Myself an 3 friends did a ski trip to Mammoth Mountain and based on the recommendation of another friend, he told me yo use Nomadness Rentals. Our unit was not only spotless but the staff couldn't have been more accommodating as it relates to providing some additional amenities, restaurant suggestions, etc. Upon return, I told my buddy your recommendation for a place to stay was "right on!"

OVER FIVE YEARS OF OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE

I was telling a friend how completely happy we were with the property management of Nomadness Rentals. We have been with them for over 5 years, and they taken such good care of my home as if it were their own. They were very responsive when we called and there was always total transparency with billing. So, I was shocked when my friend told me she saw these negative reviews on Trust pilot. Nomadness has been wonderful to work with and have taken such good care of my home and guests. . I have recommended them to several of my friends and they too have had great experiences. These negative reviews are unbelievable so don't believe them.

Like I said early on I have been with Nomadness Rentals for OVER FIVE (5) Years so when the question comes up DATE OF EXPERIENCE there is not enough room to list but should you be interested I will be more than glad to send you pages and pages of dates!!!

Stayed at the Chamonix in Mammoth Lakes and it was gorgeous!! The place was very tidy and the team was super responsive when we requested assistance with the TV, showed up in a matter of minutes. We also loved the little gifts in the unit when we arrived!

Multiple maintenance issues & terrible customer support

At first impression, the unit is cute, quaint, and centrally located. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. During a 3-night stay, we experienced numerous maintenance failures and extremely poor support. This unit is clearly not well maintained.

The first night, the circuit breaker tripped and we lost power and lights in most of the unit for 12 hours. I called and messaged repeatedly and could not get help. Cooking in pitch black wasn’t easy. There was no after-hours emergency number on their voicemail at the time (this appeared only AFTER the incident when I complained). I requested compensation and received none. I was even told there were “no issues,” despite being on the phone during business hours and receiving verbal instructions on how to fix it myself. 🙄 This involved first finding the circuit box outside, then resetting the switches & GFI buttons inside.

Finding the unit was also unnecessarily difficult. It’s in Building G. We searched for 45 minutes in the dark. This information is buried under “Amenities” instead of being included with check-in instructions. When I pointed this out, I was treated like I was the problem.

Additional issues included a TV that randomly stopped working (outlet broke), an extremely finicky furnace (we fixed a broken wire), a broken wall heater, an unsafe and unusable couch bed (claiming it is ‘fine’ should reflect their standards) pellet bags piled in the living area, flimsy fixtures, a shower door that wouldn’t close, and loud furnace/vent noises at night.

Bottom line: poorly maintained unit and terrible management. Their response below alone has been just as dismissive as they have always been. Beware

Update: After I edited my review to clarify details, management responded by framing my feedback as retaliatory instead of addressing the issues described. This dismissive tone mirrors the support experience during the stay and is worth noting for future guests.

Unfortunately, we will not be editing our response from your edited review. Except to note that we must disagree with some of the issues mentioned above. We maintain our position and feel this review is being edited to be retaliatory due to the reimbursement request not being accepted.

Thanks for your feedback. We take all guest concerns seriously, though we would like to clarify a few points regarding the communication and maintenance items mentioned.

• Emergency Support: We provide an after-hours emergency phone line in several places throughout our check-in communications. Our records show that this line was not utilized during your stay. While we do offer texting for general inquiries, that service is monitored during business hours only; our emergency line is the designated way to reach us for immediate assistance after-hours.
• Electrical Concerns: Upon inspection, there was no failure with the unit's electricity. A GFCI outlet simply needed to be reset, which is a standard safety feature in all homes.
• Furniture & Maintenance: We sent our maintenance team to inspect the property immediately following your departure. We found the couch bed to be in perfect working order; it simply hadn't been fully deployed/set up correctly during use. Additionally, our team confirmed the heaters and TV are functional.
We aim to provide clear instructions for all our guests, including the building location and entry details. All this information, including our contact information can be found in the guest portal that we send to all guests at the time of booking and again on the day of arrival via text. We are sorry to hear you had difficulty locating the unit, and we will review our check-in guide to see if the building letter can be made even more prominent.
We wish you the best in your future travels.
Cheers,
The Nomadness Team

Shady company that rents out dirty units. They charged me money after checkout. Dirty carpets, couches, dishes and broken appliances. Avoid doing business with them.

Hello Joseph,

We strive to provide a high-quality experience for all our guests, which is why we have a standard 4:00 pm check-in time to allow for thorough quality control inspections.

Your party entered the unit at 11:30 am without authorization. Because our team cannot enter a property once guest belongings are present, we were unable to perform our final walkthrough. We also noted that no concerns were raised during your stay; we only received communication regarding the $50 early entry fee.

While our policy (as outlined in the guest portal) states a $100/hour fee for unauthorized check-ins, we reduced this to a flat $50 as a gesture of goodwill for the holidays. We are disappointed that this has resulted in a retaliatory review, as we feel we were fair in our handling of the situation based on the circumstances.

Cheers,

Beware of this prop Management co in Mammoth

Worst rental experience we’ve ever had. Rented a unit directly across from eagle lodge . We traveled with kids . The heating didn’t work and they provided makeshift portable heaters and excuses why it can’t be fixed . The kids were cold . The plumbing didn’t work no hot water and poor water pressure in one of 2 bathrooms. They said not their problem but the buildings. Sent 5 men 7 hrs after we asked for sheets/towels to change a bed sheet that had old blood ! 5 men ? Scary . This place is run down. So many things either didn’t work or needed attention (no soap in dispensers, etc). It was gross in our opinion . Airbnb review has not posted yet. Suggest beware !!! We felt duped .

