Never again! It took an hour and a half to pick up the car from Pescara Airport. I had wasted my time doing web check in as they didn't use it! There were only 4 customers in front of me. There were 2 members of staff but only one dealing with the customers and leaving the desk each time for nearly 5 minutes to go over the road to the supermarket car park to pick up each car. The car handover was extremely lengthy.
So - as invited, I gave them a review - a bad one! On return of car I expected to simply hand over the keys as with every other car I have hired from Pescara Airport for over 20 years. But no - I was rudely told to wait - same member of staff. Eventually we went out to check over the car - with a full watering can - pouring water over the wheels etc. She seemed determined to find some damage. There wasn't any. She then confronted me about my bad review - and argued with every point I made. It was unpleasant and intimidating.
I was going to write to their head office - but having read many reviews I realise there is no point.
Do not use this company.
They will use the slightest delay in your flight to cancel your booking and charge you multiple times the price for a new car.
They do not respond to complaints.
Their staff are disgustingly rude people who are just out to fleece you.
Stick with well known companies. These are criminals and vermin.
I arrived at Palermo Airport with a valid Full Coverage insurance policy (purchased through DiscoverCars) which explicitly covered all damage, theft, and liability for this exact rental. I presented it at the desk. Staff refused to release the car unless I purchased their own Platinum Protection on the spot, costing me an additional £288.06 I should never have paid.
When I complained, Noleggiare quoted their own T&Cs back at me — which state that additional insurance is "optional and left to the discretion of the Customer." Their staff did the exact opposite of this at the desk.
This appears to be a systematic practice. Read the 1-star reviews here and you'll see the same story repeated over and over. They know customers are stranded at an airport and have no choice but to comply.
I am pursuing a chargeback and have filed a complaint with AGCM. Avoid.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! I HAVE RENTED A 7 SEATER FORD FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT, DIRECTLY AT THE OFFICE. FIRST IT WAS AN INCREASED PRICE THAN REGULAR, BUT WE WERE IN A HURRY AND WE ACCEPTED IT. WE TOOK COMPLETE INSURANCE, AND THE LADY AT THE OFFICE SAID WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, ALL, AND I REPEAT, ALL WILL BE COVERED!
THE BIGGEST TROUBLE WAS WHEN RETURNING IT AT THE PARKING LOT, THERE WAS A MAN AND A LADY THERE, WHEN THEY SAW THE CAR THEY INSISTED TO STAY AND WAIT FOR THEM TO CHECK THE CAR. AND THE MAN WENT DIRECTLY INSIDE, ON THE REAR RIGHT DOOR, AND POINTED DIRECTLY AT SOME PLASTIC COVER ON THE BACK PART OF THE RAILS OF THE RIGHT SEAT, SHOWING A FRAGMENT OF IT, AND THEN HE TOOK OUT FROM THE BACK POCKET OF THE SEAT , THE OTHER PART OF THE PLASTIC, SAYING THAT WE BROKE IT!!! HE WAS VERY DETERMINED, IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE HE KNEW WHAT TO SEARCH FOR!!! ALTHOUGH WE ARGUED WE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THAT SMALL PLASTIC CAP WAS ABSENT, AND FOR SUR WE DIDN'T BREAK IT! BUT WE HAD NOBODY TO TALK TO, HE THREATENED WE WILL NOT GET THE REST OF THE DEPOSIT BACK, AND FORCED US TO SIGN WE ACCEPT THE DAMAGE. AND ASKED FOR CASH PAYMENT DIRECTLY TO HIM FOR 60 EUROS!!! FOR A SMALL PLASTIC OF 5 EUROS!! WE FOUND IT OUTRAGEOUS: FIRST WE THINK IT WAS A SETUP, HE KNEW ABOUT THE PLASTIC BROKEN AND CAME DIRECTLY TO IT, HE JUST SUPERFICIALLY INSPECTED THE REST OF THE CAR, AND HE FOUND US TO CHARGE FOR IT, SAYING THAT ONLY IF WE HAD PICTURES WE COULD PROVE WE DIDN'T BREAK IT! THAN, HE REPETEADLY ASKED FOR DIRECT MONEY TO HIM! AND SORRY, FOR A SMALL PLASTIC CAP 60 EURO.....! THAN, WE FOUND THAT THE FULL INSURANCE ACTUALLY IS NOT FULL.... THE INSIDE DAMAGE IS AT OUR RESPONSIBILITY, AND EVEN IF THE ENGIN BROKE OR SOMETHING BROKE AT THE CAR, THEY COULD HAVE CHARGE US FOR IMPROPRER USE OF THE CAR! THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL!! WE WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAING! THEY ARE CHEATING AND THEY ARE NOT FAIR! EITHER IS THE POLICY OF THE COMPANY, EITHER MAYBE WAS JUST THAT MAN AND WOMAN FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT PARKING THAT SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR MISBEHAVIOUR WITH CUSTOMERS! BUT THIS IS CHEATING PUTTING UNJUSTIFIED EXPENSES FOR CUSTOMERS! I GUESS IT WAS A PREVIOUS DAMAGE THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT AND MADE US PAY!!! WE HAVE TO FILE COMPLAINT!!!
