I’ve been a longtime tech user

I’ve been a longtime tech user, and I had high hopes for Netgate, especially given their reputation in the pfSense community. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing.

The hardware itself is decent, but the customer support has been frustratingly slow and unhelpful. Getting a clear, timely response—especially for something as important as network security—shouldn’t feel like pulling teeth. It’s also concerning that basic troubleshooting support often feels gated behind paid services, even when the issue seems to stem from the product itself.

Additionally, I expected better transparency and documentation, especially for users who aren’t developers or network engineers. There’s a steep learning curve with very little accessible help along the way.

I really wanted to like this company, but after multiple attempts to resolve issues and feeling ignored, I can’t recommend Netgate based on my experience. I hope they make serious improvements in how they support their customers.

Negate is the Worst!

Terrible customer service. I tried ordering a 6100 base router and upon checking out I hit an error. I reached out to see whats going on and place my order but now they are all sold out of that unit but still have 6100 MAX in stock for an extra $200. Ugh fine bought it and wait almost 6 days for it to ship and then FedEx lost the shipment for three days right before delivery where it ended up on the other side of the US…

I reached out to FedEx and Netgate, and wait 2 days for either to reply. Not one message from either company apologized for the delay or offered any help. Been waiting for my $1000 plus item for over 2 weeks after I paid for it to be delivered by an earlier date. No reimbursement or even an apology offered. Terrible and rude customer service!

To put the final nail in the coffin I also order a rack mount for the 6100 and its now on day 7 of order processing. No real time table on order processing and shipment.

Totally avoid at all cost regardless if their product works. Company does not care and it shows in their employees and treatment if customers.

Hopeless puts a beta installer with a stable OS that doesn't work as it keeps crashing.

Shame they've lost me now as a potential paying customer, the most hopeless network company in every single way.

Having to reset my bridged router (ADSL) to its default to get internet access back and use my Ethernet router as a switch later, will install a vaguely competent OS next time one that's not as hopeless as this company is.

Update since it kind of worked, though it's asking for connection to Negate of course having a username and password it cant. Won't be using this company obviously