Hello Jack,
We are sorry you felt “duped” and the need to leave such a review, however we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns for our inquiring guests. We would first like to mention that our properties, on all advertising sites, are listed by Nomadness assigned unite numbers, not by property address, for both the safety and security of our owners and our guests.
While the pellet stove was not working, we do think it is important to mention that the pellet stove is not the only source of heat and that the additional heating inside the unit was fully functioning. Additionally, portable heaters were in the unit and extras were even provided to ensure maximum comfort. Unfortunately, Mammoth Lakes is a small town with minimal experts available and, as such, the technicians were unable to schedule a visit to investigate the problem during your stay.
We did confirm that the hot water worked in both bathrooms. The issue with the hot water is due to the entire complex having a boiler system, and this bathroom being the last bathroom on the system. Thus, hot water takes a while to run to this shower. For this same reason, the water pressure isn’t as drastic as some may hope, however, it does provide ample water pressure to allow for a full wash in the shower. Could it have been that due to the delay in the hot water, the water pressure was unable to also reach its maximum potential, as the amenities were shut off before fully functioning?
Regarding the linen exchange, it seems that we had initially been asked to provide additional supplies the first night of your stay. We did share the location information of all supplies available to you. The following evening, after one night had been spent at the unit, we received report of dirty linens. So, even though the sheets provided were not mentioned with any issues the first night of your stay, our housekeeping team did provide additional linens. Our housekeeping teams are dispatched as teams to address departure cleanings. As such, our team was en route to another unit when they were dispatched to deliver linens to your unit.
Again, we appreciate the opportunity to share our experience!

Nomadness broke their contract with us and ruined our vacation!

In January 2024 we rented from Nomadness one of the new condos at Snowcreek to use during Spring Break same year.

On Saturday 03/30 we arrived at the condo believing that everything was fine. We punched in the door code and opened the front door to find that it was fully occupied.

The Nomadness representative said that the condo we originally rented was now not available but they had another place for us.

The new place was not even CLOSE to what we rented. The house was old, dark, divided in 4 different levels, had only one suite, and was in a completely different area.
We refused to stay, but it was an Easter weekend, and the mountain was in its full capacity.

We were informed by Nomadness that the client in our original rental, Carol, had a gas leak and was relocated to our rental until Saturday, but on Saturday she REFUSED to leave the property as her vacation was only finishing on Monday.

We were pure collateral damage!

We actually found out there is nothing that protects clients if Nomadness breaks their contract.

After many frustrating phone calls, we received a $1000 refund back on our credit card even though we didn’t agree to a settlement as we were expecting to negotiate around 50% back of what we paid originally as compensation for all the stress Nomadness had caused to ourselves and guests for the vacation. Nomadness also offered a free night on our next rental (non-holiday) on top of the $1000.
Here is my problem with the $1000…It doesn’t even cover the cost of the 2 nights Carol spent in our rental. So I asked for 2 free nights on our next rental instead of 1.

Nomadness did not give us the 2nd free night and basically said they are not negotiating with us.
In fact, NomadnessRentals did not give us anything that we asked for. They totally imposed on us what they wanted to give. We tried to negotiate many times, but they did not budge.

Nomadness handled the situation very poorly and clearly do not know how to handle challenging situations.

Hello Christiane,
We appreciate all feedback and would like to provide some context to your review and experience.
Due to a gas leak, which poses potentially deadly consequences, we had to rearrange a few reservations. To avoid any casualties, we promptly addressed relocations along with upgraded accommodations, which included a private spa, to enhance your experience.
Out of your 5-night stay, 2 nights were spent in the relocated and upgraded accommodations at no cost to you. To compensate for the inconvenience, we also issued a $1000 refund, covering the cost of those 2 nights. Additionally, we extended a gesture of goodwill by providing a complimentary night stay, effectively comping 3 nights in total.
We would also like to note that our team maintained a professional and courteous attitude toward your group throughout the entire stay despite the profanity-strewn aggressive conversations.
Regardless of our efforts to address the situation promptly and compensate the guest fairly, your party expressed dissatisfaction and demanded further concessions under the threat of a negative review. However, we maintained our decision not to provide additional compensation, as we firmly believe your party was adequately reimbursed and accommodations upgraded for the inconveniences experienced. Our priority remains ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all our guests, and we stand by the actions taken in this instance.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to reply.
Cheers,

Recommendation for this self proclaimed…

Recommendation for this self proclaimed "hospitality businesses" don't preach to guests about your cancelation/modify reservation policy like it's written in stone from almighty god above.

Customer service is outright rude and Zero help and company clearly does not care about their guests and will make Zero effort regardless of circumstances. Stay clear!

*business response is going to be some garbled explanation about how they offer a cancelation "insurance policy" for an additional 10% fee but read that Contract carefully, doesn't provide guest any protection and the entire onus is on the guest to “Prove” cancelation reason is covered which is impossible.. just a horrible company run by unfriendly angry people.

While we appreciate all guest feedback, we do have a no tolerance policy for profanity. As was the situation with your concerns, I am sure our potential guests can understand why you have labeled Nomadness as "unfriendly."
We work hard to come to amicable resolutions between parties, regardless of the situations; however, we do have specific protocols and procedures in place that all guests must agree to in order to book their reservation.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share our experience.
