Maisie is excellent… Service needs reviewing!

We took our Stanley (Working Cocker Spaniel) for 2 weeks training with Maisie. We discussed what his training needs were and what behaviours we needed some help with. Maisie was really lovely and friendly set up a WhatsApp group and gave us daily updates on Stanley’s progress and videos of parts of the training sessions. When we collected Stanley Maisie spent an hour showing us what he had learned and how we could continue once home to reinforce the training. We have to say, Maisie is a credit to the company and her profession.

However, what is extremely disappointing is to find out that despite spending nearly £1.5k on a 12 day course, you’re met in a shed, a quick chat, then your dog is taken away. The very least we expected was to see where our beloved Stan would be staying and the facilities and conditions he would be kept in. We got no such thing. It appears that the blanket and toys we were asked to bring remained unused, especially as when we picked him up, some of his stuff was missing and had to be “found”.

Great training, cannot fault Maisie, but the company needs to pay more attention to its paying clients who are placing their beloved pets into the hands of strangers, at great expense. We would like to suggest an urgent review of the handover experience.

Hi Liane!

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback about Maisie, she’ll be over the moon to hear how much you appreciated her updates and all the work she did with Stanley! He really was such a sweetheart to have on the program. 🐾

We’re so sorry to hear you felt a little disappointed with the drop-off experience. Just to clarify, the “shed” is a purpose built reception office where all handovers take place to keep things calm and comfortable for the dogs. We’ve found it’s far less stressful for them when our team walk them through to the kennels, rather than owners having to leave them directly. It ensures a happier experience for the dog.

We’re always more than happy to show owners around the kennels beforehand if they’d like to see where their dog will be staying and many clients choose to view the kennels in advance of their booking which is something we can always arrange on request.

As for Stanley’s belongings, we completely understand how important they are. Sometimes we’ll use our own bedding if the items brought in aren’t suitable for kennels, but everything is always kept safe and returned at collection.

Thank you again for your feedback and kind words, it really does mean a lot to us and helps us keep improving every part of the experience. Give Stanley a cuddle from all of us! 💛

No improvements

My dog has been home a week now after a 12 day stay 10 days of intense training,no improvement in lead walking, was told I would be recieving some feedback in a few days, never happened.poor choice by me, would not use again Ps the action pack was sent after the trainer read this review, went back to the office and saw it was undelivered.communication was poor at best as your trainers horse was sick. I heard nothing for four days, dose make me wonder if he was trained on those days,

Hi John,

We’re really sorry to hear you feel disappointed.
The feedback you require was a full and detailed handover that was sent to you immediately after your dog’s stay, and our trainer has since followed up to resend it for you. We still haven’t had a response from you which of course makes it difficult to continue and complete training.

Our residential program also includes 12 weeks of aftercare support to help you continue the training at home, as it’s normal for some dogs, especially high drive working breeds, to need a little time and consistency to adjust after returning home.
Your dog has only been home for one week, so it’s still very early in the process and why we include and recommend utilising the support following the stay especially within the first week, to ensure a smooth transition.

We’re always happy to support our clients and would really encourage you to get back in touch so we can help guide you through the settling-in period and make sure you get the best results from the training.

Kind regards
The My Dogs Trainer Team

Can’t recommend this company enough

Can’t recommend this company enough, we have been really struggling with our 18 month old Labrador with her recall and lead walking. It’s still early days but we can already see a big change. Beth was her trainer and she was superb, going above and beyond her duties and even came with us to get a vaccination to help calm our dog down. We were initially wary about it working but can say we definitely made the right decision.

Review for Maisie

Review for Trainer Maisie specifically.

Maisie came into our training journey with MyDogs later down the line, and we could not be more grateful.

Not only did she get straight to the cause of our little Murphy’s reactivity within two days.

She implemented clear training techniques, she really listened to us and her communication was excellent, and thorough. She even drew us a little picture of Murphy to take home with us!

Goofball Willow's Experience

Firstly, thank you Beth for showing Willow the love and care she deserves.

