George Nguyen is Awesome
George Nguyen went from licensed agent to advisor and then to friend in one phone call. I initially went online to get a second opinion after Guaranteed Rate was moving too slow. Once I met George, I found the specialist who helped me buy my first home.
George helped me iron out a few wrinkles from the first lender I spoke with. He then helped me secure my pre-approval that connected me with the house we wanted. Through the underwriting process he ensured I understood what the loan processors needed and then made sure everything was aligned for a smooth close.
George was always responsive to my questions and was great. I know that in the future, if I have any questions, he will be able to assist.

I have attempted numerous times to contact New American Funding by both phone and email regarding reimbursement of the amount I had to pay out of pocket. Due to shortage to pay the full amount of loan from my previous mortgage, but I have not received any meaningful response or resolution.
Additionally, I believe New American Funding deliberately underestimated my escrow account during the loan setup process. After only a month, they increased my monthly mortgage payment by $360.22, stating that my escrow account had a shortage based on their escrow review. This significant increase has created financial hardship and raises concerns regarding the accuracy and transparency of their escrow calculations from the beginning of the loan. I can't reach out to my loan officer or can't get any help to anyone from NAF. Just horrible experience overall!

Our experience with New American…
Our experience with New American Funding was extremely mixed.
Kevin McKinney was excellent throughout the process. He communicated clearly, answered questions quickly, and was one of the only people involved who consistently kept us informed during a very stressful closing.
Unfortunately, our experience with Meghann Garner was far more frustrating than it should have been. This was a 6-week closing process, yet we still did not receive final documents until 8 AM the morning of closing. Communication was often vague or delayed, figures repeatedly changed, and we frequently had to chase down updates ourselves instead of being proactively informed.
The process surrounding gift documentation, closing disclosures, and final cash-to-close numbers felt disorganized and unnecessarily chaotic. Buying a home is already stressful enough without feeling left in the dark until the final hours.
Kevin deserves recognition for how professionally he handled communication during the process, but overall the experience highlighted major issues with organization, responsiveness, and client communication.