We rented the vehicle from them at Train terminal in Rome via Zest Car Rental. The insurance was prepaid and included with reservation. The reservation was at 11am but we arrived about 9:45 am and started the process. The agent was trying to push their insurance and told us to cancel Zest insurance. We refused and the she said since we don’t buy insurance from them the car is not ready and we have to wait 11am, our appt time. Very bad customer service.
1) we were billed 180 euros on return of the car for a minor bodywork problem which we realised later had been present on collection of the car, 2 weeks before. This was confirmed on photos we sent to them. Initially they replied and suggested they would refund us. That was over 2 weeks ago, and they now ignore our messages. I have now sent multiple emails asking for a response - with absolutely no reply.
2) On booking we were told the rental company was on site at Florence airport - but we discovered it is NOT at the airport, when we arrived. There is a 10 minute bus shuttle each way. You need to allow extra time for transfers each way.
3) There was quite a hard sell on collecting the car, to take on their insurance, which we didn't need and would have doubled the cost of the car hire!
Lots and lots of additional charges they don’t tell you about.
Very aggressive with trying to upsell the insurance (which was €330 for 4 days!)
Ended up paying nearly £300 for 4 days car rental once all the extras got added.
People in front of us also had a delayed flight so arrived late their rental pick up and had to pay again as the agent (think it was in the region of arriving 1-2 hours late only) “couldn’t access their booking as you’ve arrived too late”
Long story short: although they told us our car would be held until we arrived 6 hours late due to a flight cancellation, they turned around and claimed that they held only the "reservation" and not the actual car at the Florence/Firenze Airport. I was then required to pay an extra €500 for an upgrade I never requested. A day later when I originally complained, they told me that the car (not just the reservation) should have been held and that I should be reimbursed the €500 and that I should keep the upgraded car--all I had to do was to send them an explanation. Well despite 5 emails, they never responded! Rentalcars.com intervened on my behalf but that did not seem to bother them! THEY ARE THE MOST DISHONEST CAR RENTAL AGENCY I've ever dealt with in Italy, or for that matter the world! Avoid them! There are many other agencies (e.g., Sixt) that are MUCH more trustworthy.
The staff member who served us at the Venice airport was incredible,
I did not get her name, but she saved our honey moon! Got us a vehicle last minute and exceptional price and service.
Original booked through budget and had a disaster and went to the noleggaire desk

Absolutely atrocious experience. Modern day con artists. We arrived at Brindisi Airport and soon realised that the car collection point was a long way from the arrivals gate. We then had to trundle our suitcases to the collection point (a good 10 minute walk) in the heat of the day. Once we found the check-in point we then had to wait over 1/2 an hour to go through the process of registration. Immediately the representative wanted me to spend a further €2200.00 on an excessive insurance policy. I explained that I already had that covered and she was not interested and kept pushing their insurance. I kept pushing back and she kept rolling her eyes and telling me I was mad not to take their policy. Having already started the day at 5am and then arriving 4 hours late due flight delays I was appalled by the behaviour of the representative. It is easy to understand how people just agree and pay. These representatives are nothing short of con artists.
Also remember that they do not accept contactless payments. If you do not know the PIN number of your credit card you are screwed. We ended up having to change the booking to my wife’s name and doubling the cost of the hire from €398 to €908. Absolutely awful service.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR ITALIAN CAR HIRE.
I was at Catania airport and the people at the front desk asked me if I wanted to buy the full coverage excess waiver guarantee. I said "NO" a I already have one that is valid the full year. While the guy was playing at his mobile phone, the lady insisted so much to appear as "suspicious". Due to there suspicious and insisting attitude I took all the pictures of the car. Despite this, and being 100% sure that I did not make any minimum damage to the car, when I dropped off the car, the indicated me a small sign on the door and they kept a tangible amount on my credit card. Fortunately I had my personal insurance, but it was clear since time 0 that they would behave like this. I strongly discourage to rent cars at Noleggiare.it in Catania airport. Beware !
Very disappointing customer service.
We received the car with the fuel tank only half full. At pick-up, the employee clearly informed us that we only needed to return the vehicle with the same fuel level and even told us that the car tank was almost full which in fact wasn't true. We did exactly that and even have a photo from the time of collection as proof.
Despite this, we were charged an additional €71.72 for refuelling. I contacted customer service multiple times, explained the situation, and attached the photo as evidence. Unfortunately, my emails have been completely ignored as well as emails from my friend.
Charging customers incorrectly is one thing, but refusing to respond to legitimate complaints is unacceptable. I expected much better customer service and would not recommend this company based on my experience.