Willow came to us as a rescue. She's never had a home and lived her life on the streets. As a result of this, she's extremely wilful and has her own agenda....Little to no recall and reactivity to cars and headlights.

Since her 3 weeks with Beth she has shown no reactivity to cars or headlights. It's early days, but the signs are positive. Her recall yesterday on her first big walk were fantastic. 18 out of 20 times she came back. The two she failed on were due to her need for a paddle in the river 🤣

She has the basics for 'place' when we want her in her bed, and will continue to work on this as instructed.

We were kept up to date throughout Willows stay and were provided with a comprehensive information pack to continue the training.

I've always agreed that its the owners that require the most training, sticking to agreed commands and continuing what the dog has learned. Willow has a great foundation now and that's all credit to Beth 😀

Thank you Maisie!

Maisie has been nothing short of amazing with our Labrador puppies Reggie and Ronnie. We gave her a big challenge with training two 4 month old littermate puppies. Maisie focused on our three main concerns which were lead walking at the same time, controlling their playfighting and enforcing recall. We were kept up to date daily via a WhatsApp group including training videos and detailed explanations of how their day had gone. We were even invited down midway through their stay to take part in a practical training session together. On our handover, Maisie spent a lot of time showing us everything they had learned individually and teaching us the skills to continue at home. We also have a written training plan to refer back to as well as life time support. We have only had them home for 24 hours and can already see a difference and huge improvement on our previous concerns. It was also evident from the videos that Maisie sent us that Reggie and Ronnie enjoyed spending time with Maisie and the training was fun, engaging and productive. They definitely have a friend for life in Maisie, we cannot recommend her highly enough.

My dogs experience

My dogs had a 19 day stay for a more intense training to help with reactivity and to socialise with other dogs for more confidence.
They are completely different dogs now but in the best way possible. Beth the trainer has been fantastic and always sending updates with pictures and videos.
It’s been a great experience for them and I can’t thank Beth and the team who manage the kennels enough!!

Do not recommend.

Do not recommend.

Disappointed to say the least! Thousands of pounds on a program we thought would be great with the reviews and talking to the staff on the phone they were very confident they could meet our needs without a problem. Well… after a 10 day stay our dog came back exactly the same!! No communication or help from the company and we are now left to spend more money on a new trainer!!

We have carefully checked our records and have no record of any client by this name. We pride ourselves on keeping in close contact with owners throughout their dog’s training, providing regular updates and a full handover at collection, followed by continued support at home.

We would never leave an owner “without help,” and our many genuine clients can attest to the progress and support they receive both during and after their dog’s stay.

BEST Experience from MyDogsTrainer!

I can’t put into words how grateful I am for what the team at My Dogs Trainer have done for Clay. Before his stay, life with him was stressful, he barked at every dog we saw, pulling and reacting to the point where walks just weren’t enjoyable anymore. I felt constantly on edge whenever we went out.

From the moment I dropped him off, I knew he was in the right place. The staff were so welcoming, and it was clear straight away how much they genuinely care about the dogs. I was kept updated regularly which really reassured me, and the handover at the end was brilliant, supportive, patient, and full of advice I could actually use.

The change in Clay has been unbelievable. He’s calmer, more focused, and he no longer barks at every dog we pass. Walks have gone from being something I dreaded to something I look forward to again. The difference it’s made to my day-to-day life is huge, there’s just a real sense of calm and control now that I never had before.

I’m beyond thankful to the whole team for the care, effort, and love they put into Clay’s training. It really has changed things for both of us.

I am absolutely devastated by the…

I am absolutely devastated by the experience I had with this company, and I feel it’s my duty to warn other dog owners before they put their trust — and their beloved pets — into their hands. What Duchess went through during her two-week stay is something I will never forgive, and the fact that months later no one from this company has even bothered to follow up speaks volumes about their lack of care, accountability, and basic professionalism.

Before boarding, I personally spoke with the owner. He reassured me that Duchess would be well looked after, that her training would be reinforced, and that her needs would be met. I trusted his words — and that trust was completely betrayed.

