I have had a very disappointing experience with Netcetera Managed Hosting. My website has been down since September 2025, and throughout this entire period, I was not notified about the downtime at all. When I requested a backup of my plan, I was told it is my responsibility to take backups, despite them being a managed hosting service.

This lack of communication and support is unacceptable. They don't keep any backups, which is a basic expectation from any hosting provider, especially one offering managed hosting. Due to their negligence, my website suffered a prolonged outage with no assistance or warnings from their side.

I would strongly advise against using Netcetera Managed Hosting if you want reliable service and proper support.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re sorry to hear about your frustration and would like to clarify a few important points for accuracy.

Firstly, the website referenced in your review is not hosted on a Netcetera Managed Hosting platform. As a result, we do not have visibility, control, or responsibility for its uptime, monitoring, or backups.

Secondly, even if the site had been hosted with us, the specific hosting package in question does not support WordPress and does not include managed WordPress features such as automated backups. This is clearly outlined in our service descriptions. For WordPress websites, we offer dedicated WordPress hosting packages, all of which include automated backups and WordPress-specific management:
https://netcetera.uk/hosting/wordpress/

We understand how stressful website downtime can be and are always happy to help customers identify the most appropriate hosting solution for their needs. If you believe there has been a misunderstanding or would like to discuss suitable options going forward, we encourage you to contact our support team directly so we can assist properly.

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this for anyone reading the review.

A good experience

I have needed help twice, and both times I have been helped by a technical person who certainly knows the DNS system and nailed the problem both times, even though communicating via ping-pong issue messages isn't ideal; but hey, I wasn't paying for admin support on either case so I value the fact I got any help whatsoever. Thank you..

Beware of Netcetera (Uk) its name is…

Beware of Netcetera (Uk) its name is deceptive, it is not a UK registered company but Isle of Man registered and therefore out of the UK jurisdiction.

We feel compelled to address the situation regarding Netcetera (UK), as their name may mislead potential clients into believing they are a UK-registered company. In reality, they are registered in the Isle of Man, placing them outside the jurisdiction of UK regulations. This distinction is particularly concerning for us as a medical device company, operating under the stringent oversight of the FDA, CE, and the UK’s MHRA. Our reliance on ISO certification is critical to ensuring a professional standard of service from the companies we engage with. Since 2021, we have entrusted Netcetera (UK) with the hosting of four of our domains and eight related email addresses. However, in recent months, we have encountered a series of serious issues with their email services. These problems have included the non-delivery of outgoing emails, erroneous notifications, apparent hacking of accounts, and gross incompetence in handling our credit card payments. Our attempts to escalate these complaints have either been ignored or met with condescending responses. In accordance with their established protocol, we escalated several complaints to Netcetera managers, yet we received no response. Consequently, we sought assistance from the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS), the governing body responsible for overseeing ISO certifications in the UK. Their process for handling complaints dictates that the company in question must first be notified of the issue. If a satisfactory response is not forthcoming, the next step is to reach out to the certifying body responsible for the company’s ISO certification. Despite our repeated requests for information regarding their certifying body, Netcetera (UK) chose to ignore our inquiries. Instead, they issued a notice stating that they would cease hosting our domains and emails within seven days, threatening to destroy all data associated with our accounts. This action was taken despite our account being in good standing, with no outstanding fees owed to them. Their abrupt decision caused significant disruption and irreparable damage to our reputation, resulting in substantial financial losses, all while we were in the process of transferring our domains to a new hosting provider. To add insult to injury, on June 2, we received notification from UKAS, confirming that Netcetera (UK) is neither accredited by UKAS nor certified by any UKAS-accredited body. This revelation underscores their lack of credibility regarding claims of ISO certification. In light of these troubling developments, we strongly advise all current and potential customers to exercise extreme caution when considering engagement with Netcetera (UK). Their assertions regarding ISO certification warrant rigorous scrutiny, as they do not meet the standards expected of accredited organisations within the UK. We urge you to protect your interests and avoid the pitfalls we have encountered.

This service has been OKAY for a while

This service has been OKAY except fortwo serious outages. After the latest such outage (of many days) my email never worked properly again. Rather than constructive assistance, the agents were patronising and dismissive. I still don't have email and now have the hassle of moving my domains elsewhere.

I've been a customer of Netcetera Cloud…

I've been a customer of Netcetera Cloud Hosting since 2012, opting for their Windows VPS + SQL database service. However, my experience with them has been consistently disappointing, especially in the face of cyber attacks and when seeking assistance for upgrades.

Unfortunately, over the years, I've encountered numerous cyber attacks on my server. As there is no telephone support, I was resorted to using online ticket system, which sometimes can take many hours for a simple reply.

Rather than providing proactive support to help mitigate these attacks and get my systems back online, Netcetera's response was to charge me £240 + VAT just to restore the server from an image they already had in place. This approach felt exploitative and did little to inspire confidence in their commitment to customer support.

Furthermore, when the time came for me to upgrade my server for better performance and security, I found Netcetera's assistance to be severely lacking. Instead of offering guidance and support for a smooth transition to a more suitable package, they seemed reluctant to provide any meaningful assistance. This left me stuck on expensive packages that were outdated and offered inferior performance compared to what is available in today's market.