Avoid. Simply avoid. There's a reason this car rental company is as cheap as it is. Either deliberately or through negligence, they don't bother recording the damage previous users have made to the cars. Then, once you return it, they'll bill you for any damage unless you can prove it wasn't you through a photo. This includes tiny little chips on the doors (like when you open a door and it hits an obstacle) which you wouldn't think twice about and I strongly doubt they'll ever fix. They'll tell you: pay now or we'll hold on to your deposit for four weeks and it'll be really difficult to make a claim. This, I suspect is part of their business model. They rely on taking money this way as a key revenue stream.
My advice is to simply avoid the hassle and constant worry about how much you'll ultimately have to pay and opt for one of the international companies (Avis, etc). It's a false economy. If the difference in price is very big and you really want to make this saving, make sure you forensically scan every inch of the vehicle under a bright light. They will look for every excuse to take more money from you.
A charge without providing any evidence of damage. Then no customer service meaning you cannot contest. They did the same thing to our friends who also rented a car at the same time.
Avoid if you can.
Noleggiare Car Rental – Venice Airport
I had a very disappointing experience with Noleggiare at Venice Airport. I booked a Mitsubishi ASX, a medium‑size SUV, months in advance for a two‑week road trip through the Dolomites. Instead, on arrival, I was handed a Fiat Panda Grande, which is absolutely not a comparable vehicle.
For context:
• Mitsubishi ASX: approx. 4.36m long, 1.81m wide, ~406L boot space
• Fiat Panda Grande: approx. 3.99m long, 1.76m wide, ~225L boot space
The ASX is a proper compact SUV with far more cabin space and luggage capacity. The Panda Grande is a small city commuter. Calling these “similar” is misleading at best.
As a 6ft 2 male, the downgrade made the entire trip uncomfortable. We had to cram all our luggage into a car that was far too small, which meant reduced legroom and a cramped driving position for two weeks.
To make matters worse, our booking included a child seat, yet on arrival we were told they only had a booster seat available. A booster seat for a 2‑year‑old is not only inappropriate but dangerous. This is a serious safety issue and completely unacceptable.
Noleggiare had months to provide the correct vehicle or a genuinely similar alternative, but failed to do so. I paid for a more spacious, premium vehicle and did not receive it. The downgrade and the unsafe child‑seat situation ruined what should have been a comfortable trip.
I cannot recommend Noleggiare and would strongly advise others to avoid them, especially if you expect to receive the vehicle you actually booked or require proper child safety equipment.

Do NOT rent from this company! I had the absolute worst experience at their Roma Termini location. They use aggressive scam tactics to trap tourists.
1. The "Cancelled Booking" Lie:
I pre-paid for my rental and insurance via Booking.com. At the counter, the staff lied, claiming my third-party insurance was invalid. They promised to cancel my entire Booking.com order so I could sign a new contract with them. I later found out they only cancelled the insurance but kept the original rental fee, resulting in me being double-charged.
2. The Fake "UP SELL" Fraud:
Without my clear consent, the counter staff sneaked a massive €220 "UP SELL" fee into my final contract (over €260 including tax). The most ridiculous part? My printed contract clearly shows the vehicle group was "J1". When they gave me the car, it was still a "J1" category car! They charged me an expensive upgrade fee but provided the exact same basic car category.
3. Lies in the Parking Lot:
The first car they gave us couldn't even fit our luggage (even though Booking.com stated it could fit 2 large suitcases). We had to swap cars 4 times in the parking lot to find one that fit. During this process, I repeatedly asked the staff if there would be any extra charge. They kept saying "NO," deliberately hiding the fact that they had already secretly charged the massive UP SELL fee at the counter!
4. Aggressive Intimidation:
When I realized things were wrong and tried to use my phone to record the condition of the cars and the situation for my own protection, the staff became extremely aggressive. They yelled at me to stop recording and even threatened to call the police to intimidate me into complying and leaving.
This is not a business; this is an organized tourist trap. I have already filed a chargeback dispute with my credit card bank for the unauthorized fraudulent charges and reported their practices to the Italian Consumer Authority (AGCM). Avoid Noleggiare at all costs!
Booked car ( booked as suitable for 4 adults plus 3 luggages) was way too small. Obliviously a common problem caused by the company’s booking system. Upgrading to a bigger car should cost plus 700€, not just the difference between the smaller and the bigger car. The entire procedure took honestly 2,5h. Great way to start holiday, thank you very much Noleggiare at Venice airport.
Collected from Verona airport which was fast and efficient. Car was what I’d booked, a bit of damage but it was documented. They didn’t have an isofix baby seat (one start reduction) and I had to go back to collect another seat the following day (still not isofix but a lot better than the original). Dropped off in Rome - I was late but there were no issues leaving the car in the box. Got the check in report this morning and no surprises. I paid the insurance deposit on debit card as I don’t have a credit card and no issues. All round a positive experience.