When I picked Duchess up, I was horrified. She was filthy, with feces embedded in her fur, and she came home with a UTI. The only reasonable explanation is dehydration and a total lack of sanitation and hygiene during her stay. This is not a minor issue — it is a clear sign of neglect. The conditions in the kennels were appalling. The smell when I dropped her off was overwhelming, and it was clear the kennels were not being cleaned properly. Staff even admitted that none of the comforts I had sent with her — not even her bed — were provided. She slept on a bare kennel floor for two weeks, in 34-degree heat, with no proper care or consideration for her wellbeing.

This in itself is unacceptable. But then comes the so-called “training” that I paid good money for. Training was promised, yet it was absolutely non-existent. Duchess had already made progress with another trainer before her stay, and I expected this company’s program to build on those foundations. Instead, she came home exactly the same, if not worse — with no new skills, no reinforcement of the basics, nothing. It is now painfully clear that she wasn’t trained at all. She was simply left in a kennel, neglected, for two weeks while I was led to believe she was being worked with daily.

What makes this whole situation even worse is the complete refusal to take responsibility. I raised my concerns immediately. I reached out multiple times — by phone, by email, and even directly to staff — and months later I still have not received a single proper response. No apology, no explanation, not even an acknowledgment. To spend that much money, to put my trust in professionals, only to have my puppy returned sick, dirty, untrained, and clearly distressed, and then to be ignored entirely, is beyond comprehension.

This company should not be operating if this is how they treat animals in their care. Dogs are family members, not paychecks. They deserve safety, hygiene, compassion, and enrichment — none of which Duchess received here. Instead, she endured two weeks of misery, neglect, and possible suffering, and I was left with a sick puppy, a broken trust, and a deep sense of anger and betrayal.

I would strongly urge anyone considering this kennel or training program to look elsewhere. If you love your dog, please do not subject them to what Duchess went through. This has been the most distressing experience of my life as a pet owner, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Highly recommend Yasemina

We had the lovely Yasemina as our trainer. She kept us updated and we saw a big difference in Rosie from when we collected her. Previously, we struggled to take Rosie out because of her reactivity but we have learnt techniques to keep her attention when we are out which has made a huge difference. Our walks are now pleasant. Really appreciate all the work Yasemina did with Rosie and we would highly recommend her.

Spent £4000 on 3 weeks training for my 2 German shepherds,3000 for training and 1000 for boarding in a 3 star rating kennels,in 3 weeks i had 4 updates of which i had to ask for!on collection day it was raining at the hand over so was poor and was told i would receive a call at 6pm that evening to go through everything, that call never came!also on collection i noticed that one of my dogs had a bright red nose with 3 lumps on it,when i asked if he had been bitten or what happened the trainer hadn’t seen it which was a surprise to me as if he was being trained a lot then you really couldn’t miss it! Was asked if i had any antiseptic and was told to put on the wound when i got home!!as she thought it was because he had been barking through his cage! Also the day after i noticed my other shepherd had a wound under his bottom jaw, when i sent a email complaining about all of this a was told it would be looked into and I would receive a response with in 48hrs 2 weeks later still haven’t ! I don’t believe my dogs had been trained for 3 weeks or even a couple of days!!!! Also when i picked them up there was a comment about my dogs not pooing in their gage which i thought was strange and now i think that was because they where left for long periods in their cage and she was surprised they waited for that long to go to toilet!!!Dont waste your money with this company shocking experience for me and my family and god knows what my 2 dogs went through !!!!! STAY CLEAR!!!! INTENSIVE RESIDENTIAL DOG TRAINING SPECIALISTS, WHAT A JOKE SHOCKING,Reply to your comments, as i said in my second email to you yesterday,i never received your email that was promised within 48 hours also i have also told you that we had been very reluctant to put our 2 boys in kennels first of all but felt reassured by yourselfs on the quality of care and training they would receive and I’m sorry to say this wasn’t the case!! So now we are reluctant to give you our 2 boys again!and if your trying to say this isn’t a true representation of your buisness I’m sorry to say it was in our case!!