Ultimately, after experiencing ongoing frustrations and feeling unsupported by Netcetera, I made the decision to turn off my server in order to save costs.

Aweful customer service

Been with this company for 8 years and recently things have just gotten terrible. I have constant issues with my eMail. The support is rude, advising me most recently how my FREE server crashed, so maybe I should pay for a better service. They capitlised FREE twice in the message. I responded that I pay for 3 different services from them and I expect all of them to work and losing my email with no notification for weeks in unacceptable. I am, cancelling and never going back.
Update
After seeing I put this on here they point blank refused to help. People leaving feedback online is against their company policy to assist.

Stay away!!!

Stay away!!!!
I have been with this company for over 10 years and It was very good back then.
My website got hacked 5 months ago and instead of investigating and apologising, they deny everything.
I went on holiday on July 29th 2023, I did not notice that the email was not working. the last time I received an email from my account was on the 27th.
When returned from holiday yesterday nothing worked.
Apparently, they lost all my data, the MS database that is meant to be backup, the website logs everything.
I have had enough, I am moving out.
The management is horrible, with no planning, lack of communication, risk management...
I have not calculated how much is this costing me, but it will be in the more than five digits number.

"Minor Outage" lasting 5 days.

My 2 sites are hosted on Netcetera (basic shared hosting). For the last 5 days, the service has been down completely in what Netcetera call a "Minor Service Outage". No updates on their status page or on the support ticket I raised, except "we're working on it...". UPDATE: I raised ticket 3210164 which has now been closed by Netcetera, although the "Minor Service Outage" affecing their shared hosting and VPS is still current.

I have my site backed up and would even be happy for them to reset everything - I just want my presence back on the web again and access to my .Net API's.

UPDATE moved to a 2 star rating. My sites have now been down for 2 weeks 5 days and no sign of progress. This applies to their hosted sites and VPS services.

Excellent domain name registrar

As a domain name registrar - super. They meet the customer halfway and respond quickly. The main advantage is that there are different payment methods that are available for all countries. Reasonable prices. In general, I recommend it.

Bought a domain name from them and got asked for more money after paying the generated invoice

Bought a domain name from them, paid the presented sum & after a while they opened a ticket on my netcetera account asking for 800 pounds more motivating that the domain is a premium one.

Asked for a refund to not waste my time trying to convince a business like netcetera that life doesn't work like this. If you asked me for a sum and I paid it you should not ask for more afterwards.

Our sincere apologies - each Domain Name Registry is different and can charge a premium for short 2 letter domain names - unfortunately we only get to know when we try to register the domain. You will find the same premium price at every other Domain Registration service. We have already refunded you and hope we can be of service to you in the future.

Awful support

I moved a couple of domains out of netcetera and the transfer failed. Understandable, it happens. However speaking to support, I got a reply saying that there was nothing wrong and to leave it a few days. However knowing how things work, I challenged them on this, and got a cold, curt response stating it had failed and speak to the new provider.

In short, support don't listen, they are cold and rude, and really don't want to speak to anyone. I moved all my domains away to cloudflare. Cheaper and nicer support people.

Beware, they stole my domain and don't want to give it back

NOTE 1. I have screenshots and full conversations proving this.

NOTE 2. Nic.cl domain authority is aware of the issue and they are following up with me.

I transferred my domain to netcetera, had serious issues with support and they decided to cancel my account while my domain was still registered with them.

They provided a domain transfer code that is wrong, and nic.cl domain authority confirmed that netcetera has blocked the domain transfer.

I contacted them more than 3 times and they are ignoring my emails.

UPDATE 1 (27/09/2021)
The lack of professionalism by netcetera shows once again while they share the transfer code of my domain in public here in Trustpilot.
They say it has been discussed previously that the domain will be blocked for 60 days but this is not true, they ignored my emails and requests on twitter.
I'm glad that they are being responsive here at least, in public view. I will keep this thread open until the issue is solved.

Loyal customer of 7 years, very unhappy!

I have been a loyal customer of Netcetera for over 7 years. I received a message today that they are going to delete important digitally signed files from my site, that has been hosted there for over 7 years.

[response on Netcetera]
I asked for a couple of days to react to the threat of removing these digitally signed files which where there since day 1 (and are not actually breaching the UAP) and you did not give me any time at all.

Below part of the last response I got Friday evening from your support department:

-----
From: P*****l (Netcetera) p*****netcetera.co.uk
Date: 1/8/2021 18:43
To: R******
Subject: Re: your site

Sorry - but we do not allow these file types on the server as they are a security risk - we shall remove them for you.

...
-----

Your actions where very adhoc and unprofessional and you know it as I received an apology from management a day to late and the question to not share my experience on review sites.

You are simply lying that I was offered to upgrade to something else.

We were moving your site to a new, upgraded server and noticed you were hosting executable files on your website, which is against our shared hosting Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP) as it poses a security risk.

We asked you to remove them, which you refused. At no point did we remove any files.
Our Customer Care team then reached out to you to help resolve the matter eg hosting the files on a CDN or upgrading to a VPS - however, you had already moved your site to another provider.

We wish you all the best for the future.
