Do not purchase Netgear
I purchased a Netgear mesh system at the end of December. It stopped working at the end of February. For the last two months I have spent hours with Netgear (non-)support and customer service. They all tell me that I am very important, but nothing happens. Today I was told that I could pay for a replacement for the defective units. This company is a SCAM.
Nighthawk hotspot/Bad product horrible customer support
The nighthawk router arrived faulty but what is even more faulty is their customer support! The worst! They hung up on me 3 times saying no one is available right now and they took 2 days to respond to my email where they said ”try these fixes otherwise return it when you get back to the US” in 2 months. Don’t buy from this company they don’t care about you.
Netgear is a joke.
Netgear has officially taught me what a 4000+ euro mistake feels like.
I invested in their premium 970 Orbi system expecting premium performance. What I got instead was a mess of overpriced hardware, lackluster software, and customer service that feels like it’s powered by a hamster who keeps falling off the wheel.
Despite wiring five satellites professionally, the GUI showed them endlessly “connecting” like they were trapped in some eternal digital purgatory. When I reached out for help, Netgear’s support solution was to… change my firmware without addressing the actual issue. Result? The wifi works, but the GUI — the thing I needed fixed — is now useless.
Support kept disconnecting, stalling, or giving half‑answers. And today, I was told the “recommended” number of satellites is four. Wonderful. Maybe Netgear should mention that *before* selling systems to people with homes that actually need five.
For the price I paid, I expected reliability, professionalism, and functioning software. Instead, I got frustration, wasted time, and a masterclass in how not to support your customers.
If you’re considering blowing thousands on Netgear, learn from my experience: it’s a luxury purchase with bargain-basement service.
MR60 is Unstable and Frustrating!
Have about had it with my Netgear Nighthawk mesh system (MR60) with a router and two satellites. Almost EVERY TIME there is a power interruption or my ISP goes down, I have to completely REINSTALL my entire system *from scratch* which takes a lot of time. This has occurred DOZENS of times since my purchase
from Amazon on May 17, 2023. I purchased a 3-year extended service plan (Asurion), and am tired of seeing “connect your main router to a UPS or surge protector” (they are), and I have lost countless HOURS doing this ever since buying my system in 2023. Why doesn’t this system simply recover its connection following these outages? For a $200 system...I expect more---and BETTER!
Worst product
Worst product, interface and customer service. They manage to make the process of set up or even password recovery next to impossible! That’s after reading through their website and speaking to customer service for an hour. DONT BUY!
Netgear can’t mange to run an online shop
Ordered a router online, paid extra for express delivery. Days after the alleged expected delivery date there’s not even a record of the order despite having the confirmation email and the $ amount pending on my credit card. Customer service, what there is of it is appalling. Just another dodgey company that prioritises taking your money over all else.
Money grab at best! Stay clear of their security service.
Horrible customer service. Thought I canceled a recurring subscription, and received a charge for $99.99. Went to my account through the app and grayed out my subscription i formation (date, payment, etc….). After multiple pages on the netgear website I was able to cancel my account for next year 2027. I’ve contacted netgear multiple times explained that I thought my account was canceled, canceled within an hour of the renewal notification when I found out it wasn’t, and no long use netgear equipment or the service I originally signed up for nor had I in sometime however they refuse to give me a refund. I seriously have to laugh since not only have they not issued a refund but they continue to try to upsell me and I font even use their equipment. I like netgear equipment but given my recent experience I doubt I will ever purchase their equipment or the security services again.
Support is abysmal
Purchased a CAX80 router with the armor security add on for 530 dollars. Activating it and configuring the router was a mess due to self signed certificates. I made the mistake of calling tech support, the connection was horrible. The tech misheard my email address and assigned my modem to the wrong address. Weeks later I can't get this fixed, support says the escalate it but nothing happens. Can't use armor without a registered product so that's 100 out of my pocket for nothing. Stay away
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!BEWARE!
I paid 200.00 for netgear pro.My computer had a problem .They went into my computer with me watching and ran something and at the end it said my computer had been hacked.I knew that was weird. They said pro didn't cover it and they wanted 500 to 1500. to repair registry.I knew that was wrong.I took to my computer repair guy just to be sure they were lying. It was malware!!Beware of this company .They will do anything to get more money.I will never buy another product from them.Nighthawk used to be a great company. NOT anymore
Very disappointed with DHL’s handling – and Netgear’s response
had placed an order directly through Netgear. Everything went smoothly until the delivery part — and that’s where DHL completely failed.
According to DHL, I had “refused” the parcel. That’s absolutely not true. I was home the entire day, my video doorbell recorded everything, and no delivery attempt was made. There was no note left, no driver at the door, nothing.
After contacting DHL, they admitted a mistake might have been made and said they would “look into it.” I also reached out to the forwarding company, who confirmed the parcel had been returned.
The most disappointing part is that Netgear did not take responsibility to resend the order, even though it was clearly DHL’s fault. Instead, they only offered to sell the product again — now at a much higher price.
A great product, but a very poor experience due to DHL’s complete failure and Netgear’s unwillingness (till now) to make things right.
NETGEAR is not reputable!
NETGEAR does not stand behind their products and support! Both technical support and customer service are absolutely awful - BUYER BEWARE!