Jon, we were very saddened to read your review. We care deeply about every dog entrusted to us, and it is always upsetting to hear when someone feels disappointed.

We addressed this matter with you directly at the time and within the time stated despite your claim of “2 weeks”. We even forwarded this response on to you again for reference to ensure there was no reason to continue to claim otherwise. We went above and beyond our usual policies to offer a resolution. To date, we have not received acknowledgement of this from you.
We understand your frustrations, but we do not feel your review reflects the standards we uphold at My Dogs Trainer.

Our trainers are highly qualified and knowledgeable, delivering positive, professional training tailored to each dog, and we partner exclusively with licensed boarding facilities to ensure the very best care and environment.

As a small business, reviews have a significant impact, and we truly rely on honest reviews to reflect the standards we work so hard to maintain.
We feel it is disheartening when feedback does not reflect the steps we have taken to resolve a situation.
As you can see from the many positive reviews we receive, this is not representative of the service or standards we are known for.

That said, we would welcome you contacting us directly or responding to our attempts to resolve the situation with you, as before, we can do our very best to find a reasonable solution.

A Game Changer for Complex Rescue Dogs!

I booked a 4-week stay for my dog Rocket, who is a chihuahua mix. He is a rescue from Dogs Trust, and he had been taken from a severe hoarding situation.

He was understandably terrified of everything, unpredictable with his behaviour, had separation anxiety and lacked confidence. We were getting sleepless nights because he would bark, he’d be distressed in his crate, and his behaviour was unpredictable on walks. It’s expensive and not an amount I’d normally spend (I appreciate this could put people off), but it was worth it, as it’s been an investment, that will continue to benefit Rocket throughout his life! He will get lifetime support, and opportunities for refresher training. If I got another rescue dog, I’d do it again, as it builds a great foundation.

Rocket stayed in the Southampton branch. His trainer Beth worked wonders with him, I picked up a confident, happy and well trained dog! She kept us updated throughout the duration of the stay, with pictures and videos of the training, and I saw that she had built a strong bond with Rocket. He absolutely loved her! For a dog who didn’t trust anyone, this was so heartwarming and reassuring to see!

I was worried about him when I left him, but throughout his stay he had a fantastic time, he was even smiling in the photos! The communication was fantastic, Beth always kept us informed and answered any questions myself and my flatmate had regarding Rocket. I trust her wholeheartedly with my dog, and I have no doubt he’ll love to see her again on his refresher training, and continue to thrive.

You need to keep working on the training and maintain your dog’s progress. It’s positive and reward based, and there’s a handover book with diagrams and instructions to help. Whenever I’ve been unsure, the trainer has always been on hand to help!

It’s early days but since coming home from his stay; Rocket has settled, he’s slept in his crate without issue, he’s more relaxed and has had positive interactions with dogs and people, he enjoys his walks and he’s not chewing everything in sight due to anxiety! He’s not seeing the world as a scary place anymore, which has been invaluable to his mental health and quality of life.

Thank you for all your hard work with Rocket! 🚀

Our Border Collie, Jax.

Our Border Collie, Jax, has just returned home after completing a 4-week intensive residential training programme with Beth at My Dogs Trainer in Southampton.

Firstly, we want to express our gratitude to Beth for taking such good care of Jax during his stay. It was reassuring to know he was not only being trained, but also shown genuine love and affection while away from home. Jax is a sweet-natured and generally well-behaved boy, with solid basic training already in place. However, we were looking for support with his reactivity around other dogs, which can be unpredictable.

After an initial phone consultation, we were advised to book Jax in for the 4-week Reactivity (Severe Behavioural Issues) programme. While the communication and check-ins throughout were positive, with Beth reporting that Jax settled in well, only grumbled occasionally, and responded promptly to redirection from day one, we were left wondering if such an intensive programme was the right fit.

