In fact, I have repeatedly gone above and beyond, including carrying out additional work and alterations without charging extra. I also hold video evidence confirming customer satisfaction with the completed work.

There remains outstanding money owed to me for agreed works completed. Until this balance is settled, I will not undertake any further work for this customer unless payment is made in advance.

Excellent service

Excellent service . Installed a new gas fire . Altered brick work to accommodate the fire. Kept cleaning as he worked. Can’t fault the guy. I would definitely recommend him . Reasonable too. Thanks very much

Professional service

We had Onestopgas come over to fix our boiler, and they were honestly really good. The engineer showed up on time and was super friendly, which made things a lot less awkward. They explained what was wrong in a simple way, so it actually made sense, and they fixed it pretty fast. Plus, there were no surprise charges or anything — just what they said it would be. The whole thing was really easy and not stressful at all. Would definitely recommend them if you need something fixed!
