The test (cheek swab) was easy with clear instructions. The pre-paid envelope was good and results came back quickly. It would have been helpful if the report had confirmed that all the foods listed had been tested for intolerance or sensitivity, not just the ones with elevated results. The report did not indicate I have any sensitivity or intolerance to nuts, although I have a strong adverse reaction to some nuts, so I do not know whether nuts were tested or whether the results for certain nuts incorrectly did not identity any issues for me.
It would have been helpful if all there had been alternatives suggested for all the foods identified as ones I have an issue with, rather than just one or two. In respect of lactose, advice as to whether dairy-free versions of milk, cheese, yogurt etc should also be avoided / reduced as well as the regular, dairy ones would have been very useful. The information box about each food identified as a problem spoke mostly about the positives of the particular food without any suggestion as to alternatives with the same nutritional properties that would be at least risk of causing difficulties.
The test was useful up to a point. I might use this brand again for health testing, but would look at other companies products too. I would advise buying from Boots rather than the My Health Checked website - the test was half the price.

Our test is a DNA-based analysis that looks at specific genetic markers linked to how your body may respond to certain foods. Because your DNA doesn’t change, the results are consistent and backed by strong scientific evidence. This makes it quite different from other food intolerance tests that measure transient signals (eg. IgG) in your body, which can vary over time and aren’t recommended for diagnosing intolerances.
About your concern with nuts. Our test doesn’t check for allergies like the kind that cause immediate reactions. Those are usually immune-related and need to be looked at by your GP through allergy testing (like blood tests or skin-prick tests). That is why a DNA report won’t label a nut allergy, it isn’t the right tool for that clinical question. DNA testing isn’t designed to detect that kind of issue. We also explain on our packaging and website that the test looks at how your genes may affect your response to food components, rather than testing every individual food.
On the topic of lactose, the issue is caused by lactose sugar, not dairy as a whole. Many people who are genetically more likely to be lactose intolerant can still enjoy lactose-free dairy products or plant-based alternatives without any problems. The advice in your report is based on your genetic risk level (low, medium, or high). If your results show a low risk but you still have symptoms, it could be due to other factors like gut health or something unrelated to lactose and it’s worth discussing that with a healthcare professional.

Terrible -waste of money

Me and my wife took intolerance test and the results we got were the same .
Sample might have taken wrong or test lab issue and the results were minimum.
Not really any test was done .
From the moment they suspect might be a lab issue why they do not send you another test .

Very smooth experience, would recommend for the price
Very smooth experience ordering the kit and then using it at home, then shipping it off to be tested. Communication was great and instructions for how to take my sample were easy to follow. I like the report format - it’s clear and easy to understand, but I would have appreciated more examples of foods to avoid and foods to eat more of.

I liked the idea that I could gain insight to my health at a reasonable cost however the results appear to based on algorithms rather than evidence . I don’t think I would bother again and will now be seeking blood tests to get factual outcomes

I found my experience with this company to be beyond my expectations. The instructions for the test were as simple as they could be considering what had to be achieved so no complaints there. The test arrived the next day after posting and was acknowledged which was good. All results were sent promptly within the time scale specified. I thought the results were clear enough for a layman to understand and I received all the analysis I wanted. The Drs accompanying letter seemed personal and helpful. The test gave me everything I wanted and needed. Correspondence was swift and also helpful so altogether I am delighted with the service provided and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Thank you from a very satisfied customer.