I purchased an Orbi 970 Quad-Band, WiFi 7, Mesh System, 3-Pack for nearly $1,900. Right out of the box, the product never worked, as it would be broadcasting but lose internet intermittently and disconnect. I have Fios Gigabit service because I depend on my internet and WiFi, being that I live in an area where there is very little cell service due to the local topography, namely a large and miles-long escarpment. The Verizon Fios internet was working fine but to confirm I would disconnect the Orbi and would have no issues. The Verizon router simply doesn't broadcast far enough to hit the far reaches of my house so I need the mesh system. Despite this, the NETGEAR tech support team jumped me through hoops for WEEKS, trying to say it was my ISP. When they finally admitted that it was the Orbi causing the issues, they made me capture logs, took control of my computer for hours at a time, dangling a promise of escalating the problem for nearly a month. At this point, after falling behind in my job, since I work from home, I just wanted to return the product as they did not seem to have any idea how to fix this, even after all of this time.
I had literally wasted hours upon hours of my time on the phone, yet the tech support rep tells me that he cannot return the product which I have had for less than 2 months, because their return policy is only 30 days and he would have to get me help from the customer service team. He said I would be contacted within 24 hours but after 3 days of waiting, I called customer service directly to which I was told there is no guarantee that the product can be returned and someone will reach out within 24 hours to let me know. At this point, I am starting to realize that even though the problem was from day one - due to the technicians dragging out the the support, to no avail, pushed me past the return window and in my opinion this was done on purpose. So now I am out $1900, have not had workable internet service for nearly 2 months, I am still being given the run around by the customer service department and on top of everything - I need to go out and buy a new mesh system.
NETGEAR IS NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY! PLEASE DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND BUY ELSEWHERE!
Buyer beware! Ripped off!
Buyer beware!! Netgear is no longer a reputable company. I had a Nighthawk router that worked perfectly for years. One day it lost connection to the internet. After 45 minutes on the phone to xfinity, they said the problem was in the router, I should call Netgear.
The Netgear tech said if he fixed the connection, I owe $170 for a new service contract. When I asked what changed, he said they preformed an "update" last night and I would have to pay to restore internet access.
This is clearly extortion and a complete scam. They turned the router off to force you to pay to turn it back on. I got a different router and am finished with Netgear. Don't be fooled!!
Netgear is truly an awful company
Netgear is truly an awful company. Over the years, I have bought dozens of pieces of Netgear equipment- this modem breaks after 5 months and won't connect to the internet at all due to a permanent reboot loop the Spectrum rep and myself tried everything, reboots, reprovisioning and factory resets)- and the NetGear tech says he can't help because we can't troubleshoot it. I tell him it doesn't connect to the internet (I spent 90 minutes with Spectrum on Friday trying to make it work). He also refused to escalate the case. Bye Bye Netgear and hello ASUS and Arris. They are a pale shadow of what they used to be. Their equipment does not last and they don't stand behind it!
Do NOT buy the latest Orbi
Do NOT buy the latest Orbi , router , internet equipment brand NetGear . Their latest model is very very dangerous and customer service is absolutely no help . Their equipment is heating up , router blowing out , plugs too hot to unplug and continuing crashing because of the over heating . They are recommending putting small fans near each of the plugs so a fire or spark doesn’t happen !! ( crazy ) 🤪 Customer service is awful , you r referred to several different teams and no one gets back to you . We are now waiting for the third set of equipment which we know will do the same exact thing . They will not refund money ,, only an exchange for equipment that should all be recalled !!
Net Gear security charges more than I…
Net Gear security charges more than I paid for my new modem & router. Beware once your netgear goes out they will charge you to upgrade the security I was quoted 175.00 So I hung up on this obserd jesture and bought an ASUS that out performed the NETGEAR and has life time updatses with no security fee ever. Just know there are still a few companies out there not trying to rape the consumer. NetGear is NOT ONE OF THEM
Modem is trash didn't last 6 months and…
Modem is trash didn't last 6 months and they want to charge $99 for support. Will never purchase a net gear product ever again. Whole company is trash.
Netgear Nighthawk app..
Netgear Nighthawk app... you can't even disable the service for this ARMOR crap.. you need a phone it doesn't let you do it from the login on the router.. I can't believe I paid $200 for this and we went BACKWARD in technology over the last 30 years
BEWARE-BAD PEOPLE WITH BAD INTENTIONS…
I have spent approximately $300 on a Nighthawk wireless netgear router and mesh extenders. I was pressured by the slimy Netgear support people into buying a 200.00 pro support plan. After a year, when I called to get some help, I was told I needed some new 299.00 firewall protection in order to get my voip phone working. I was hung up on twice by the rudest people I've ever dealt with. They remind me of copier salesman in the day, other than they are slimier, not a bit charming and border on being criminal scam artists. I was so ticked off that I figured out how to fix the problem myself- the problem they told me could only be addressed by spending $299.00 for three years of firewall protection. Netgear should be ashamed of these d-bags that represent them
I contacted NETGEAR to find that their…
I contacted NETGEAR to find that their website was captured by a scammer who sold me a $449.00 lifetime support contract. 2 months later I contacted them again at which point they advised I had been scammed and would not help. Customer support agent beat around the bush, would NOT answer the question asked. Would NOT connect me to a supervisor and overall completely useless.
AFTER LOST TIME IN HOURS, losing $449.00 in fake contracts and experiencing absolutely no desire to help I threw the entire system (3 units) in the trash and will never consider NETGEAR EVER AGAIN.
I’m on my second set of Netgear mesh…
I’m on my second set of Netgear mesh routers, within 2 weeks of the free tech support running out they have both started signal stuttering. Netgear want another $99 to help fix the problem. Seems fishy that they do this everytime. Seems like extortion to me! Would NOT suggest these routers as an option due to weird timing and very very poor tech support!
