Avoid My Constructor – Property Damage, Unpaid Compensation, and Poor Customer Service

I strongly recommend avoiding My Constructor.

I hired My Constructor for an oven cleaning service, but during the visit, damage was caused to my property. I reported the issue immediately and provided photographic evidence. My Constructor then arranged for someone to inspect the damage, and they confirmed that the damage had occurred and that my complaint was valid.

Despite accepting responsibility, My Constructor initially asked whether I would be willing to pay half of the repair costs myself. Given that the damage was caused during their service, I found this completely unreasonable. In an effort to resolve the matter amicably, I offered to cover the VAT while they covered the actual repair costs.

My Constructor agreed to reimburse me for the damage and was told that compensation would be paid within 28 days.

The payment never arrived.

More than 28 days later, I had received nothing. Since then, My Constructor has ignored my calls, messages, and attempts to follow up. They acknowledged the damage, agreed to compensate me, and then failed to honour that agreement.

As a result, I have been left with a repair bill of around £500, on top of the amount I originally paid for the oven cleaning service. Not only was my property damaged, but I am now significantly out of pocket because My Constructor has failed to fulfil its promise.

If you are considering using My Constructor for oven cleaning, property maintenance, home services, or any other work, I would urge you to think carefully. Based on my experience, if something goes wrong, you may struggle to get them to take responsibility or provide the level of customer service you would reasonably expect.

My experience with My Constructor has been extremely disappointing, and I would not use them again or recommend them to others.

It was very easy to book this service and get a convenient time slot. Communication and service were excellent. The certificate came through quickly and a small error on the address corrected immediately. I'd highly recommend this service. Thank you, Jonathan!
