We took out a loan with First Stop in…
We took out a loan with First Stop in 2017 to consolidate other finances into one payment. Loan was £34,500 arranged via the broker, Basik Money. Sadly, we did not fully know what we were getting into as the full amount to pay back was £113,000 over 15 years at £634 per month!! Absolutely insane interest rates!! Big mistake! Luckily, we managed to get a loan to pay off the majority of this in August 2021 then continued to make manual payments, the last one we made was £200 at the end of November. This left us with only £300 to pay woohoo 🥳. I was asked on this day when I would like to make the final payment which would accumulate a small amount of interest as expected. We agree on the call that I could pay it any time as the account was in huge credit so I had planned to pay in December but I didn’t due to expenses over Christmas, etc. I called this morning, 7th January 2022, and asked for a final balance to close my account. Since my last payment, £26.24 in interest had been added which was fine. Before I paid I was told that the system shows that my account is to close on the 7th of February which means I have more interest to pay (news to me considering I called to pay the final amount and was never told anything about this prior to the call in the knowledge that I can settle anytime!!). I have paid the full amount of £316.24 which should have closed my account but they now want me to pay interest until the 7th of February. It’s now a matter of principle so a complaint is open which could take up to 8 weeks….. I want them gone. Absolutely crippling company with unmanageable interest rates. And if anyone gets reeled into signing up, just make sure you read EVERY line of the document before commuting yourself.

A Trusted Loan Company
I Recently applied for a loan with Oplo.
From start to finish it such an easy process and it was clear from the start they were making an informed decision about my loan application.
The person who called me to confirm some details was friendly and very pleasant.
The loan was successful and I would not hesitate to use them again for a loan application in the future.
My only gripe would be the higher than wanted interest rate but as this was a debt consolidation loan it was to maybe be expected.
Five stars and thank you again Oplo

They charge me high interest as a vulnerable customer with mental health issues. I try to settle with them but they take years and completely unreasonable all along the way. Avoid

Only Positive Experiences (2 x Loans)
I’ve had two loans with OPLO and both instances were really positive - I genuinely have had no issues with them, or the process.
I did read some of the negative reviews on here before I engaged them the second time and it did almost put me off.
But glad it didn’t. I did have to answer a number of questions, but I understood the reasons why they were being asked.
Staff were polite and helpful, even an agent came to my address to finalise the contract, which helped from a convenience point of view.
The interest rate isn’t the best, but it certainly isn’t unfair - it’s what you expect, based on circs/etc.
Really pleased, would be happy to recommend to friends and family, no problem at all.

Do not make the same mistake as me!
Please do not make the same mistake as me and take out a loan with these con men. I have been off work ill with covid this month and asked for a payment holiday. Aparantly they do not grant payment holidays even in exceptional circumstances. I will now have a missed payment on my credit report. I have never in my life missed a payment. They don't seem to understand life happens at times. There is no support what so ever. Also, at the end of my loan I will have paid back over £11,000 extra in interest and fees. I feel trapped. My original loan was for £15,000 and I will pay back over £26,000. Yes I did agree to this but I wasn't in a good place at the time I took the loan and Oplo could clearly see from my payslips I am working over 250 hours per month to afford the loan before they accepted it. I explained to them everything about it affecting my mental health ect.. again no support there. The sooner I get this loan paid off and get Oplo out my life the better!!!

Think carefully before taking out a loan!
I’m writing this review in the hope that it will put people off using this greedy company. It seems that when we fall on hard times greedy companies like these exploit us. Whilst I agreed to the terms of the loan I don’t think I had really understood what I was signing up for. So just some perspective for others considering using Oplo for a loan. I have been paying £378.76 per month for 2 years = £9090.24. I am now remortgaging and want to settle this god awful loan. The opening balance was £28501.35. I only borrowed £25000 the rest was fees. To settle this loan 2 years later the settlement figure is £28845.39!! Take that in!! Legal robbery.
It not good company
It not good company , to be honest they wasted my time and asked too much info and paperwork.
The broker from personal finance centre made it worse.
I don’t recommend this service .
The experience was just awful and their website is misleading they don’t help and ‘Powering your potential’ is understatement . It’s not true .

Humiliating and misleading
Reading other reviews it seems I'm not the only person this has happened to.
And I imagine like everybody else I use pre-approved offers on Clear Score to avoid an unnecessary search on my Credit Report.
So I applied to Oplo as I was 100% pre-approved. I applied on Friday and there then followed an very long winded application process which took 6 days and involved endless phone calls from an "underwriter" who "just wanted to check" numerous things. Ultimately I was asked to explain everything I spent my own money on (paying bills to my builder etc) and was also asked about an account from 2014. And after all that humiliating process they didn't even have the decency to phone and tell me my loan application had been declined.
Just had a little check now and apparently still 100% pre-approved by Oplo.
Thanks Clear Score for putting me in contact with these scum bags.
I had a loan with aplo and my complaint has been resolved
I had a loan with Oplo loans
The matter has now been closed with assistance from the Manager.

I have had a loan with these guys and…
I have had a loan with these guys and last month in June they ruined my credit score by reporting to credit score company that i had missed 7 payments in one month,I only pay once a month and have never missed a payment, I put a complaint to find out i am actually in credit by over £350, I am told i can request this back but I have to call yet another department, to which they replied no its the wrong information and its only £190 which they have had in their account for months and never informed me of this, they offered me £30 for my inconvenience which is a insult and then went to £50 which is still a insult, wander what I would be charged if I missed a payment!!?
Useless prolonged application process
Applied for a loan on a Friday, filled in all the online questionnaire...Then spoke to the "underwriting team", answered all the questions they had..Then was told I needed to: respond to an email sent to my workplace, had to send in a recent payslip, and a copy of my bank statement to verify my bank details, and showing my pay going in I did all this, then a "Manager" was required to sign it all off, But they had more questions..why did my payslip show a weeks sick-pay, how long was I off for, would I be sick again...and finally could I send in my next payslip just to show blah blah blah...and all for a £2000 loan....
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

OPLO Cripple your credit score and don't care.
Borrowed £8,000 from 1st Stop in 2015 ,which is now OPLO and paid all off in full in 2016 (13 payments). OPLO in June 2021 out of the blue report to the Credit Reference Agency that I have an ACTIVE loan for £19,000 from OPLO and as a consequence my credit score has taken a dive. Equifax say it is OPLO that have reported to them.
When contacting OPLO, I am told they have processes and it can take 8 weeks and she will arrange a call back sometime. Meanwhile they do not care about their negligence or accept responsibility for reporting inaccurate information out of the blue in June 2021 with nothing being sent to credit reference agencies for 5 years. They really don't care about the customer when it goes horribly wrong and I just have to wait to follow their process. My process is that I want the error sorted today not in 8 weeks. Also bear in mind the high interest. £19,000 for an £8,000 loan. No appreciation or thank you for never missing a payment.

Don't bother....waste of my printer ink and time. 15k loan...unaffordable....but broker told me to go for 26k....with interest payable 68k. Stay away. Ride it out if you can get a second job until your credit rating clears up.
Thank you

Very poor customer services
Very poor customer services! Have a HP finance agreement on a car and have being trying to obtain a settlement figure since April 1st (it is now May 2nd)
I have followed the instructions on the website emailed several times, calls snd chat botted and still nothing. I have had to pay the April payment that was due and an not further forward I have also completed the complaint form on the website !
This is holding up the purchase of my new car
I see that Opolo respond to honest reviews quickly, where there are issues that customers cannot get resolved my other means. Perhaps they will finally send me a settlement figure ?????
