I love newpipe. It would be potentially the perfect youtube app but there are some problems
1. Developers are very unkind and tyrannic, as it (paradoxically) often happens with a lot of open source software. Everytime I report a bug my tickets on github get deleted or ignored or closed, saying "it is not a bug but a feature" or for other incomprensible reasons
2. It has a bad bug, you cannot take pauses when watching a long video, because if you keep a video paused for some minutes, when you resume it gets rewinded at beginning (even this bug report of mine was rejected)
3. From time to time some restricted videos can't be watched and one has to wait several days for a fix (ok this is not entirely NP's fault)
4. (This is very ridiculous) you are NOT allowed (on some phones at least ? Not clear...) to choose the system Download folder as default download folder. Which *makes no sense, given thar is the very, sole purpose of the Download folder* !!! And on my phone, *all apps* are using the system Download folder without problem, as it is normal ! No, Newpipe does not allow it !!! Yet, if you choose to pick a destination folder manually everytime you download a video, it ALLOWS YOU TO PICK THE SYSTEM DOWNLOAD FOLDER !!! Rotfl

For the rest it is simply great, it also allows easy download of either videos or just audio, and I would have voted 5 if it were not for the points above, so I had to vote just 3, sorry, I just hope my criticisms have been constructive

The APK was easy to download. Installing it involved a couple more steps than with the usual install packages but that too went smoothly. The interface is simple and clean, and I could find a video on youtube, play it and keep it playing in the background, which was what I was after primarily to begin with. Really love this.

New pipe is really amazing app. I don't go to YouTube anymore because of this app.But there is one problem that I always faced, and that is whenever I am downloading movies and press my phone's home button, instead of the app continue to run on the background it suddenly stop running and all my downloads fails including currently downloading videos and pending download.Please In your next update make the app persistent on the background so that even when we minimized it movies can still continue to download in the background.Thanks

It's awesome but only thing I need is timer for stopping the music when I fall asleep, everything else is good experience and chill without ads.

This is a free open source alternative, to we all know what and with option to avoid ads, why wouldnt i give 5 stars to this software.

Please add a home section that has recommendations from other channels too just like youtube. Its really bugging me. Other than that the app is perfect.

Id be using this a lot more than youtube, newpipe does not require any google account, which is something actually impressive, would LOVE to rate this higher!

Newpipe is amazing and can't believe the review giving it 3 stars. This is a FOSS, a FREE and Open Source Software application. Those that created the app only get paid through donations, there is no advertising, you don't pay for the app unless you decide to give them a donation. Those that donate enable the creators of the application to continue for those that are not able to donate (for whatever reason). These donations enable the creators to continue to update the application, keep it running, pay for the computers, keep their knowledge up to date, and all the rest.

Using this application, downloaded from F-Droid, enables me to watch YouTube videos blocked to me because I refuse to pay Google with a credit card "to prove I am over 18" (even though I have had the Google account since I was 16yo- 24 years ago). It also blocks the adverts that bombared you on YouTube, and doesn't collect any data on my browsing habbits or device details. The experience watching YouTube on NewPipe reminds me of how it was to watch YouTube years ago.

I love the app. I love it so much that I am learning how to run android applications on my PC so I can use NewPipe all the time! I am not able to give a monetary donation, at present, so I rave about it to friends, family, strangers, on every platform in every form!

nb There are a few bugs and glitches but this is because YouTube changes its codes to try and stop applications like this. Any bugs or glitches are sorted as fast as the creators can rectify them and keep the app running at optimal level. Of course, because this app is FOSS you can always take the code and create a Fork rectifying the parts you don't like, that is assuming of course you have the knowledge to code. (If you don't, try learning to code BEFORE you give this or any FOSS app anything less that a 5 star review.)

I installed NewPipes to watch videos without ads and it works perfectly for this purpose
BUT...
Videos lag all the time, I have to put the video on lower quality but sometimes it doesn't help at all (the only solution is to put on background mode if I'm just listening to music and not actually watching the video)
Can't see the replies to the comments
You can't import your ytb playlists, had to add them manually (but you can import subscriptions)
There's no auto play mode
No way to report bugs or send suggestions
I'll just give an average rate until they fix videos buffering at least

Ps : good point is that you can find ALL videos from Youtube in this app, last time I tried to use another platform I was disappointed to find only few videos that suited my needs
