From making the initial contact, visiting Eddy at the showroom next to their workshop in Poole, site visit, receiving the designs to installation we couldn’t be happier as a family with the two sets of bi fold doors and two fixed panel windows we designed and had fitted by ODC Glass.
We added a kitchen/lounge extension to our old 1850’s home in North Dorset replacing a tired 90’s conservatory with a sleek modern room, the glass and doors really compliment the build and having the ability to discuss glass type, thickness, frame colour and overall size is exactly what we were looking for as in a previous build we had used a high street provider with off the shelf doors which never really met the expectation. We opted for some large glass and 2440mm high doors, when you walk into the room you are impacted with lots of sky and framed views over the hills of Dorset.
There has been two minor occasions where the new building settled and affected the doors very slightly but one phone call and the fitters came out to readjust with no complaints and just really professional friendly service. We could not recommend them highly enough, we do not have any negative comments at all.

Exceptional service from the planning phase, implementation right through to after sales and beyond, all at a very reasonable price. I’d recommend using ODC without hesitation for all your door/window requirements, regardless of the size of the project.

My experience with ODC was very positive. Firstly, the advice given from the sales manager (Matt) on the various options available was excellent - we were swayed from a large bi-fold arrangement to a much more suitable slider arrangement. Secondly, the fairly significant issue we had (our fault!) on the day of installation was skillfully and professionally solved by the installation team. The look and quality of the product is superb - stunning in fact. This is a company that is passionate about what they produce!

We have used ODC Glass since 2017 when they provided two sets of top quality Solarlux bi-fold doors for kitchen and summerhouse. They also supplied a rooflight in the kitchen. Having worked with several window companies over the years on our projects, ODC have always stood out and become a great partner for our projects. Their range of products means our clients get a great choice of options to suit their requirements from sliding doors, windows and glass balustrade. ODC share the same commitment we have to our clients and the products and service they offer has always been excellent. Some projects throw up new challenges but the team are always there to take them on and collaborate with us to get the best end result for our clients. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to future clients. Look forward to working on many more projects in the future.

ISSUES DURING PLANNING / FINALISING PLANS
- We had to pick up & correct at least 24 errors
- We had 11 unanswered questions / requests
- We had to send 9 emails to chase up correspondence

ISSUES DURING INSTALLATION
Two windows arrived completely the wrong size. The surveyor measured an existing window and our builders created the same size gap for a second window in the same room. There was a 10cm discrepancy in both windows due to the surveyors incorrect measurement.

We had previously emailed ODC to point out a size discrepancy between these identical windows on the plans.

This delayed us being able to move into the house with our baby and we had to suddenly find further accommodation for over 3 weeks.

Despite this, ODC would only replace one of these windows without charge as the builders had created the space for the second window. Both windows were measured to the size the surveyor stated in the plans. The only way we would have been able to prevent this error would have been to undertake the all window measurements ourselves. It didn’t occur to us we would not be able to trust the measurements taken by ODC.

Eventually ODC allowed us to pay cost price only for the window (£360 instead over over £800). We had little choice but accept as they would not make the window until we had paid and we could only find very temporary emergency accommodation.

POST INSTALLATION ISSUES
- Huge draught coming through entire side of sliding doors as filler not put between frame and house
- Gap at top and bottom of one window
- Forgot to order + install flashing (we had to ask)
- When flashing eventually installed - done so incorrectly. Two visits were required as ODC were not able to understand the issue on first visit so our builder had to explain the flashing was too small for the space
- Fitters turned up to install flashing at a completely different time to the one agreed with no notice
- Gaps left around frame for sliding doors due to no silicone
- Uneven gap left between part of frame and corner post revealing RSJ
- Less than a year after installation, one of the sliding doors developed internal condensation between the glass panes due to the unit failing

SUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE

Trying to raise issues / complain to ODC was a very stressful and at times upsetting process.

The Installation & Project Manager was obstructive and aggressive on the phone. Instead of listening to my concerns he complained to me that our builders had caused delays on site and I was lucky that ODC were not charging me for this time. He was unsympathetic that their error meant finding last minute accommodation.

Our builder agreed there was a delay of around 60-90 mins while everything was made ready (ODC instructions were not clear and the manager admitted that they have now changed how they communicate these). The manager failed to mention that a piece of kit was left at the Poole site which caused a 2 hour delay, and on a separate day there was a disagreement between the fitters that had lead to them leaving the site early.

A fitter told us that they returned to do extra work due to ODC providing the wrong vent for one of the windows. The manager had tried to blame our builders for this issue but thankfully the team on site were truthful. They also told us that the surveyor who did the initial measurements had made mistakes before.

Amazingly, despite the above, the manager refused to undertake a site visit. We had really wanted this due to the alarming number of issues we had, but also so he could talk to our builder as there were significant disagreements between them. We just wanted to try and understand how so many things went wrong. He did briefly agree after a phone call but changed his mind when we were trying to find a suitable date. This was incredibly disappointing but did seem symbolic of a defensive company unable to take accountability for their own mistakes

I asked many times to speak to one of the ODC company directors who I was told was in charge of the decisions on our project, however I was repeatedly told he was too busy

The fitters were all polite and hardworking. They were understandably weary of the poor management.

Overall, ODC provided an extremely dysfunctional planning service, made multiple errors, refused to apologise or take any accountability, and the final product has been faulty requiring many extra visits and time to correct

The unprofessional attitude of ODC seems to comes from the top. We have since spoken with other people who have unfortunately also had very negative experiences with ODC
