Don’t waste your money!
We purchased the one box meals as we have a newborn at home and given the current environment it’s not as easy to get to the shops. I have to say, I am glad I purchased this whilst it was on an offer as I would have been even more disappointed to have paid full price.
I chose to cook one of the dishes that night and whilst trying to follow their instructions which seem to jump all over the place, I took out the vegetables needed to make the curry goat meal to find there were already rotting and black. I then had to use my own ingredients to substitute these. We also had an item missing from one of the dishes.
The whole meal appeared as if it had been frozen and then defrosted on the way. So much so that my husband has no confidence in wanting to cook the fish as it has now been 6 days since our purchase arrived (despite a label saying expiration is Aug 22).
What I find even more disappointing is that I have emailed one box to inform them of this and their response was first condescending in assuming we had no intelligence and were referring to the appearance of the plantain. When I was able to go back with pictures they then claimed the vegetables were purchased the day before shipping and are organic so go off quicker than normal vegetables. Again, I am so disappointed in how they assume I am stupid. This is the first time we have purchased this expecting it to be a convenient experience rather than picking our own vegetables, which I will also add that my husband grows carrots and other vegetables and none have ever gone off as quick as this. He is also Jamaican so the insinuation of not knowing the appearance of plantain is also laughable. But it’s also just the plain rudeness of assuming people that purchase their meals are not cultured or even eat food for that matter.
They apparently also state to email them should something be missing, however I don’t see what good that would have done on the day given I was making a few hours after arrival.
The £5 offer off another meal is insulting as it just covers the amount spent on using my own produce.
I would advise to stay clear and find a recipe online and source your own ingredients which would be of much higher quality and more convenient than using this company!
