Xmas Lunch Chaos
Sadly not a good experience. I chose this pub/restaurant because of previous good experiences here. Not this time.
I booked my meal for 12.30. I was served my starter at 13.05. Lukewarm tomato soup 🥺, the soup was tasty but nowhere near hot enough.
I ordered the butternut tart, however I was rudely informed informed there wasn't any left(I had ordered this when I prepaid for the meal)& was told the other non meat vegetarian options were Salmon en croute( definitely NOT vegetarian) or a cheese based tart(not vegetarian either) & would 5 minutes. 15 minutes later this had not appeared. I was then told someone would take this to my table ! I got to my table with my now barely warm vegetables, to
find a server delivering the tart.
My dessert was served timeously & was hot but the custard was barely warm.
By this time, just after 14.00 the restaurant was absolutely packed, with no tables available & people standing shoulder to shoulder
The servers were working flat out & I felt sorry for them, having to thread their way to customers waiting to be seated or queuing for the carvery.
I wasn't happy with the Chef's attitude to his customers & his staff.
Down to the management's lack of planning. How can food options run out 1 hour after the start of serving !
I will have seriously consider having another festive meal at this pub/restaurant & probably not bother