Beth was very accommodating throughout and was happy for us to visit with our daughter during his stay. Because Jax had been showing such positive behaviour, we wondered if his usual reactivity might have been reduced simply because our daughter wasn’t present, as she often walks with us. Beth welcomed the opportunity to observe Jax with our daughter around, and from this, confirmed she was happy with the training strategies she had put in place and how he responded.

In hindsight, we feel it would have been beneficial for owners to have an in-person assessment for the 4-week stay, before committing to both the financial cost (£2,100 + £650 for boarding) and the emotional impact of being without their dog for a month. Had Beth had the chance to meet and observe Jax beforehand, myself and my husband believe a shorter or different training option may have been more appropriate.

That said, we are pleased with the verbal cues Jax now responds well to, particularly “let’s go” and “with me”, which are a testament to the training he received. While we haven’t noticed any major behavioural changes, likely due to his already good manners, we do feel more confident with clear strategies to manage his reactivity moving forward.

Overall, we truly appreciate the care Beth gave Jax and the positive tools we’ve taken away. We just hope that in future, more tailored recommendations can be offered upfront to ensure the best fit for each individual dog and their needs.

Hi Chloe

Thank you so much for such a kind and thoughtful review, it really means a lot to us, and to Beth in particular. We’re so glad to hear that Jax was well cared for and that you felt reassured knowing he was shown love and affection throughout his stay. He truly is a lovely boy and was a pleasure to have with us.

It’s great to hear that the cues like “let’s go” and “with me” are working well, and that you’re feeling more confident managing his reactivity. That’s exactly what we aim for, giving owners simple, effective tools they can use every day.

We really appreciate your feedback around the assessment process. You’re absolutely right, while the initial consultation is done over the phone to help us decide on the right course length and whether it’s the best fit, we’re always happy to arrange an in-person assessment too, especially in cases where behaviours are slightly more complex.

And for dogs who are new to kennels or if owners feel unsure, we do offer trial overnight stays to ease that transition, it’s a great option for dogs who are a little anxious in new environments.

Thank you again for trusting us with Jax and for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We’re really happy to hear you’ve come away with some useful tools, and we’re here if you ever need anything in future.

Warm wishes,
The My Dogs Trainer Team

German Shepherd puppy training with Beth

We had our five-month-old German Shepherd puppy, Floki, trained by Beth — and the transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.

Before training, we were doing everything we could: attending puppy classes, reading training materials, and trying our best at home. But without the right experience, it felt like we were getting nowhere. Floki was biting, jumping up, chewing his lead, having accidents indoors, and humping. He wasn’t a bad dog, we simply weren’t communicating with him in a way he could understand.

That’s when Beth stepped in, and everything changed.

After working with her, Floki is like a completely different dog. He listens to our commands, walks beautifully on the lead, and, best of all, we can now give him love and attention without the chaos that used to follow. It’s a joy to spend time with him.

Beth didn’t just train Floki, she trained us too. She helped us understand how our actions might have been unintentionally encouraging bad behavior, and she guided us to adjust our approach in a way that truly supports Floki's learning.

Beth is an incredible trainer and a true asset to her profession. We are beyond grateful for what she’s done for our family.

With heartfelt thanks,
The Bourgaize Family

We cannot thank the trainer enough for the incredible support in helping Marley settle in the car! Before this, every journey was a chaotic chorus of barks and howls at the slightest twitch of a leaf or passing cyclist—but now, it’s like we’re riding with a seasoned traveler. The transformation is nothing short of miraculous.
From the very first session, the trainer was calm, attentive, and totally tuned in to Marley’s needs (and ours!). They took the time to understand his triggers and tailored strategies that actually worked, with endless patience and a brilliant sense of humour to keep things light. You could see their passion and expertise shine through in every moment.
Thanks to this guidance, car rides have gone from stressful to smooth. Marley’s more confident, relaxed, and we no longer dread opening the car door.
Absolutely fantastic service—highly recommended to anyone who thinks calm car rides are just a dream. They made it our reality. 🚗🐾
